Actually, this is some of the best looking JRJR artwork in a llllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg time!

But it still looks like crap compared to his earlier stuff.
Pasto - 3/13/2014, 9:44 AM
Pheez I'm gonna punch you in the eye.
KrazyForKomix - 3/13/2014, 9:45 AM
Excellent as always!
If I was buying "floppies" anymore, THIS would be one of the few DCs I would buy.
JordanKing - 3/13/2014, 9:45 AM
Who knows, one day he might learn to draw correctly.
aRandomSinisterClone - 3/13/2014, 9:47 AM
wow, he sucks at faces. why does everything look like kickass
cipher - 3/13/2014, 9:47 AM

This needed a shot of his crotch. There's not a cover in the world that wouldn't be improved by a good crotch shot.
Pheezmatic - 3/13/2014, 9:48 AM
Don't make me interrupt mah family wahl they mud bathin!!

My brudder got them crazy eyes!
DTor91 - 3/13/2014, 9:49 AM
@JordanKing

And what is drawing correctly exactly? This is just fine.
Vadakin - 3/13/2014, 9:50 AM
Man that suit remains horrible, no matter who's drawing it. Damn you Jim Lee.
mikefont - 3/13/2014, 9:52 AM
I am HUGE fan of Romita Jr's work from the 80's and 90's (along with Klaus Janson's inks), but John's recent work always looks like he's rushing and not taking his time, like he's mailing it in just to get a paycheck. He can definitely do better!
rogmel - 3/13/2014, 9:52 AM
Hey look, it's Captain America.....no, wait, it's Kick-Ass....no, it has to be (insert any character that JRJ has drawn over the past 10 years).

Well at least he didn't draw him as one of the many kids/midgets in his comics. We'll have to wait for the flashback scenes to see Mini-Clark, I guess.

Pheezmatic - 3/13/2014, 9:53 AM
@Doopie come get suum baby :)
Klone - 3/13/2014, 9:53 AM
Ain't gonna have a thing in Snyder's work.
RolandD - 3/13/2014, 9:57 AM
There's something to say about an artist who has their own style and is easily recognizable. That does not always equal good art though. Give me his artwork from the '70's when he was just getting started, i.e., Iron Man or his '80's work, but take this back to Kick-Ass.
Ramiel - 3/13/2014, 10:03 AM
Horrible! DC must hate Superman like Marvel hates Spider-Man.
Doopie - 3/13/2014, 10:05 AM
i liked his Daredevil stuff the most i think
Doopie - 3/13/2014, 10:05 AM
also nice mullet
HugoStrange87 - 3/13/2014, 10:05 AM
Not a fan of the artwork. I was perfectly fine with the art of late in Superman but I'm happy that Johns is writing. Glad to have a subscription too.
FantasticSpidey - 3/13/2014, 10:08 AM
"DC must hate Superman like Marvel hates Spider-Man."

Don't bring Spidey into this.
Tevii - 3/13/2014, 10:10 AM
Not a fan of his artwok almost ever... but this cover is kinda cool
SigmaCenturion - 3/13/2014, 10:18 AM
Artwork is really rough not a fan of it.
batcheeks8 - 3/13/2014, 10:28 AM
god I hate this guy

bring back Kenneth Rocafort
Fastestmanalive - 3/13/2014, 10:31 AM
Hate, Hate JrJr's art. But optimistic about Geoff Johns coming on. We'll see how it goes.

On the particulars of the story it sounds like a rip off of the Wraith from Unchained. But again it sounds like Johns has big plans for Supes so we'll have to see. Cautiously optimistic for now.
KrazyForKomix - 3/13/2014, 10:45 AM
@ whoboy62
So right (mostly).
Disclaimer: I am NOT comparing J.R.J. to any of the greats down through the ages. So I don't want to here any complaints about "daring to compare him to . . " X,Y, or Z.

If Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Carmine Infantino, Bill Sienkiewicz, or Gene Colan were drawing today (not yesterday, but today), their unique styles would be savaged by this crowd. All of them played with proportion and rendered the human figure in such bizarre ways that caused the viewer to re-evaluate what the comic experience was all about. The advantage THEY had was that they got to evolve slowly into their iconic techniques with no one commenting or caring what they did - AS IF they had suddenly popped on the scene full blown geniuses.
I restate for the hard of reading: Johnny Romita Junior is NOT as good as those giants previously listed. But his path to a unique style is exactly the same.
You may not like his style . . . but the man can draw.
That cover up there has nothing to complain about (other than the over-wrought Jim Lee uniform).
like I said before, if I was still buying "floppies," that would be one of the very few I'd purchase.
How about we focus our ire on some of the more mediocre artist, those without any vision.
Fastestmanalive - 3/13/2014, 11:01 AM
Also that drool looks nasty.

Just found out they are upping this book to 4 bucks. WTF!!!!!!

SO PISSED!!! Why the extra dollar???? For the shitty art?? I've been collecting since #1 and I love Supes but this book is this close to being dropped.
Reni - 3/13/2014, 11:03 AM
Terrible
campblood - 3/13/2014, 11:07 AM
costume looks terrible
HavocPrime - 3/13/2014, 11:34 AM
Romitta is hit and miss with his work but the cover looks pretty good.

And I am glad that Lobdell is off Superman as his run has been boring as shit.
Doopie - 3/13/2014, 11:36 AM
KrazyForKomix

exactly right
MikeHawk - 3/13/2014, 12:21 PM
Why does his nose look like a penis
Viltrumite - 3/13/2014, 12:23 PM
I'm loving that cover, and I couldn't be more excited for this run, that solicitation sounds great.
Nomis - 3/13/2014, 12:29 PM
@ MikeHawk - LOL!!! uh...that might on your part. ;)
