It's a bit too fast in my opinion, but I'm hopeful that Capaldi will do a good job.
marvel72 - 12/26/2013, 4:46 AM
enjoyed the christmas special more than the 50th anniversary episode.

This pulled at my heart strings in a big way! Somehow they managed a drawn out heartfelt good bye with a quick bang there you go!

So sad to see Matt Smith go...he will be missed massively!
SuperDude001 - 12/26/2013, 6:14 AM
Thought the episode wasn't great, but good. Had way too much dragged out and forced emotion, and Capaldi's entrance was just too expected but too sudden.
Still lovely episode, Smith really will be missed and I'm sure Capaldi will be good.
NovaCorpsFan - 12/26/2013, 6:22 AM
Is he Irish?
DelTorite - 12/26/2013, 6:36 AM
Capaldi is scottish.
Hellsboy - 12/26/2013, 7:02 AM
Do you have any idea how to fly this thing? Ha loved that
I loved smiths final words very great even though the episode gave me a headache
MightyZeus - 12/26/2013, 7:08 AM
That dude swears a lot

Capaldi was ace in the film World War Z.
BackwardGalaxy - 12/26/2013, 8:00 AM
I'll give Doctor Who this... They know how to cast leads with truly expressive faces.
ArbroathSmokie - 12/26/2013, 8:06 AM
Capaldi's character in World War Z, was W.H.O. Doctor
MsDarkPhoenix - 12/26/2013, 8:29 AM
Doctor: Kidneys. I have got new kidneys. I don't like the color.
Clara: Of your kidneys?

I love these series! Matt Smith will be missed! When he removed his bow I cried... Peter Capaldi looks great for the new Doctor!

I just started watching this show on netflix. The first season was a pain to get through, but it was alright. I'm on season two and it's pretty good so far. I'm just waiting till the show starts to look better, the show looks like an episode of power rangers from 2005
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:11 AM
How can you watch the HARTNELLs with the gaps in the serials, same with TROUGHTON although his are worse having only 5 complete episodes others get completed but nonsensical cartoon is thrown in to constitute the visuals since many of the audio still exist. I hate those hodge podge ones, I recommend THE MIND ROBBERS surreal and brilliant WHO my least fav DR was def the 3rd I just can't get into his exiled earth time with BESSY lol. That approach just doesn't FEEL like WHO. the doctor is more free wheeling and adventurous
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:13 AM
I haven't decided if I will get WEB when it gets released 1 serial is cartoon outta 6 which still kinda sucks
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:26 AM
CAPALDI def seems like an excellent choice for the DR he has the perfect look I just worry that he will be PERTWEE like if SMITH was TROUGHTON like
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:33 AM
That's why I can't get into TENNANT bc he is the modern DAVISON and DAVISON is def one of my least favs.

The three worst doctors....3,5 and TENNANTs 11 ( he is eleven, 8 was MCGANN then HURT then he regenerates into ECCS)

Three favs.....ECCS, MCCOY, SMITH

HONORABLE MENTION GOES TO 2 bc he would prolly be my fav if I could witness his entire run
Dandy - 12/26/2013, 9:34 AM
I thought the episode wasn't that great of a story but served as a strong farewell to Matt Smith. I can't wait to see what kind of doctor the 12th will be.

1) Tom Baker
2) David Tennant
3) Patrick Troughton
4) Jon Pertwee
5) MATT SMITH
6) William Hartnell
7) Christopher Eccleston
8) Peter Davidson
9) Paul McGann
10) Silvester McCoy
11) Colin Baker

Matt Smith ranks right about in the middle on my list of best to worst doctors.
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:34 AM
I hate people who insist that SMITH was 11 and he wasn't!
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:36 AM
How can you not get into BAKER? Peri is one of my fav companions and he is more aggressive and manic in a contemporary loud 80s way
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:37 AM
Colin that is hahaha
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:38 AM
Pertwee is the JAMES BOND DR I just don't think he fits
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:41 AM
McCoy is the first DR to express his coupling of age and sadness. It started the somber tones his regenerations would start to take that was the last one that truly tried to be happy go lucky BC he was starting to crumble with the weight of his lifetimes and choices
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 9:42 AM
Plus his DALEK episode is one of the shows best ever
WhiteBolt - 12/26/2013, 10:07 AM
Last night's regeneration was disappointing. It was nice to see Amy Pond again though.
4thDoctor - 12/26/2013, 10:37 AM
@Dellamorte1872

You do realize that they aren't changing what the Doctors are called, right? Tennant is still called 10 by the people that MAKE THE SHOW. John Hurt is an anomaly that took up a regeneration but wasn't "The Doctor", and the other regeneration was wasted (or burned off) not causing the physical change so numbering never was affected by it. Even The Doctor (Smith) himself refers to himself as the 11th Doctor.

