I think you can see Stark Tower in the opening city scene from TASM trailer!
GrayFox1025 - 1/25/2012, 5:10 PM
Isn't it a matter of rights ownership is why Spider-Man won't get any type of crossover with any other Marvel movies, similarly with X-Men?

I would think if anything, Nick Fury could say something like "NY's Daily Bugle features pictures of another costumed hero, might be worth checking out" or something

Who knows, maybe we might get a cameo
RyanLantern77 - 1/25/2012, 5:13 PM
Are you [frick]in kidding? Two seperate properties bro... No chance they can connect the two
MatioShack - 1/25/2012, 5:13 PM
That's right. Fox has the rights to Spider Man while Marvel/Disney has the rights to the Avengers characters. You could theoretically see Spider Man in the Ghost Rider sequel, but not Avengers. You can see which studios own rights to which characters here.

who knows? but it would be great if Toby Maguire is Spidey.
xNightwingx - 1/25/2012, 5:32 PM
Sony owns Spider-Man movie rights. FOX has FF, X-Men, Daredevil, and Elektra.
spiderman2020 - 1/25/2012, 5:32 PM
Sony owns Spiderman so i doubt he would ever be in an Avengers movie.
thewonderer - 1/25/2012, 5:43 PM
Yes they are owned by different people but you guys need to understand that they share merchandising

Honestly where is the loss in SPM making a cameo in Avengers? If anything it'll get people more hyped for the actual movie no? Its a win win for Sony
Ironnick - 1/25/2012, 5:44 PM
We'll find out in a few months.
Godzillafart - 1/25/2012, 5:47 PM
@Sneezer: Yes, and it will be great if Adam West has cameo as Batman.

How can a site dedicated to Comic Book Movies, be so AMATEUR when it comes to understanding how movie studios work? Marvel Studios and Paramount aren't going to cross promote Spider-Man for another studio. Though Marvel owns Spider-Man, they don't own the movie rights. They will not strongly promote any of the movies involving their characters, that are made by other studios, now they they are in the movie making business. The movie rights to Spider-Man and X-men, were sold before Marvel got involved in films. Also, now that they are owned by Disney, the master plan will be to let the other studios rights expire to all live action and animated Marvel characters and get all the characters in the hands of Disney. This site also posted the moronic story that Liam Neeson WILL BE IN DARK KNIGHT RISES, because he said he was on set for 1.5 hours. It would take longer than that to get through makeup and costume. Even if Neeson is in the film, the fact he was on the set for a brief time is still not reason to make such a claim. He would have to be on set for several hours. Filmmakers shoot scenes mulitiple times and from multiple angles and it then gets edited together. THOSE WHO WRITE FOR THIS SITE, COME ACROSS AS MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS, WRITING ABOUT THINGS THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND.
acidbath - 1/25/2012, 6:08 PM
Cool as it would be it won't happen while Sony owns spiderman
TrueRedBlue - 1/25/2012, 6:10 PM
We can want it all we want, but the fact is that its just not allowed..
genesis609 - 1/25/2012, 6:14 PM
fox, sony and all these studios are dumb not to let these caracters go into eachothers universes for free.... do they not get that it will be better for there own stand alone movies in the long run?
EditNinja - 1/25/2012, 6:17 PM
No, they don't have the rights.
acidbath - 1/25/2012, 6:20 PM
Bgg its right in the article that it is rumor and nothing more. I think the survey is interesting because it shows how many people are willing to take it as fact based on speculation. I personally wonder how many of those votes are just wishful thinking without truely believing it. You asked what kind of comic book movie site would report this and I say a Damn good, thorough and interesting one.
blueballs - 1/25/2012, 6:59 PM
I'm pretty sure Kevin Feige stated there would be no other superhero cameos for this movie as there was already enough characters to juggle in this film without having to service another character if even for a quick moment, that said and forgetting that it's unlikely Sony would do this as execs don't understand how to share their toys it would be cool to see spiderman show up but how do you have him show up and not do anything in the film? Especially when there an invasion going on in the city she obviously just doesn't know what she was saying Kevin is laughing at this as we speak
Dopamine - 1/25/2012, 7:15 PM
@blueballs
Um kevin Fiege confirmed it in this interview

darkknight9761 - 1/25/2012, 7:51 PM
Not gonna happen. Different studios own the character rights.
merrillmind - 1/25/2012, 8:22 PM
KEVIN FEIGE ALREADY CONFIRMED THIS! SPIDER MAN WILL CAMEO IN THE AVENGERS DEAL WITH IT PEOPLE!
DoomFans - 1/25/2012, 8:39 PM
^^ I think you right, bro.
Super12 - 1/25/2012, 8:47 PM
She probably thought Cap was Spidey...silly girl
blkyank - 1/25/2012, 9:45 PM
I doubt this will happen, but if it did, this would be huge.So far, the build up to this Spider-Man film is nowhere near the Raimi films and they could use the boost.A cameo now puts Spidey in the same universe as the Avengers and even if Sony never gives the rights back, leaves the option open for greater cooperation (and development money)from Marvel in the future. How big would it be to have Garfield(pre spider bite)
watching Ironman fly by? Anybody who is not stoked for the Spider-Man reboot would flip out knowing that 2 months later Garfield's Peter Parker will meet his date with destiny and become Spider-Man.
CrashTest - 1/25/2012, 10:17 PM
I freakin wish!
TheGlove - 1/26/2012, 12:39 AM
It's a total mistake man, thats all. god,you geeks will piss your pants over anything, the woman obviously knows nothing about comic characters.
Some people dont you know!
SkaarJones - 1/26/2012, 12:44 AM
We can dream.
SuperSomething616 - 1/26/2012, 1:40 AM
Ownership rights are not relevant if the studios who own the rights come to a mutual benefical agreement...

