What is Thor protecting here? By having Galactus blast him through the Earth that pretty much dooms Earth and with a broken moon we'd end up with Earth being ravaged by Tidal Waves, Earthquakes, etc... so yeah, as the title says, Earth is [frick]ed.

So... What is he actually fighting Galactus for?
BATMANx - 4/11/2014, 6:26 AM

Sophisticated - 4/11/2014, 6:31 AM

Demongod20 - 4/11/2014, 6:35 AM
Why the hell is the MCU Thor so powered down. Damn I love Thor but his Movies are so mediocre.
OdinSon2k14 - 4/11/2014, 6:38 AM
This is what is missing from the solo films. There are powerful "little guys" that give Thor more trouble than he can handle. But if you're gonna bring Thor to an IMAX sized screen, you cant ignore his jumbo sized foes. Joss Whedon threw a gamma mutated green beast and Chitauri monsters at Thor in Avengers. He knew what he was doing :). The "little guys" have a place, like the Chitauri grunt soldiers.

Malekith is but a servant of Surtur in the comic run. So he belonged in Dark Workld but just not as Thor's most threatening foe. Malekith and Kurse should have been appetizer antagonists for the TITANIC monster Thor was to battle to end the movie.

The comic Frost Giants are big enough to step on Thor, but they were shrunken down to the Ultimates version, where they're only 10 feet tall and can be played by actors.

The 2011 Jotun monster and Dark World rock beast are "middlweight" type Thor foes, but th. ey were beaten with just ONE blow. Destroyer was beaten rather easily too. Thor needs a heavyweight foe for the third film, that it takes him some work to beat. I'm talking torn up outfight and large scratch marks all over his body :).

This looks amazing!

NitPicker - 4/11/2014, 6:48 AM
@Scarilian

This story takes place 1000s of years in the future where the Earth is a barren wasteland. Thor is unsuccessfully trying to bring life back to the planet by planting trees. He visits the Earth with his 3 grand daughters and shows them his garden which isn't doing too well. They tell him he is wasting his time and that he should move on with his life. Galactus shows up and wants to eat the Earth. Thor refuses to let Galactus eat the planet because Thor was born on Earth and has fond memories of it.
ComicBookGoth - 4/11/2014, 6:49 AM
And Lo, Galactus Vomits.
NitPicker - 4/11/2014, 6:53 AM
@JorL5150

This story takes place in two time periods.

In the future, Thor is King of Asgard and is the only God left (besides his 3 granddaughters).

In the present, Thor is the same Thor that we see with the Avengers.
GodzillaKart - 4/11/2014, 6:53 AM
@JorL5150: It's a future story.
pointman - 4/11/2014, 6:58 AM
This art is HARD to follow. Maybe some of these artist should go back to basics and read how to draw comics the marvel way.
marvel72 - 4/11/2014, 7:03 AM
OUCH!

@ BATMAN1X

its thor of the future,you really need to read this title its great.
muttonman - 4/11/2014, 7:04 AM
Thor spends his time destroying factories? What a bunch of crap... Did this turn into a Captain Planet comic?
Ramiel - 4/11/2014, 7:09 AM
That last panel cracked me up. Who says Thor can't be funny?

@pointman

Hard to follow? This art is beautiful.
RetroFit - 4/11/2014, 7:11 AM
Wow, now THAT is art! Holy Cats!
RetroFit - 4/11/2014, 7:14 AM
Wow, I just read the synopsis. TERRIBLE! Thor spends his time destroying pollution-spewing factories and the bad guy spends his time building new ones. And the SHIELD agent Thor is involved with is an environmentalist? What kind of leftist claptrap is this? The art is amazing, but the agenda taints it all. And why does King Thor have an eye patch and the exact same hair as Odin did at that age? They couldn't differentiate him in SOME way???
Tuuralihn - 4/11/2014, 7:19 AM
"I quite liked that moon." hah!
ProfessorX - 4/11/2014, 7:20 AM
Dialogue is bad, art is bad... *shrugs*
ForMeToPoopOn - 4/11/2014, 7:29 AM
Environmentalist SHIELD agents? The [frick] is this shit?

thunderforce - 4/11/2014, 7:30 AM
I would think if Thor has the Odin force and he has his full power he should be more powerful that Odin ever was , he would be able to fix the moon easily . As for Galactus , how did Odin do against him ?
jlabatman - 4/11/2014, 7:40 AM
Wow Galactus punched Thor through Earth to the moon? That is an awesome series of panels!
TheBoss117 - 4/11/2014, 7:40 AM
Wow. Epic
jimoakley666 - 4/11/2014, 7:50 AM
Looks like old King Thor is going to kill Galactus.
Superpotts - 4/11/2014, 7:58 AM

Josh you're a great article writer but you're posting spoilers in your titles. Please stop this as x books and god of thunder are two of my favourites at the mo and you're taking the zing out of them a bit.

Cheers

RexDartEskimoSpy - 4/11/2014, 8:19 AM
Ouch. He'th gonna be tho thore in the morning.
ChuckV - 4/11/2014, 8:37 AM
@RetroFit

Agreed.... that plot sounds HORRIBLE. "In the future, Thor is King of Asgard and is the only God left???"
Plus, What is Thor actually fighting Galactus for? A empty, dead Earth?? Seems like more FAN FICTION from
Marvel. SIGH.
StarGateAcademyDirector - 4/11/2014, 8:52 AM
Thanks @Nitpicker for providing some background for those of us who do not read this title. Definitely consider picking it up when it comes out in graphic novel form.

I agree with @Odinson's and @Demongod's comments. Marvel has been guilty of underpowering Thor a little bit.

Speaking of power, whatever they do in MOS 2, Zack Snyder better not underpower Superman. During their aerial battle in MOS, Zod throwing Superman through seven skyscrapers was a sight to behold. More epic fights please. Bring on Mongul or Darkseid.

Hollywood should not be scared of showing mass destruction. If you think mass destruction is over the top in Transformers or MOS, just wait until Godzilla arrives next month. Make sure you have your insurance policies in place because the The King of Monsters does not play around!
