Still don't like this new costume Slim is rocking.
jlabatman - 8/22/2013, 2:19 PM
Well, actually looks like an interesting story!
HelaGood - 8/22/2013, 2:22 PM
love this book, the art, AND Cyc's costume!
LordHuck - 8/22/2013, 2:33 PM
Ineedrevelation

You just say things for shock value now without even thinking?

Sara Pichelli
Oliver Coipel
Frank Cho
Terry Dodson

I could go on.
ATrueHero1987 - 8/22/2013, 2:35 PM
Loving this title & can't wait for Battle Of The Atom.

SN: They should let Steve Epting or Coipel draw an arc for this book.
TelaVizion - 8/22/2013, 2:38 PM
Hijack's power will really come in handy once he gets some control over it.
DTor91 - 8/22/2013, 2:40 PM
@LordHuck
@Ineedrevelation

Seriously. I'm not even big on Marvel lately and I can admit that they have amazing artists, probably more so than DC and the rest of the industry at this point. Joe Mad is great but he can't keep a deadline to save his life. Plus, he makes a ton of mistakes and liberties in terms of anatomy. And to add to LordHuck's list:

Adam Kubert
David Marquez
Stuart Immonen
Esad Ribic
Jerome Opena
Jim Cheung
Leinil Yu
Steve McNiven
Guissepe Camuncoli
Adi Granov
Marko Djurdjovic
Marco Chechetto
Ryan Stegman
Mark Brooks (come on now, his covers in general, but those Fearless Defenders covers? Gold)
Mark Bagley
Paolo Rivera
Chris Samnee

And the list can still go on.
Even Frazer Irving here is damned good. Just because his style is not super heroes in the traditional sense doesn't make it any less.
DTor91 - 8/22/2013, 2:42 PM
Oh and they have Mahmud Asrar now. That guy made the New 52's Supergirl, and I'm excited to see what he does with Marvel.
DTor91 - 8/22/2013, 2:44 PM
And I HATE when people say the artists suck. It's one thing to not like their art style, but to flat out say they suck? That's a total disrespect to the craft.
beane2099 - 8/22/2013, 2:47 PM
I'll add a few more to that lists cause I like to be a part of things:

Ed McGuiness
Dustin Weaver
Mike Alred
Gabriel Dell'otto
Phil Noto
Simone Bianchi
Matteo Scalera
0bstreperous - 8/22/2013, 2:48 PM
This art sucks [frick] respecting craft
Dragonpiece - 8/22/2013, 2:51 PM
Looks great as usual. Glad we get Cyclops POV this issue.

CYCLOPS WAS RIGHT
vondoom29 - 8/22/2013, 2:51 PM
isnt this artist the same cat that worked on batman and robin?
GUNSMITH - 8/22/2013, 2:58 PM
IM TELLING YOU STRAIGHT UP WHEN I SAY..THE X VISOR ON CYCLOPS IS NOT AS COOL AS HIS PHOENIX FIVE ONE...PHOENIX FIVE ONE LOOKED SO MUCH MORE BAD ASS.

MaskOfRico - 8/22/2013, 2:58 PM
Im sorry, everyones entitled to their opinion, but if you think this art sucks youre a moron, plain and simple. I am so glad that Marvel is branching out into interesting art styles, all that traditional overmuscled Jim Lee/ Joe Mad, everyone looks the same, all the girls have tiny tiny waists and huge boobs BS is embarrassing and belongs in the 90s...... People who say artists like Frazier Irving suck remind me of my 9 year old self being disappointed when Mignola filled in for Liefeld on X-Force.... I was an idiot.....
GUNSMITH - 8/22/2013, 3:02 PM

.....HOW DOES HE SEE OUT OF THAT THING?
pud333 - 8/22/2013, 3:04 PM
Irving is a genius. His art is actually beautiful. I loved his stuff on Batman.
billnye69 - 8/22/2013, 3:30 PM
@Ineedrevelation

Where is your better illustrated international comic? I would love to see it.
simpleman - 8/22/2013, 3:30 PM
Only artists, whose art sucks without a question, is Rob Liefeld and Greg Land. Irving's work on this series is great.
DTor91 - 8/22/2013, 3:35 PM
@beane2099
Great list. I never really cared for McGuiness' work some years back but he's really grown. His work on Nova was awesome and I've seen some of his pre-NYCC commissions. Amazing stuff.

@0bstreperous
Without these artists you wouldn't get your comics. You wouldn't even have your avatar picture either. So respectfully, [frick] you.

