This throw-back art style is really interesting. Especially since Marvel has really held tight to that slick look for so long. At least they're opening up to other approaches. I like how some of these approaches come out.

That first cover, I take it that's the artist for the new Ghost Rider series?
His work has a real 'new school' look to it.

Who is that guy in the suit in front of Modok...and is he clutching Modoks lower lip?
TonyChu - 3/7/2014, 2:06 AM
^Agent Phil Coulson. He is now an official comic book character.
Shroombeast - 3/7/2014, 2:09 AM
The guy in the suite is Agent Coulson. I love that they wrote him into the comics.
I'll definitely be picking this up, but the inclusion of MODOK baffles me...
TonyChu - 3/7/2014, 2:10 AM
I don't know why but I have a feeling that the girl Skye on Agents of SHEILD will end up being Spider Woman aka Jessica Drew.

Ales Kot is a great writer, he finished up the last run of this with Nick Spencer, who I think is one of Marvel's best writers right now. he does Superior Foes too.

I'm excited about this coming back, and I just recently found out about last year's Secret Avengers and here's the deal...

it's a SHIELD comic. and it's rad. it has to do with all this psychological mind [frick]s and just weird weird spy stuff. like not James Bond SHIELD running around in Madripoor and Istanbul and doing James Bond shit.

I mean, sure they'll be in Madripoor and Istanbul, but it's neo-Bond, really hardcore weird spy stuff. that's just incredibly rad. and MODOK is working for SHIELD now, so we'll find out what's up his atrophied little sleeve there.

this is an example of how idiotic Marvel's marketing is.

this is a SHIELD book. it's everything that a rad SHIELD book should be, but they're trying to make sure nobody possibly knows that by calling it Secret Avengers. ok, Marvel, i guess u know what you're doing.

either way, i'm excited about this, just for the writing and stories, but this art looks like it might be cool too.

Trad Moore only did the cover on this, but off topic, i wish he'd done a cosmic book instead of Ghost Rider.

I just think it would've been a better match. i gotta read Ghost Rider tho, i don't really know how it goes with the writing, maybe it's fine. for all i know.
dethpillow - 3/7/2014, 2:22 AM
@ShadowPimp723 - yeah similar art, but the book itself is nothing Hawkeye.

if it's anything like the stuff he co-wrote with Spencer during the last run, it's gonna be dense, and considerably trippier and heavier.
dethpillow - 3/7/2014, 2:23 AM
but totally, i see what you mean.
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 3/7/2014, 3:46 AM
I dig the artwork, takes me back to the sixties and seventies. This book looks like what AOS should be like. Radical and fast moving.
Bluntman - 3/7/2014, 4:02 AM
I was going to pick up marvel now secret avengers tpb volume 1 for a read, now this is a new #1 umm Im confused
loki668 - 3/7/2014, 4:09 AM
The first cover makes me want to punch babies. It could be that I dislike the art or it could just be that I REALLY like punching babies.
UltimateTypeface - 3/7/2014, 4:34 AM
im so sick of new #1 and reboots after 24 issues - [frick]ing shits me
marvel72 - 3/7/2014, 4:49 AM
number 1 issues use to mean something, like we all dreamed of owning classic's like x-men 1,avengers 1,fantastic four 1 & so on. now there is more numbers 1 than needed.
User1134 - 3/7/2014, 5:11 AM
I Love How After The Movie, Everyone Thinks Hawkeye IS Useless...
jimoakley666 - 3/7/2014, 5:35 AM
Loving the artwork. Also loving the new look, spider-legged MODOK. Freaky.
KrazyForKomix - 3/7/2014, 5:37 AM
Another relaunch? How shocking.
Someone better warn Marvel – Superior Spider-Man is about to hit it's 30th issue. Sales are SURE to plummet as reader complaints about overly complicated continuity are sure to rise!
KeefNCookies - 3/7/2014, 5:47 AM
And here I thought Marvel NOW! couldnt get any worse. Shouldve known the All-New NOW! would be exponentially crappier.
ManCalledSting - 3/7/2014, 6:05 AM
Lame. Kill off Black Fury and Coulson.
Manogeek - 3/7/2014, 6:09 AM
How do you do anything in secret with a Big Ass floating face rollin' in your crew?
thatiscrazy - 3/7/2014, 6:48 AM
Okay, We can clearly see where this is all going now. I'm assuming that this is what MODOK will look like on film.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 3/7/2014, 6:53 AM
@ManOfGeek M.O.D.O.K. isn't rolling with the crew. He is an informant (snitch) and builds weapons for the secret Avengers. Read folks.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 3/7/2014, 6:56 AM
@gusto you gone senile old man. Coulson has been in the MU for awhile now. Probably 2 years now.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 3/7/2014, 6:58 AM
Lol at the hulk fists placed in that secret shooting range.
blackandyellow - 3/7/2014, 7:18 AM
I kinda like the art. Reminds me of David Aja.
SageMode - 3/7/2014, 7:25 AM
Mike Deodato should draw every single comic book at Marvel from now on.
jlabatman - 3/7/2014, 7:28 AM
Storyline looks good, and the artwork isn't too bad!
pointman - 3/7/2014, 8:03 AM
@SAGEMODE
Agreed! His artwork is cinematic to say the least!
jlabatman - 3/7/2014, 8:24 AM
have no idea gusto * throws away key to lock of abandoned frig in the woods with monkeyballs inside*, none at all!
blackandyellow - 3/7/2014, 8:45 AM
LMAO. Thanks, Gusto.
SageMode - 3/7/2014, 10:07 AM
Artwork looks good to me
Kyos - 3/7/2014, 10:56 AM
I like this art!
BezierCurve - 3/7/2014, 11:42 AM
Art looks great. The more super spy books the better.
CaptainSporty - 3/7/2014, 1:06 PM
black widow should get nude. this is close enough tho
mgeoff88 - 3/7/2014, 9:42 PM
