No New INDIANA JONES 5 For Two To Three Years; STAR WARS Script Ready In January

It was announced last week that Disney had bough the distribution rights to future Indiana Jones movies, but Alan Horn has now revealed that it will be at least another few years until a fifth instalment of the franchise is released. We also have an update on Star Wars Episode VII and its spin-offs.

Talking at Variety's Dealmakers Breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills earlier today, Alan Horn, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, offered an update on the recent acquisition of Indiana Jones from Paramount. "We haven’t done anything," he revealed. "We don’t have a story. We need a story." He then went on to say that there are least two to three years until that movie will be released, adding that "It didn’t make sense to produce the movie at Disney and then have it be distributed and marketed by Paramount." Horn later reiterated that the plan is still in place to release a Star Wars movie every year, saying that Disney are expecting the Star Wars Episode VII script in January and that they believe that it will cost somewhere around $200 million. "We are proceeding as the folks who own the company, but he’s George Lucas and I’m sure we’ll be in conversations with him," as more movies in the franchise are developed he said of Lucas' role as consultant. As for Horn's plans for Marvel Studios? "These guys have earned the rights to follow their creative vision. I plan to bring them coffee," he joked.

Heck! The longer they take the less unlikely Ford will be able to return with whip and fedora :(

Now, that a shared universe is the new trend, I'd like this to happen

Uncharted and Tomb Raider cross over event would be sweet.

Indiana Jones is the one franchise that could use a reboot and a recasting. Put him somewhere in time before Raiders, maybe tell how things were before he met Marian, working for the university, hell, Harrison Ford could play Indy's father, with a good make up job like he had in 42. Don't retell any of the films, just make new ones with a good cast. People aren't stupid about these things, they'll get it if it's done right.

Atlantis is the only one I can think of. Or another biblical artifact. Those are the only two films they made that were good.

They should have made Indy's child a girl (Lara Croft would be awesome, crazy as that sounds) instead of Shia. Anyway, I would like to see Indy 5, as a completion of Harrison Ford's work, and a hand-off to a new generation.

Since KOTCS was set in the 50s, the fifth film should be set in the 60s, incorporate some of the fab style of the times, perhaps take a trip through London and cross paths with some famous musicians...and I agree, Atlantis might be the ultimate mystery to close things out with.

Stick to the formula that works.

It should be a film focused on a Biblical relic - like the Spear of Destiny.

Raiders - Biblical Relic

Temple of Doom - Potatoes

The Last Crusade - The Holy Grail

Crystal Skull - Crystal skulls

He's 71 (that SEVENTY-ONE) right now. Does anyone think we need to see a 73-74 year old guy jumping from building to building and fighting with a whip. That lemon has been squeezed. MOVE ON WITH SOMETHING NEW.
McFarlaneFan - 12/13/2013, 2:38 PM
@vtopa In the 70-80's Ford, Stallone, Arnold Willis, were the young guys who took over and replaced the old guys: Eastwood, Newman, Bronson, Heston, Brando.
Now that its their time to move on they refuse. Instead they stick around and keep trying to play parts for younger men.
They need to move aside.