"Hating" people for something that you are wrong about (yes, you are wrong, all the fan-fic you want to create can't undo what the actual show/writers say), and that you also DIDN'T KNOW YOURSELF UNTIL A MONTH AGO is a bit narrow minded.

Your opinions are just that, so I won't comment on them because that is the joy of fandom, and I like some of your observations about previous Doctors and don't agree with others, but ignoring truth and inciting HATE because of your own opinion is a bit unacceptable.
Batmantis - 12/26/2013, 10:54 AM
@marvel72 - You enjoyed it more than Day of the Doctor? How is that possible?!

@Spidey31 - The show looks great, not sure what you're expecting from a television series.
superbatspiderman - 12/26/2013, 10:54 AM
Your new Doctor is here ladies and Gentlemen.

HavocPrime - 12/26/2013, 11:44 AM
The Christmas show was disappointing, and the way he got his new regens was a horrible deus ex, even though Doctor Who is filled with these, this one took the cake.
JillyMcBeam - 12/26/2013, 11:52 AM
CaptainAmerica31 - 12/26/2013, 12:05 PM
@Batmantis the show looks cheap in it's early years
maninfinehat - 12/26/2013, 12:15 PM
[frick]ing horrible episode, capped off with an unnecessary cameo by the worst [frick]ing companion. Not to mention all the intrigue generated by Gallifrey's return, only for it to be brushed off the shoulder with a simple crack in the wall.

Should've killed Smith off in the fiftieth. Could've come up with a more compelling reason for his regeneration count reboot that way, too.
Bread - 12/26/2013, 12:37 PM
I cried...a lot.
daveB - 12/26/2013, 1:11 PM
I enjoyed that this doctor lived for over 700 years.
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 1:16 PM
@4thdoctor- Wow there's a baby here, one who says he'll ignore something while at the same time taking the time to articulate the fact that he wants to ignore it. You realize you look nonsensical but shout at your comp I could care less what you think but karma is a bitch and you have def [frick]ed your karma up with Whitney fits like that. I feel sorry for you, honestly. Go watch who and jerk-off to it mo-mo
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 1:16 PM
Seriously you must have the worst karma imaginable
dellamorte1872 - 12/26/2013, 1:21 PM
If HURT regenerates into ECCS I count HURT before him. Not acknowledging it doesn't matter when the audience knows he's the doctor, no rational eradicates facts. MCGANN-HURT-ECCS can't try to rationalize around facts
LMB10 - 12/26/2013, 1:24 PM
Matt is the 12th/13th INCARNATION, but IS the 11th DOCTOR. There's no need to be so childish about it.
Dandy - 12/26/2013, 10:38 PM
@dellamorte1872

Sorry dude but you are in the wrong. It's explicity said in The Time of the Doctor.

Matt Smith is the 13 regeneration but the 11th Doctor as said by the Doctor himself in the episode when explaining why he can't regenerate again.

0 Regenerations--First Doctor
1st Regeneration-- Second Doctor
2nd Regeneration-- Third Doctor
4th Regeneration-- Fifth Doctor
5th Regeneration-- Sixth Doctor
6th Regeneration-- Seventh Doctor
7th Regeneration-- Eighth Doctor
8th Regeneration-- War Doctor (did NOT go by the name Doctor during the War)
9th Regeneration-- Ninth Doctor
10th Regeneration-- Tenth Doctor
11th Regeneration-- Tenth Doctor Cloning/Healing
12th Regeneration-- Eleventh Doctor
13th Regeneration-- Twelfth Doctor

Like it or not, that's the official numbering and how the series has decided to go. They nailed it down last episode. Watch it again if you need it to sink in.

JatevinM - 12/27/2013, 1:24 AM
The best part of the episode was Amy coming down the steps and telling her Raggedy Man goodnight. Because of that the regeneration itself should've been a bit more dramatic, but it was beautiful and only right that she see him off.
