No News Is Good News? Disney Reveals Nothing About STAR WARS EPISODE VII At D23
Alan Horn, Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, was jeered by fans and journalists alike yesterday after revealing absolutely nothing about Star Wars Episode VII, the planned spin-off's or anything else to do with Lucasfilm for that matter. No news is good news though, right?!
No, your eyes don't deceive you! The Tweets above really are all that was "revealed" by Alan Horn about Star Wars at D23 yesterday. He reiterated that the film is pencilled in for the summer of 2015, but that and everything else here has been reported and confirmed numerous times in the past. "I really wish I could tell you more. It will come soon," the Disney boss told those in attendance before being met with sighs and boos from fans and journalists alike. So, what's up with the lack of news? If nothing else, many expected that a specific release date or even title to be unveiled at the event. Could it be that Disney aren't confident that they can meet that release date or is this simply a sign that Star Wars Episode VII is set to be another of J.J. Abrams' highly secretive projects? Between this and the lack of any major Marvel announcements both at D23 and last month's San Diego Comic-Con, it seems far more likely that Disney have decided to not be pressured into dropping anything big at events like these, instead choosing to announcing their plans when THEY want. A sign of this is the fact that Marvel recently announced that Robert Downey Jr. would return for two more instalments of The Avengers on their own site rather than through a trade.
