After the past few years of cosmic scale event books like Avengers Vs. X-Men and Infinity, the first Marvel event of 2014 will be scaling things back a little and focusing on a murder mystery. Who killed The Watcher? Original Sin will run for eight issues over four months, with a number of spin-off's and tie-in's. Former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury assembles a team consisting of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor to name but a few, while The Punisher, Doctor Strange, Emma Frost, Ant-Man and Black Panther conduct their own investigation. The Watcher has obviously seen a lot over the years, and whoever killed him took that information! The series will kick off in April with Mark Waid and Jim Cheung's Original Sin #0. What do you guys think?

Despite the writer and the artist on the event, I think I'll wait for this event when it's released in TPB form...
Kurne - 1/7/2014, 3:44 PM

ThePowerCosmic - 1/7/2014, 3:55 PM
Nooooooooo! Uatu!!! This better not be 616. Definitely reafing this!

Also I wonder if it relates to the death of the Living Tribunal on the moon.

Spyder - 1/7/2014, 4:00 PM
Is that car a reference to Lola?
NovaCorpsFan - 1/7/2014, 4:06 PM
Does anyone else think it looks a little like MvC3 animation?
Ramiel - 1/7/2014, 4:06 PM
Deodato's art reminds me of Scott Clark's work on Stormwatch.
chewish - 1/7/2014, 4:13 PM
I'm one of the few people who liked AvX (although it could have been way, way better), and I thought Infinity was epic, so I'm pretty damn excited for this thing.

PS: Jason Aaron is a boss
NuclearMan - 1/7/2014, 4:16 PM
The art has to be better than Infinity
DanteSparda - 1/7/2014, 4:17 PM
I'm glad he's dead, he didn't go to my wedding.

@JordanKing
Wait...a flying car in space is stopping you from reading this.okaaaay.Um....you do know it's a comic book and they're filled with make-believe situations and fantasy, right? What's the deference between a flying car in space and a guy flying in space on a surf board? It's all make-believe,you don't take it seriously. It's escapism at it's best.

As for this Marvel event,I'll check it out,I'm always up for a good space mystery.
NuclearMan - 1/7/2014, 4:18 PM
Is it white Nick Fury or the black illegitimate son of Nick Fury?
BlackCondor - 1/7/2014, 4:20 PM
I expect a disappointing reveal.
rabid - 1/7/2014, 4:29 PM
Maybe Uatu Jackson can be the next Watcher.
NuclearMan - 1/7/2014, 4:29 PM
It was Colonel Mustard in the Billiards room with the lead pipe!
SCURVYDOG619 - 1/7/2014, 4:40 PM
Someone must have attempted a home invasion of Uatu's home near the Blue Area of the moon9(non-comic readers: it's a long story...).

So WHO would have the stones to do that?

Well,Wolverine,of course,in X-Men 137...

Let's say Uatu was not happy...lol
SCURVYDOG619 - 1/7/2014, 4:41 PM
Bet it was Doom...
Chewtoy - 1/7/2014, 4:41 PM
@Spyder: Lola is a reference to Fury's flying car in classic SHIELD issues.
NinjaKickTheDamnRabbit - 1/7/2014, 5:07 PM
Marvel events, stop
TheWolverine08 - 1/7/2014, 5:11 PM
Mike Deodato's art is awesome as usual.
OdinsBeard - 1/7/2014, 5:23 PM
dude that is sick! deodato's amazing spider-man was one of my first monthly pick-ups as i was getting into comics.

they took his eyes! i would love for the watchers eyes to become an awesome marvel U artifact.

Whatever man. It's not even close to being a car. It's some of the highest level tech on earth. It just has a car's skin so it can go mostly unnoticed.
Doopie - 1/7/2014, 5:46 PM
whats not to like about this art?

also it would take a helluva lot of chalk to make that outline
Alfredo27 - 1/7/2014, 6:00 PM
THE WATCHER DEAD!!!! Wow now that is a story line to work with.
Alfredo27 - 1/7/2014, 6:01 PM
if you complain about this event stop reading comics or associating with them.
space - 1/7/2014, 6:13 PM
Deadpool did it? Look at the eyes on the outline, too obvious?
HotRodFan899 - 1/7/2014, 6:28 PM
@Alfredo27

wow, that's pretty childish. "If you don't like it, don't read it!!!" Wow, just, wow.
HotRodFan899 - 1/7/2014, 6:31 PM
Marvel is having too many events. Remember when everyone bashed DC for having Final Crisis a mere 2 years after Infinite Crisis? Marvel has an event every year, and they are just getting worse in terms of quality. Civil War was good. Then we had Secret Invasion, which was pretty good. Then Siege, which was meh. Then Fear Itself, which was crap. Then Avengers vs X-men, which was fun, but wasn't exactly a masterpiece. Then Age of Ultron which was meh, Infinity which was meh, and now Original Sin. It's not out yet, but I'm betting it's just meh.
HotRodFan899 - 1/7/2014, 6:33 PM
Doc Ock Spider-man killed him. He knew the Watcher could spoil everything and tell people who he is (which means Otto doesn't know the Watcher just watches), and because Otto is "superior" to everyone and everything in the Marvel universe, that means that he and he alone can kill the Watcher. So yeah, it's Doc Ock on the moon with a candle stick. And the Avengers will find out, and applaud his courage, because everyone is super stupid when they are around Spider-man since Superior Spider-man started.
RyGoR - 1/7/2014, 7:56 PM
Damn that's messed up he's so friendly he will be missed R.I.P. Uatu #watchingfrombeyond

My question though is how did he not see it coming he's always watching important stuff I think his murder might be up there in importance :P lol
User1134 - 1/7/2014, 8:09 PM
That Sucks That Fathead bit The Big One...But, He'll Be Back, He's Too Awesome!
PunkRockJesus - 1/7/2014, 8:12 PM
beane2099 - 1/7/2014, 9:00 PM
This happened in Quasar back in the day. He had to solve the mystery of who was killing Watchers. Turned out Watchers could will themselves back to life. Doubt that story will be mentioned here though.I

Aaron and Deodoto are enough to make me want to read this and yet I probably won't cause I'll be saving my comic budget for Starlin's Thanos graphic novel. Anyways, these aren't really "events" anymore. It's just another mini series (with tie-ins). Last year we saw Age of Ultron and Infinity. AoU started Spring/Summer as well. So Marvel will likely announce a second mini series for September which will be their big story.
