Josh Trank Sets The Record Straight On Those Plot Rumors About THE FANTASTIC FOUR

Badass Digest managed to catch up with Josh Trank today to clear up those rumours about The Fantastic Four. The pretty dodgy sounding logline reappeared online today after some sites reported that they were contacted by 20th Century Fox and asked to remove it on the grounds of copyright infringement. That certainly made it appear legit! However, according to the site, "[Josh Trank] strongly, without caveat, denied the story details that led to Slashfilm getting legal attention from Fox. "The only truth in that plot description is that there are four characters named Reed, Ben, Sue and Johnny," Trank told me. And he was pretty adamant. "You'll see in June of 2015," that the plot description is absolutely untrue." He also confirmed that @josh_trank is indeed his Twitter account, and is said to be extremely passionate about making the movie. What do you guys think? It should come as a relief to learn that there's no truth to that supposed story outline, but some actual details on the reboot seem to be much needed at this point...

Good job Josh. Do you have any clue about when Fox will announce casting?
Interestein - 2/4/2014, 1:31 PM
I want to have faith in this film, a great director, and a great pick for JOhnny Storm, but the young cast bothers me. It would be much better if it was back home at MS.
Opticblast - 2/4/2014, 1:32 PM
Well at least the release date is locked down. The rest I'm sure they'll just throw together.

DEVLIN712 - 2/4/2014, 1:33 PM
A release DAT is just about all this film has...
Joementum - 2/4/2014, 1:41 PM

DrDoom - 2/4/2014, 1:42 PM
Did you ask if the movie was going to not suck?
GoldenOne33 - 2/4/2014, 1:43 PM
I don't believe anything he says.
npamusic - 2/4/2014, 1:53 PM
so what he's saying is no young cast? lmao doubt it.
npamusic - 2/4/2014, 1:54 PM
@Alpha if they're so bothered they should reveal something, ANYTHING about the film. Official casting.. something....
Joementum - 2/4/2014, 1:54 PM
Roger Corman is his inspiration

cosmicman - 2/4/2014, 1:56 PM

Comedian03 - 2/4/2014, 1:58 PM
This movie has had so many rumors, "facts", plotlines, stories, casting additions, things being debunked and then resurfacing, that I really have NO idea what to believe anymore lol
ekrolo2 - 2/4/2014, 1:59 PM
I wish WB did this for Batman VS Superman. Rumors can paint the wrong picture to people about your movie and I really like the fact Trank is just debunking them as fast as he can.
Omarvls - 2/4/2014, 2:00 PM
EVEN AntMan gets more love then this F4 Reboot I had forgotten it comes out 2015
Oh well

I'm an unapologetic fan of Marvel Studios and it's just a shame to know that the "First Family" is going to get a working over from Fox Studios...again. Years ago when the first film was being planned their was talk of having it actually take place in the 1960's with an aesthetic that was similar to Alex Ross's work on Marvels. It's too bad that they don't do that with this one. Why not have a corner of a shared universe take place during the 60's/70's? If anything, it would make mutants and the Fantastic Four seem much more amazing and fanatastical.
LastAvenger99 - 2/4/2014, 2:00 PM
We haven't seen one thing from this movie and Josh Tank has already denied all those rumors. How about we all shut up and see something from the film first then make a decision.

SuperSomething616 - 2/4/2014, 2:01 PM
I dont care anymore...i just want all the other studios to fcuk up and lety Marvel have the rights back...