@vondoom29
Yup, that's where I first became of aware of his work.

@MaskOfRico
Glad to see someone's opened their eyes. Don't get me wrong, I love Lee's and Mad's work, but there's such a variety of art styles in comics that some just fit better. Tim Sale may not be aesthetically the best artist, but try and imagine stories like Long Halloween without his work? A lot of these people that say the art sucks have no idea how much goes into it to just dismiss it like that. Now Liefeld......that's a category all it's own.
OtakuPapi - 8/22/2013, 3:36 PM
Great book, but fix the art the last few books have given me a headache art wise
Minato - 8/22/2013, 3:39 PM
Yes Frazier Irving was on Batman and Robin when it was Richard Grayson and Damian Wayne. I love the book, art and costume on Cyclops. This is my 3rd favorite look for him.
1.

2.

3.
BlindJustice - 8/22/2013, 3:39 PM
I don't mind new art styles, but when the female characters all look the same in the face (check the cover shot) it gets annoying.

The new suit for Slim is...ugh. This art is almost as annoying as Rob Liefeld's...ALMOST.

My favorite obscure artist would be Mark Texeira.
duncboy - 8/22/2013, 3:40 PM
Regardless of the art, this book has been rad. I agree with those who say it though, this art style isn't a fit for this book.
BlindJustice - 8/22/2013, 3:46 PM

Still have this poster.
AdamX - 8/22/2013, 3:48 PM
look harder they don't look the same @BlindJustice
DioFoRio - 8/22/2013, 3:50 PM
Should have paid those late fee's Cyclops.
Pheezmatic - 8/22/2013, 4:04 PM
damn @ineedrevelation GOT SERVED SON!!
BOOM.

reminds me....anyone been playing that marvel heroes game?
PsyGuy - 8/22/2013, 4:05 PM
Slim's best look. they should do a variation of this!

Minato - 8/22/2013, 4:14 PM
I wish I could play the Marvel Heroes game but I have a mac and it isn’t available.
Minato - 8/22/2013, 4:14 PM
Ive always liked the hood on Slim
Pheezmatic - 8/22/2013, 4:16 PM
i gots mac too, challa. bootcamp that shit dude.
Minato - 8/22/2013, 4:21 PM
I never liked the concept of bootcamp. If I wanted windows I wouldn’t’ve (what a word) bought a Mac in the first place.
jimoakley666 - 8/22/2013, 4:30 PM
Love Cyclops' new costume. This is my second favourite of his. First being the Quitely black bomber jacket and the third favourite being his original 60's suit as currently used in All New.

I must say though, that is a bizarre looking Sentinel. Nothing like any previous incarnations. VERY interesting.
UltimateWarrior - 8/22/2013, 5:30 PM
At first I didn't like it, but Cyclops' new suit has really grown on me.
surferradd - 8/22/2013, 6:03 PM
So far I'm liking this series. It took me a while for it to catch on.
RPD - 8/22/2013, 7:24 PM
When is Bachalo coming back?
1984 - 8/22/2013, 8:41 PM
the 90's costume was the shit for scott
Phoenix8008 - 8/22/2013, 8:42 PM
I don't mind Cyclops' outfit, but dear god that art is atrocious. I can't even decipher who any of the other X-men are besides Magik. Makes me glad I'm only paying for my Valiant comics and not the garbage Marvel has turned all things X into.
PeeJ - 8/23/2013, 12:11 AM
@MaskOfRico

I don't have too much of a problem with the anatomy, despite it being borderline sketch-placeholder standard in some cells. "Why yes, that lopsided trapezoid is a persons torso, you can tell by the yellow x on the matt black"

What I do take issue with is the washed out, vague, watercolour mess that the inking is. Its trying too hard to borrow from impressionism and ends up just being a nonsensical mess. The style doesn't translate well to small action-packed cells, and it hasn't been impersonated well to start with.

In short, yes, art is all subjective and down to opinion, but as someone who knows about art. Its been poorly imitated, implemented and was a bad choice for the medium, so yes, technically, it is bad and for you to say that anyone who thinks that is a moron is not only arrogant, but wrong in addition to that. But thanks for your closed minded input.

Also, story looks really good, and I'm actually quite a fan of the new suit, although it has blatantly borrowed strongly from Tron, and the visor is functionally impossible (he couldn't see out of it, unless Cyclops' mutation now involved his eye placement being move, or actually having one eye). But as with a lot of people, I just couldn't get away with the art. Huge put-off for me.
