BOX OFFICE: ROBOCOP Takes The #1 Spot From THE LEGO MOVIE, But Not For Long...

Jose Padhila's RoboCop opened at #1 in North America yesterday despite the adverse weather, although it appears as if The LEGO Movie will remain on top this weekend as the animated feature starring Guardians of the Galaxy's Chris Pratt will continue to dominate.

The weather in parts of the US has had an impact on the box office performance of all films this week, although RoboCop did manage to steal the #1 spot from The LEGO Movie yesterday with a $2.8 million haul. Phil Lord and Chris Miller's animated movie wasn't too far behind though, as it managed to safely hold onto second place with $2.1 million. That brings its current domestic total to $75.6 million after only five days, and The Wrap reveals that it's expected to beat RoboCop over the upcoming Presidents Day weekend. The LEGO Movie is projected to earn as much as $55 million, while RoboCop will take $45 million (although the weather could have an impact on those numbers) Which of these movies are you planning on seeing over the next few days?

I'm hearing a lot of good stuff about Robocop
charlie2094 - 2/13/2014, 10:22 AM
Glad they're both doing well! :D

Enjoyed RoboCop, thought they did a pretty good job. Haven't see the Lego Movie but heard a lot of great stuff, will definitely go see that at some stage

Robocop is actually a solid movie, I really enjoyed it last night.
SuperCat - 2/13/2014, 10:28 AM
Good news! A lot of folks are expecting this to flop. Catching it Saturday.

I know right! It's not even fake, the guy was genuinely torn up by a badger... when my friend told me I was like, "Whoa... that's messed up... but [frick]in' hilarious!"
REPOMAN - 2/13/2014, 10:37 AM

Not a huge Opening Day. I seriously doubt RoboCop will earn $45 million over the next 5 days.

NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 10:38 AM
Let's see how long it takes before I'm in the Hall of Shame.
MercwithMouth - 2/13/2014, 10:38 AM
@MrFriday

Isn't that only like 6 points behind MoS?? Lol. RT don't mean shit.

RoboCop looks great, but not great enough for me to drive 2 hours to a cinema.

[NovaCorpsFanGonnaFlipYa - I know right! It's not even fake, the guy was genuinely torn up by a badger... when my friend told me I was like, "Whoa... that's messed up... but [frick]in' hilarious!"]

It is fake.

Aw shit... well there goes all my happiness.
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 10:41 AM
I'm gonna feed a midget to a badger, see what happens.
Melkaticox - 2/13/2014, 10:44 AM
I think I'll go see Robocop next monday...it premiered a week ago over here.
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 10:44 AM
I'd certainly [frick] that one, Bravado.
ezio619 - 2/13/2014, 10:45 AM
im gonna see robocop this weekend too, i loved the lego movie,hopefully robocop is good
cipher - 2/13/2014, 10:46 AM
Can anybody spare a midget? We've got some experimenting to do.
cipher - 2/13/2014, 10:46 AM
Bless your f*cking heart, Bravado.

Lovely.
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 10:47 AM
I'm sorry but the headline alone is just bizzare to even call into question. "Gordon Ramsey's Badger-Eaten Dwarf Porn Star: Just A Myth?"
I never thought that'd ever be a thing in my life.
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 10:47 AM
How tall are you, Gusto?
MercwithMouth - 2/13/2014, 10:49 AM
@Nova

I think Gusto would probably scare the badger away by trying to rape it...
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 10:51 AM
Merc

Good point. Any volunteers? Preferably someone suffering from depression and maybe a bit dense.
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 10:53 AM
Stacks seven Bud Lights one on top of the other. That's about 4 feet. That qualifies as a midget, right?

Gusto! Buy a ticket to Wales, we're going badger hunting!
ShawnMadden - 2/13/2014, 10:55 AM
Honestly, loved RoboCop. And $45M is more than was projected. Hope it does well because it definitely sets up a sequel and deserves it. Kinnaman killed it as Murphy.
TheUltimateSuperman92 - 2/13/2014, 11:01 AM
robocop was decent film, I liked it and I hope for a sequel ...
MatTaylorX - 2/13/2014, 11:03 AM
Shame on anyone who watches RoboCop. You complain about remakes and then you still see it! Idiots.
Nomis - 2/13/2014, 11:04 AM
@ Gusto - LOL!!!!

Why is that guy in the pic wearing a poster with Lorne Michael (creator of SNL) name on it on his chest! LOL!!!!
TheUltimateSuperman92 - 2/13/2014, 11:04 AM
yeah AgentEX@ Kinnaman was very good as murphy ...I liked the cast alot ...but there was something missing I don't know what it was but I would say bring up a better villain for the next installment ...
NovaCorpsFan - 2/13/2014, 11:07 AM
Whatever'll make you comfortable, Gusto.
charlie2094 - 2/13/2014, 11:10 AM
@MatTaylor

I like to think more people were open to the idea of a remake than not. Its a great way of retelling a great story in a different way for a new audience, not to mention they did a pretty great job of it

@AgentEX

I agree, Kinnaman was pretty good as Murphy, be great to see a sequel. My only real problem was that some of the fun was left out and that the scenes with Sam Jackson sometimes felt out of place, but other than that a very solid remake
B4TM4N - 2/13/2014, 11:24 AM
Very good movie. . Don't read the reviews they are full of SH.IT. They have done a good job with thos remake. Decent take on story
B4TM4N - 2/13/2014, 11:26 AM
@Charlie2094
Agreed sam Jackson felt out of place just need a bit of fun and sarcasm.
dcnoob122 - 2/13/2014, 11:31 AM
its a shame. The movie had a talented, but wasted cast
FerFogs - 2/13/2014, 11:40 AM
Josh, seriously:

How do you say something like "Padhila"?

It's PADILHA. Jeez.
Maximus101 - 2/13/2014, 12:30 PM
I seriously am. It getting the reviews for rooftop, I went to see it last night and it was really good. Better than the reviews it's getting, problem is that people are comparing it with the original and you can't do that. They are both very different, my only complaint about it is that it should have been a little more violent.
