Even Stan Lee Wants To See Some More Interesting Characters In AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Have you been hoping that we'll soon see some more interesting heroes join the beloved Agent Coulson and, er, the rest of them? Well, Stan Lee has now shared his thoughts on Deathlok and Sif coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., emphasising the necessity for more "colourful" characters.

In a desperate bid for higher ratings this coming Tuesday's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will feature a "surprise" cameo from comic book legend, Stan "The Man" Lee. Talking to IGN Movies recently, Lee was asked to share his thoughts on how the series has headed in a different direction to the comics by focusing on Agent Coulson and a team of unknown characters. "Well, I guess they felt they had to have some normal people — or seemingly normal people — and certainly Clark is doing a very good job playing the role. I just feel that we also need more colorful characters to be popping up all the time. I don't mean that Clark isn't colorful as an actor, but what I mean is characters who as comic book characters are more colorful." As for whether or not he believes that the upcoming appearances from Deathlok and Sif will help fill that quota of colourful characters, he added: "Yeah, that will be great. I think that's what the show needs. I think people will tune in to see those characters and will enjoy seeing them in the context of being with normal people on a normal mission." What do you guys think? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

This show has all the quirkiness of a Whedon show without the charm.
QuestiontheAnswer - 2/1/2014, 8:29 AM
Finally this guy speaks rationally.
MrMartinMarvel - 2/1/2014, 8:33 AM
Can someone less biased please write the AOS articles from now on? Or can Josh at least actually act like a [frick]ing professional?
gannicus - 2/1/2014, 8:33 AM
does anyone think this show will go to a second season ?
marvelstudios - 2/1/2014, 8:34 AM
He is actually pretty spot on.
Bodwulf - 2/1/2014, 8:35 AM
Yes, bitch , bitch , bitch about how ya hate it then wonder why they don't make more of the stuff.

In other news: Rest in Peace Arthur Rankin Jr. whose productions with Rankin Bass shaped many of our childhoods.

marvelstudios - 2/1/2014, 8:35 AM
@gannicus

One of the show runners, I forget who, said that they have a solid 2 year plan for AOS. I'm guessing this show was always meant to be at least 2 seasons.
Rhysno1 - 2/1/2014, 8:38 AM
When writing a news article at least try and stay non biased Josh
MsDarkPhoenix - 2/1/2014, 8:38 AM
If Gregg doesn't apologize on twitter or somewhere for calling people losers because they had an opinion, I'm not watching the show again. Such a shame, it was really getting better but I don't want to support bullies. Next time, think before you open your mouth Clark!
SecNotSure - 2/1/2014, 8:39 AM
I liked the part where he said that he “desperately wants to see more interesting characters".... smh
rebellion - 2/1/2014, 8:40 AM
i'm shocked he didn't say:'' well i think it's just great.'' nice to see him speaking his mind for once.
DrDoom - 2/1/2014, 8:41 AM
Josh Wilding just can't help making power users seem like entitled, unprofessional jerks.

Good job, Josh.
Battabing - 2/1/2014, 8:41 AM
What Stan Lee really meant is, "Get rid of AOS shitty show runners."

It's funny that even he thinks this show is downwind of its potential.
batz11 - 2/1/2014, 8:41 AM
Many, many "great" shows sucked in their first half or even first full season...Arrow wasn't nearly as good as it is now, that's for sure...Breaking Bad was almost cancelled (and passed on by four big networks, including HBO)...Seinfeld and Friends barely made it past their pilots...give them a full season at least, they can address the criticism and short-comings...

On a totally different note, watching "After Earth" - could be the worst acting ever from a kid...just go away, and Will seems to have lost it too...bad acting, bad movie...

StarYeezus - 2/1/2014, 8:41 AM
Seriously Josh, what crawled up your ass? You act like Jed Whedon kicked your dog or something. If this shows puts you in so much agony, why report about it at all? Oh that's right, fuel for flame wars and confirmation bias.
batz11 - 2/1/2014, 8:42 AM
Is this an editorial?
UltimateNullifier - 2/1/2014, 8:43 AM
Jesus, Wilding. Those of us who like the show get that you don't like it. And Stan didn't sound like he "desperately" wanted anything. Somebody get this guy a lapdance or something.
ALmazing - 2/1/2014, 8:43 AM
"In a desperate bid for higher ratings" bias much?
MsDarkPhoenix - 2/1/2014, 8:43 AM
Stan Lee usually says what he really thinks about the movies and stuff. Not always, and even when he does he is diplomatic but at least he isn't like 'OMG this is perfect, everything is perfect, I love everything'.
Vaportrail - 2/1/2014, 8:45 AM
Stan gets it. Listen to The Man.
ALmazing - 2/1/2014, 8:48 AM
In the same interview where he called some people "losers" he retracted ""I guess I don’t mean to say that people who have been frustrated by that discovery period are necessarily losers. I just think they should be, perhaps, a little more patient."
Pedrito - 2/1/2014, 8:48 AM
What the hell is up with JoshWilding and his inflammatory articles?! Is he just pissed that he didn't get any of the hot scoops posted first?

You don't have to stoop this low for comments and page views, buddy.
ricko8687 - 2/1/2014, 8:49 AM
At least the show is getting better
UltimateNullifier - 2/1/2014, 8:50 AM
Josh Wilding is the Maury Povich of CBM.
ALmazing - 2/1/2014, 8:51 AM
Shouldn't personal opinions be in editorials?
ManDeth - 2/1/2014, 8:51 AM
Who watches this show and why??
averageBEAR - 2/1/2014, 8:52 AM
Darkpheonix- Are you really upset that he said that. There are people who called me an idiot for liking IM3, do you see me crying
StarYeezus - 2/1/2014, 8:53 AM
People here only support Stan Lee when he agrees with their opinions. Remember that time he said Superman's ability to fly was less logical than Thor's? Everyone was foaming at the mouth, calling him a hack and praising Jack Kirby, etc.
ALmazing - 2/1/2014, 8:54 AM
@Mandeth-About 6.5 million people on a average, reasons vary.

UltimateNullifier - 2/1/2014, 8:55 AM
@neonkid - I remember that. I'm surprised Stan Lee has even watched an episode of this, seeing as how it airs three hours after his bedtime. Lord knows he can't work a DVR.
Pasto - 2/1/2014, 8:57 AM
Whats up with the hate on Josh? Doom you metallic goober.
ShawnMadden - 2/1/2014, 8:58 AM
Geez Josh, troll much?

@MrMartinMarvel your def spot on man.
Marvel1997 - 2/1/2014, 9:00 AM
Exactly. I knew I wasn't the one noticing that some of these articles have been biased as [Frick]. Lol pretty pathetic and low actually
