This May, writer Dan Slott and artist Ramón Pérez will shed some light on Peter Parker's early days as Spider-Man in Amazing Spider-Man, Year One: Learning to Crawl. "When you're looking at things in those issues, you're going: 'Wait a minute! How did this happen? How did he get this? Where did this come from? Why didn't Aunt May ever wonder about that?'" Slott said in an interview with The Associated Press today. "Learning To Crawl" kicks off in May with Amazing Spider-Man #1.1, and Alex Ross has painted a cover for each instalment of the new series. However, what will it add to the already very familiar tale? "Someone's running around trying to be just like Spider-Man and there's no way in Peter's mind that he's not responsible for everything that guy's going to do," Slott revealed. "He's got his first villain who is his own age, someone that he's inspired. He's a troubled teen hero fighting a troubled teen villain!"

We so do not need this.
Jollem - 2/14/2014, 9:49 AM
this sounds really cool
CaptainObvious - 2/14/2014, 9:52 AM
Out of all the people they could have gotten to do this, they chose the on person who has been ruining Spider-Man for the last several years.

Could have been much worse, though. Joe Quesada could be writing it.
Cles - 2/14/2014, 9:57 AM
A year one story written by someone who doesn't understand the character. Awesome. :(
Boyle360 - 2/14/2014, 10:00 AM
I don't think I like Alex Ross' art anymore. :(
snif - 2/14/2014, 10:01 AM
This is fantastic! I would have liked to see a cover by Granov and story by Joe Kelly but either way this gets two fuzzy thumbs up!
Millz333 - 2/14/2014, 10:03 AM
I don't mind Slott on Superior, it's been interesting - a little all over the place at times. REALLY despise "Peter's" little person GF. BUT i definitely think this would be a perfect opportunity for someone new to come in and write some kick-ass Spidey shit.
KrazyForKomix - 2/14/2014, 10:05 AM
Ahhhh, Disney. Mu-u-u-uh-ah ha ha HAHAHhaHAhAHAhahAAAHAH!
Today, an origin story no one needs. Tomorrow, rebooting Star Wars!
Primordiac - 2/14/2014, 10:07 AM
Ughh...Alex Ross and his lame cosplay art again.
WYLEEJAY - 2/14/2014, 10:09 AM
My favorite character......that I have completely lost interest in reading since Dan "The Mole Man" Slott took over.
RedeemerOfSouls - 2/14/2014, 10:09 AM
Alex Ross covers were more interesting in the 90's before we had dozens of live action CBMs.
Now they are very uninteresting. He still uses the old spandex look and for some reason likes to make his characters look old and tired.

I'd rather see a bad cover from Marvel's stable of third world country artists than yet another bore from Ross.

But since Dan Slutt is writing I won't spend a cent on this crap. So f**k this!

then...whats the point of "SPIDERMAN SEASON ONE" i mean...why re make...again the origin!
Lizardking310 - 2/14/2014, 10:10 AM
Another not needed origin story....sorry your not taking my money
FantasticSpidey - 2/14/2014, 10:15 AM
Lots of Dan Slott hate. Does not compute.
HelaGood - 2/14/2014, 10:16 AM
why cant they just move forward? i dont need to read about the time peter got his braces off...
VIRILEMAN - 2/14/2014, 10:17 AM
I was about to call my comic shop to pull and hold. Then I saw the words "Dan Slott." Pass.
VIRILEMAN - 2/14/2014, 10:18 AM
Dan Slott. Ruining our favorite character one issue at a time.
SuperJoe - 2/14/2014, 10:23 AM
Cool let's copy DC!
aRandomSinisterClone - 2/14/2014, 10:29 AM
after ripping off the reboot, now they steal DC's year ones. wow
TheClemster - 2/14/2014, 10:32 AM
@ mcGee

not unless you put your brain in Peter Parker's body :)
WYLEEJAY - 2/14/2014, 10:32 AM
I mean really...Dan Slott has taken the character so far from his roots hes not recognizable anymore. If you want to read an edgier more hardcore Spider Man go read Scarlet Spider. We didnt need Octo Spider. I know some people enjoy Superior Spider Man, but they literally ruined Peter Parker.
WYLEEJAY - 2/14/2014, 10:45 AM
I think Alex Ross work looks amazing. This isnt my favorite piece, but its a lot better than that super cartoony stuff we have been seeing on a lot of the covers lately.
RedeemerOfSouls - 2/14/2014, 10:48 AM

WYLEEJAY - 2/14/2014, 10:52 AM
@Darkgunslinger. Hahahahaha! See......tell me that guy doesn't look like he could pull off The Mole Man!
Spidey10 - 2/14/2014, 10:53 AM
Why do they do my boy like this????
121 - 2/14/2014, 10:53 AM
Hmm. How about going back and erasing everything in the TASM timeline after One More Day and rectify that?
TheClemster - 2/14/2014, 10:54 AM
Yeah never liked alex ross

superheroes look like they wear pajamas with him
Mrcool210 - 2/14/2014, 10:56 AM
Last time we got someone trying to add to peter parkers orgin we got total shit. I doubt this will be different.
Shamo - 2/14/2014, 10:57 AM
DC presents Amazing Spider-Man: Year One

How original Marvel
Gaebora - 2/14/2014, 11:16 AM
Wow, how do people hate on Ross' art?
Primordiac - 2/14/2014, 11:21 AM
@Gaebora

Technically his work is amazing, I mean, the man can draw and paint. But beyond that everything else is just sh!t IMO and completely devoid of any personality and imagination.
quasi95 - 2/14/2014, 11:25 AM
Bruce Campbell as Jay Garrick would be [frick]ing awesome! Did you make that yourself itCameFromPlanetEarth?
Gaebora - 2/14/2014, 11:28 AM
@Primordiac

Well, to each their own, I guess.
121 - 2/14/2014, 11:31 AM
C'mon, Alex Ross Haters...You KNOW that it's HIS version of ANYTHING you'd most wanna see on screen....right?

TheClemster - 2/14/2014, 11:33 AM
Hum... nope

haha
dcnoob122 - 2/14/2014, 11:37 AM
I am neither excited or hateful
ekrolo2 - 2/14/2014, 11:40 AM
So you're going to revisit the origin to promote the new movie to the people who saw the last movie and bitched about the origin being revisited? Where the [frick] is the logic doing this?
HeadPool420 - 2/14/2014, 11:41 AM
That story sounds so zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........
ekrolo2 - 2/14/2014, 11:41 AM
@PeterkDarker121

I like his art but FFFFUUUCCCCKKKK NNNNOOOOO.
121 - 2/14/2014, 11:49 AM
@ekrolo2 But "No" on what counts? I GET that onscreen in the 2014, the Silver Age costumes don't translate into everyday functionality, but other than that, I don't see the distaste for his interpretations.
