His father is Darth Vader.
Shua - 3/21/2013, 12:47 PM
Ok... it looks pretty awesome. I don't care for the new costumes or Starlords helmet but the art in the book is great and it seems that between this, All-New X-men, and Uncanny X-Men I am finally becoming a Bendis fan. Took him long enough to hit his stride ;)
MrAgamotto - 3/21/2013, 12:47 PM
His father is just mad cause Peter get rid off his sxy helmet...
xStarLordx - 3/21/2013, 12:50 PM
Cool! Can't wait!!!
PsyGuy - 3/21/2013, 12:50 PM
This art is amazing!
xStarLordx - 3/21/2013, 12:51 PM
This, All-New X-Men, and Deadpool are the best titles!
mctrinket - 3/21/2013, 12:53 PM
Gamora's old costume was more fan friendly.
maryboo - 3/21/2013, 1:00 PM
Too much damn dialogue. The first page of the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy had more action than this. It wouldn't be a problem if Bendis' dialogue were not boring to read.
thatiscrazy - 3/21/2013, 1:02 PM
@helmet... WTF?
beane2099 - 3/21/2013, 1:03 PM
Bendis really likes to do that one-character-repeating-another-chracter's-dialogue thing, don't he? Guess he was a major Seinfeld fan.

"The Earth is to be left alone."
"Left alone?"
"Left alone."
"Earth?"
"Earth."
"Left alone?"
"Left alone, yes."

This, of course is hyperbole, but tell me that sort of exchange don't happen in every Bendis book at least once.
OrganizedChaos - 3/21/2013, 1:05 PM
God, I hate that helmet so much.....

Bring back his helmet from Annihilation!
beane2099 - 3/21/2013, 1:10 PM
Schticky dialogue aside, I AM looking forward to this. I'm a little puzzled as to why Annihilus is present in this council meeting (He's supposed to live in the Negative Zone, which is like a separate dimension and what not). But if they don't care, I guess I don't either.
superotherside - 3/21/2013, 1:16 PM
Please put his mask back on Marvel.
KaneRomita - 3/21/2013, 1:17 PM
"something about something about the cancerverse.."
Sounds like Star-Lord's dad knows as much about what happened as Bendis does..

novaprime - 3/21/2013, 1:30 PM
what the ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccckkkkkkkkk did they do to starlords mask ???????????/
marvel72 - 3/21/2013, 1:35 PM
love me some marvel cosmic action, can't wait for this.
KeefNCookies - 3/21/2013, 1:50 PM
Marvel clearly hates its fans.
jimoakley666 - 3/21/2013, 1:52 PM
That is a funky [frick]ing helmet. I love it. Not as much as the 1st world war German gas-mask helmet, but cool non the less.
TheAbomination - 3/21/2013, 1:55 PM
I'll give it a shot, but nothing can be Issues 1 thru 25 from 2008 to 2010.
twinkfist - 3/21/2013, 1:58 PM
so star-lords dad says something about the cancerverse and thanos. would have to think that richard rider is going to come back at some point. if star-lord can survive the cancerverse collapsing...how can nova not survive that?
TheAbomination - 3/21/2013, 2:06 PM
I find it strange how they decided to give Gamora a more conservative outfit. I guess Disney wants to make this kid-friendly or whatever.
rondz123 - 3/21/2013, 2:10 PM
Is all the changes to help make the film adaptation more understandable for film audiences
thanos83 - 3/21/2013, 2:36 PM
I implore all "Marvel Cosmic" Fans to seek out the first star lord origin story written in the seventy's by Steve engleheart.. its one of the best ive read, easily up there with the best and brightest.Way better than the regurgitated hackery that bendis is currently spewing out,
KaneRomita - 3/21/2013, 2:49 PM
If that's the one that John Byrne drew then I agree.
sinsear912 - 3/21/2013, 2:49 PM
I wonder if gamora has a sideways vagina
KaneRomita - 3/21/2013, 2:52 PM
Even though I'm not Bendis' biggest fan I'll be checking this out. I've often thought it'd be cool to see Marvel's version of the Federation (startrek) and it looks like they're doing that..

Who invited the Brood though.? Isn't that basically like asking the xenomorphs (alien) to join.?
WakeUp - 3/21/2013, 3:13 PM
The mask on the helmet opens and closes in battle situation. Relax.
laughterman26 - 3/21/2013, 3:39 PM
didnt realise electro joined the guardians. WAY TO GO MARVEL. change his helmet back now.
harlel39 - 3/21/2013, 3:39 PM
Steve Mcnivens pencils have drastically changed, so I guess he works faster
Greengo - 3/21/2013, 4:18 PM
siggisuperman - 3/21/2013, 4:33 PM
Usually not one to complain but... WTF have they done to his helmet ? He looks like Space Guy #2 from a porno movie set! I will be really disappointed if they are changing Star-Lord so they can show the actors face.

Learn from the Dredd fan reaction, we like our helmets ON! for the love of god Marvel CHANGE IT BACK!
thatcoldblackcloud - 3/21/2013, 4:49 PM
The power of hollywood--- Iron Man in the Guardians. Iron man. In. Space.

Just cuz the effing movie's coming out and will probably feature the only real blockbuster making character in Marvel's movie franchise set.
TerminalVoyd - 3/21/2013, 4:55 PM
For all the people wondering about Star-Lord's look, think of it as "retro"....

VonArndt - 3/21/2013, 5:38 PM
Love how Bendis sums up the entire end to the DnA Starlord character arc as "Something about something in the cancerverse and all that" thanks for clearing that up buddy. Now retcon away
mawilli4 - 3/21/2013, 6:16 PM
hey thanks for [frick]ing up his origin. hey is made a lord of the stars by God (if I remember, right?). not his flarking dad. I'll give the book a chance, but you pissed me off already.
ComixBookGuy - 3/21/2013, 8:27 PM
This is the infamous Jaybleezy aka DangerKiD wut up with you homies.
CaptainRedFurySpain - 3/21/2013, 10:06 PM
I don't like Star-Lord's new look, bring the 2008 costume back!!!
TerminalVoyd - 3/22/2013, 12:28 AM
Well, at least there's one glimmer of hope for the movie version of Star-Lord. As Bleedingcool wrote it up....

"We’ve learned that Brian Muir, the movie prop sculptor who worked on the Ark of the Convent, the Space Jockey and even Darth Vader’s mask and armour, is busy at Pinewood with The Guardians of the Galaxy.

I tried to ascertain if he was working on Star Lord’s mask, and was just given the run around. Which leads me to believe he is."

There's a chance Chris Pratt might need a little bit more face time than RDJ to connect with an audience that's not as familiar with him, so he may not be as covered up with a full face mask as Iron Man was, but maybe there'll be some sweet helmet time after all?
