POLL: How Do You Feel About Grant Gustin Being Cast As THE FLASH? POLL: How Do You Feel About Grant Gustin Being Cast As THE FLASH?

As they did with Arrow, the CW surprised a lot of fans by choosing a young and unfamiliar face to bring Barry Allen/The Flash to life on the small screen. So, how do you feel about the former Glee star and self-confessed lifelong fan of DC comics taking on the role? Here's you chance to tell us!

Whether or not The Flash will be brought to life on the big screen somewhere down the line by Grant Gustin or another actor remains to be seen, but what we do know is that the 90210 star will be playing Barry Allen in three episodes of the CW's Arrow before speeding off into his own series as The Flash. While the team behind the planned spin-off have promised that we WILL see THE costume, it promises a slightly different take on the character, as we'll be seeing a younger and less experienced Barry who perhaps grows into the character we all know so well from the comics. An official description can be found below. So, what do you guys think of this casting decision?

BARRY ALLEN is a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.

Ive never seen him act before but now IDK if I want him in the DCCU. He has to hold his own with Cavil and Affleck in a JLA movie. I hope he does an exceptional job.

Barry was young when the incident happened to him.

So I'm okay with this.

I honestly have not seen anything he is in. But he does not really look like a Barry Allen to me, Wally West maybe but not Barry.

People need to understand that Barry was young when he first started out as the Flash and the middle aged Barry who we know now is in his prime.

I don't understand that just because JLU Wally is so funny and hilarious that Barry can't ever appear young or crack jokes. He's not a Batman or Superman in terms of seriousness. He's like DC's Spiderman.

I'm ok with it, cause if there is a JLA movie, he will be in his late 20's by then. And he said in a tweet that he was ready to dye his hair blonde if asked to. And Flash doesn't need to be as bulked as the rest. Muscular, but not large.

If someone is going to post polls, I don't know why they dont come up with a decent range of options rather than half-hazardly throwing a few extreme choices together. At least give us an "other" option. I am okay with this choice. Don't think it's awesome. Don't think it's terrible. Wait and see might be a somewhat close option, but I am a little more optimistic about it than that. I guess I will have to wait and see. :-p

Where is the choice: Did Matt Barr do that bad on his audition? lol

Just joshin ya, only time can tell. Still think I would have been fine with him for Wally, and Matt or the other dude as Barry, BUT we need to see him jump into the role before judging. I just wish I was a casting director. ;p

How many posts do you think it will be until that HAILHYDRA dick head lurks his way in. I give it... 15?. Yeah, 15 until we get a comment from someone who apparently hates DC, but can't stop posting on it's newsfeeds. Looser!

Also if the actor will be portraying The Flash in a JL film then i would not mind. Just hopefully he'll get a solo film in the future, hopefully.

Wait, is it OFFICIAL that those TV shows will cross over the DC cinematic universe, or are you guys just speculating at that point? And so what about that Flash movie they announced for 2016? Is it still up? Will we see that guy being the lead? I'm kinda confused right now.

I'm just glad WB is finally showcasing some other characters. If it's as good as Arrow we will definitely be headed in the right direction! I would love to see Aquaman too, a great character who's taken too much $#it over the years!!!

Can we get a FIRESTORM tv series next, CW? :D

Just can't wait to see how they will use and explain powers in Arrow. And I'm affraid this will shaun away some of the fans that prefer non-power universe.

I think he makes a good Flash age-wise. Since Barry was young when he turned into the Flash I have no problem. Now the bigger question, can he act? I love the posts I've seen since he's been casted saying he's the wrong age for Flash by showing a picture of Barry when he's already been superheroing for years! I guess some are unaware that the show will have him develop over time. Patience is not the greatest virtue for comic book fans.

Hellboy 3 can happen. Del Toro is cool with Legenadary and have a good relationship with them. The studio Legendary is going to has Hellboy's film rights. Del Toro, Perlman, & Mignola wants to do a third.

It can happen and is more likely than a Green Lantern or Wonder Woman film.

If del Toro loses the budget a bit, they will let him do it.

@MAC Animation would definitely be the better route but almost no adult oriented network would pick it up simy because its an animated superhero show. Many people will brush it off as a child's show because it's animation.
AnakinsTwin
AnakinsTwin - 9/15/2013, 9:35 AM
Why are we all concerned about this Flash series? Because we don't think they can pull this off with a small CW budget. Well made tv shows are all about the mindset. What if they went for quality over quantity and made 12 high budget/quality episodes instead of 24 cheap ones!!!

Look like Barry shouldn't even be the the problem. The Question is can he act like what you would expect for a Barry.

I just cannot see this kid in a lab coat being taken seriously as a forensic scientist. I'm only happy because I feel theres no way DC uses this guy in a movie.