ALmight - 2/4/2014, 2:02 PM
Having the director denying the rumor is not enough to kill the rumor apparently.
ekrolo2 - 2/4/2014, 2:03 PM

So they can [frick] up X-Men and Spider-Man like they have Thor and Iron Man HHEEEELLLL NAW.
TheBlackNerd - 2/4/2014, 2:06 PM
"THANK YOU" now can everyone pleaseeee chill out?lol
pesmerga44 - 2/4/2014, 2:09 PM
Didn't Trask vehemently deny the rumors Jordan was Johnny Storm and those turned out to be true so not to sure to believe him.
the1egend1ives - 2/4/2014, 2:11 PM
When do the rights to this film expire so Marvel can have them back? At this point I believe Fox is too wound up with the X-Men franchise to really focus with the Fantastic Four. We've heard only rumors about this film which leads me to believe that the FF will pull a Daredevil and expire soon.
Optimus83 - 2/4/2014, 2:11 PM
Coolest. ...Fantastic Four
LastAvenger99 - 2/4/2014, 2:11 PM
I LOVE MARVEL STUDIOS BUT Hank is a 60 year old spy apparently, Wanda and Pietro are not mutants and will likely have a very bad origin, The Mandarian was a fake actor (now marvel has to make it seem it was really a different plan all along), Ultron will not be created or even linked to Hank. no Wasp although she was a founding member of the avengers and part of what holds them together, the Norse Gods are aliens and the Infinity Gems are not really gems per say but very odd nebulous objects. Black Widow isn't Russian. Tony removes his chest piece, Paul Rudd as ant-man.

one rumor comes out about this movie

U Mad
sikwon - 2/4/2014, 2:11 PM
Or.... the FF plays a role in the events of Days of Futures Past and they are trying to keep a super tite lid on it. I mean why not? Fox has no regard for the characters or story anyway so it wouodent be that bad or that far fetched.

Thing is, when Latino Review first posted that synopsis months ago, the SCREENWRITER denied that it was true. And it became one of the only dumb ass rumors that LR has ever retracted.

Now the DIRECTOR has had to debunk this shit twice more.
thewonderer - 2/4/2014, 2:13 PM
I love how everyone here finds their own reason to fuel their hatred for Fox.

Wait for announcements, not rumors, and then judge.

Most of you will hate anything they announce anyway because it's not marvel studios
ManDeth - 2/4/2014, 2:16 PM
If it's fake then why deny it at this point?? Wouldn't he welcome a bit of cover from a fake synopsis??
KINGPEN266 - 2/4/2014, 2:16 PM
bythepowercosmic - 2/4/2014, 2:20 PM
Doesn't this movie shoot next month? And there's still no official casting announcements yet? Hmmm...
ManDeth - 2/4/2014, 2:21 PM
How many people thought Fox's Fantastic Four was really close to Corman's when they 1st saw it?? I did.

And Hugo Weaving's Red Skull was similar to Scott Paulin's. I actually liked Paulin's better.
Weaving's reminded me of cornball Nazis on the old Wonder Woman show.

MARVEL STUDIOS: We are please to announce we have director Josh tank who will helm Fantastic four after his success with the film chronicle!

FOX STUDIOS:We are please to announce we have director Josh tank who will helm Fantastic four after his success with the film chronicle!

LOL im just kidding guys
pesmerga44 - 2/4/2014, 2:34 PM

Different take on Hank Pym older superhero possible retired member of SHIELD. Marvel can't use the rights to mutants owned by Fox but even though they are both the children of Magneto they are Avengers well before X-men with neither one ever joining the X-men so really they are where they belong. Also Quicksilver has a long history with the Inhumans so making them Inhuman not that big of a deal. Whedon's comments might have been to protect Wright's movie ideas to get out so they could later be revealed or Pym created the original prototype and the one we have in the movie is an evolution on the prototype by somebody which creates Ultron 5. No idea about Wasp we will see how that goes in Ant-man. Again not that big of a deal they are not gods just advanced long lived aliens that visited Earth and mistaken for gods not a huge stretch and doesn't change the characters. Really bitching about the infinity gems you are really stretching for things there and Black Widow is Russian just because she doesn't speak with a Russian accent doesn't mean she isn't Russian. Go watch Avengers again they talk about her Russian past.

The issue with Gad is he is overweight and even if they went with a purely CGI Thing his voice doesn't fit at all his voice is so non intimidating it isn't even funny.
Liverpool4life - 2/4/2014, 2:35 PM
Start filming and get on with it. Tired of talk and rumor.
