What is going...
...?
The fvck...?
So is this a future thingy or another reality or what?
Y'know, the current continuity can be really interesting, too, y'know. Look at all the good stuff that Morrison's left everyone to play with. What about Ra's army of Damian clones and how they might actually be the Mutants from Dark Knight Returns? Surely that might be interesting. You don't need to go to the future or create an alternate reality all the time. Just stick with the current continuity and have the balls to do something interesting with it and take it forward.
Between Snyder's Batman and Tomasi's Batman, the current New 52, in the wake of Morrison's run is an extremely exciting and interesting place bursting with potential and possibility.
Also, there are aspects of pre-Flashpoint continuity that have never happened now, so we could just have re-interpretations of those cool older stories and events. AzBats maybe?

Huh? Wha? ?Que?

I gotta say, the one and only thing that's starting to irk me about Scott Snyder's run on Batman is the whole weird timeline angle. I don't want to see a Batman origin story (set in a post-apocalyptic Gotham, for some reason)... I don't want to see a dystopic near-future storyline featuring a bizarre steampunk Batman in thigh-high boots.

I sincerely love your work thus far, Snyder, but can't you just get back to telling regular old BATMAN stories? 'Cause this is starting to feel like Grant Morrison's run all over again, and that is NOT a good thing...

I'm not digging Batman's aviator Batsuit...

His chest armor looks like the carbon fiber material you would see on a street racing car.

Fingerless gloves? And is he wearing thigh high boots???
MagnusRex22 - 2/10/2014, 11:49 AM
The second cover is just a steampunk variant. DC is doing it with all their titles, none of the characters will actually wear anything like that. This is in continuity, I think this is a view of Gotham a year from now. They needed extra pages for the conclusion of the second arc of zero year and were running behind so they pushed that back a month and are having this as a combo preview of batman eternal and future Gotham. I think Harper Row will be a big part of Synder's story after zero year so he's also setting up whatever her new role will be. From the promo art, it looks like she'll be the Nightwing or something like that.

^^
LOL fingerless gloves LMAO

Is his armor chest sparkling?

The thigh high boots are only messing the heels.
jimdotbeep - 2/10/2014, 11:56 AM
Why is dc suddenly doing everything in their power to make Batman Suck. Harper does NOT need to be Nightwing or Robin. They need to stop the Bullshit shock Death and let Batman be Batman.
Gquinn - 2/10/2014, 12:02 PM
uhh is this supposed to be post forever evil ??? is there any continuity between the two? cause that batman looks very thomas wanye jr (owl man like eyes )
MarkV - 2/10/2014, 12:09 PM
Court of the Owls was fan [frick]ing tastic.

This however...well this looks bad.
CPIXLEY - 2/10/2014, 12:13 PM
You guys, that is one of the "Steampunk" variants. DC is making them for all of their major characters.
MarkV - 2/10/2014, 12:14 PM
THIS is what batman looks like, since there appears to be some confusion on the matter:

MarkV - 2/10/2014, 12:14 PM
Batman is not steampunk. Hope that helps.
CPIXLEY - 2/10/2014, 12:43 PM
@MarkV, of course he isn't! DC is just doing a bunch of steampunk variant covers.
staypuffed - 2/10/2014, 1:27 PM
God, this thread is retarded.
staypuffed - 2/10/2014, 1:28 PM
They are not wiping Zero Year out of continuity. It's fantastic. This is a story set post-Forever Evil, as a #0 issue to Batman Eternal. The variant cover is one of a series of Steampunk variants DC are doing for tons of books.
batcheeks8 - 2/10/2014, 1:31 PM
Regime? New Gotham? Okaayy..
GLprime2814 - 2/10/2014, 1:52 PM
Some of the comments are just dumb
PhilWillKIll - 2/10/2014, 2:21 PM
Surprisingly, not many of the visitors of comicbookmovie.com actually read comics. It's in continuity, it's only months into the future and the Steam-punk suit is a variant.
GliderMan - 2/10/2014, 2:29 PM
I wonder if Zero Year will have any effect on Gothtopia..
CASH - 2/10/2014, 2:49 PM
Stripper boots?! TF?!

lol it definitely seems that way.
blkchi - 2/10/2014, 4:02 PM
Progresss the character lee the damien son thing solidify it in the new trilogy how about the playboy gets a mate for a good 10yr run all the alt reality stuff i cant get..until i get rich then ill buy every f....... book i can
TheFox - 2/10/2014, 5:43 PM
Ah! Thank you @MagnusRex22 for being the first to point out that the variant cover has absolutely nothing to do with the content of the book... a trend that is REALLY starting to piss me off, incidentally. Why slap a cover on a comic book that has NO CONNECTION to the story being told behind it?

Ah, well... I'm still a little worried by this weird dystopic set-up, but at least Batman is still Batman. And I'm curious to see where the hell they're going with Harper Row...

Sooooo many stupid things have been said in this comment section haha..

That cover is the "1:25 Steampunk variant cover by HOWARD CHAYKIN" and it's not intended to actually look like Batman.

Batman #28 is not part of Zero Year. It's an issue that is intended to preview what will be going on when Zero Year is over and Forever Evil is over.

@AlphaFlexXx I'll pretend you weren't trolling and I'll answer your questions. No, Zero Year is incredibly great and it will be in continuity for the next 30 years or so whether you like it or not. And No, as long as DC Comics exists the Batman comic will never "take a break."

@PhilWillKIll I agree 100% with this: "Surprisingly, not many of the visitors of comicbookmovie.com actually read comics." I wish they would stop posting such stupidity and actually go read the comics but I know it will never happen.