Obviously The Avengers is a much larger marketed film and Sony have a good working relationship with Marvel studios...

Spiderman having a cameo in The Avengers would really help bring to peoples attention (who arent comic geeks) that a new spidey film is out this year...after The Avengers...

Its not that hard to see the reasons why Spidey would have a cameo...
phoenixphil - 1/26/2012, 2:55 AM
I can't see it happening as even if an agreement was made I'm sure Marvel / Disney would want a version Spiderman (rather than the Garfield one) that they owned to appear.

At best there may be a brief reference (possibly on a computer screen) to Peter Parker or Oscorp or something.
KungFuKoala - 1/26/2012, 6:35 AM
I just think it would be really neat to have nothing more than a glimpse of Spiderman web slinging in the distance during the final battle in New York. After all, it's Spidey's neck of the woods, and if a guy with mechanical arms can get him all worked up, then I'm pretty sure he'd take more than a passing interest in an alien invasion.

Nothing more than that - it could just be one shot, the kind of Easter Egg that requires repeat viewings (so you could see why Marvel might be willing to pay Sony for 2 seconds of Spider-Man's time. more $$$$ at the Box Office for The Avengers).
JohnnyKrypton - 1/26/2012, 6:58 AM
Bunch of silly dreamers around here...Marvel Studios wasn't allowed to use the name 'Empire State University' in TIH because Sony owns it as part of their Spidey rights. There is ZERO chance they allow the character's use
villain001 - 1/26/2012, 7:12 AM
Have to admit its nice that they have cut down on the polls on the main page
Kaziganthi - 1/26/2012, 7:22 AM
I seriously doubt it will happen. Even if they did have a cameo by Spider-man, how long would that take, really? Why would they have a whole Winnebago set up for someone who is going to come in and film one tiny scene?
Zordan - 1/26/2012, 7:41 AM
i heard something also
SpiderFan35 - 1/26/2012, 10:41 AM
Maybe we will be treated to another blurry object far off in the distance like the other crap "easter eggs" from TIH that have been paraded around the net.
SuperFrost - 1/26/2012, 10:47 AM
I wish it happens, it would be cool to see!
AdmiralCrunchy - 1/26/2012, 1:02 PM
While I know that it is a longshot I can still see it happening for a couple reasons.

1. Sony & Marvel/ Disney made an exchange deal.
Marvel wants to expand its movie universe, but don't have the rights to other characters that they wanted so they made a deal. Sony would be allowed to have S.H.I.E.L.D. in their movie giving the back story of Peter Parker's parents working for the organization. In turn they could have Spider-man/ Peter Parker make a cameo.

2. Sony needed the hype for their film.
With their movie going against other including the Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises Sony could be worried that their film could be overlooked by the big two. If they were to put their character in Avengers it would garner big hype for when their film comes around.

3. Sony already made previous merchandising deal with Disney it seems that the two companies are more than willing to work with each other on the property.

4. So much god damn money.
really if nothing else there could be a million opportunities that Sony could use this to suck as much money out of Marvel/Disney, us and anyone else who could be involved in the deal.
TrueRedBlue - 1/29/2012, 8:23 AM
I denied it at first, but the more sources keep saying its true, the more I believe it. It'd be the coolest thing ever if it did happen though!
spideyboy - 1/29/2012, 8:42 AM
You never know... I think it will be cool seeing Spidey fighting along side with them. And if its true, they did a damn good job of hiding it. I have a feeling that we'll have to wait after the credits.
biggcess - 1/29/2012, 8:50 AM
It will most likely be Nick Fury tracking him down and asking if he's interested in joining and Andrew turning them down because he feels like a small fish compared to the "big guns".

Pretty cool.
SuperSpiderMan5778 - 1/29/2012, 8:53 AM
i don't see why this is so hard to believe i mean after all money talks
SebHope - 1/29/2012, 8:54 AM
I doubt it but come on if it were to happen its not going to be spiderman itll be peter parker, as it obviously makes no sense for spidey to pop up, in this big battle developing and swing away. But the main reason i doubt it, by sony placing a spidey cameo in the avengers it implies he's apart of that universe. I dont think sony would want their franchises story connected to another studios. The buzz wouldnt be worth the aftermath of questions, and as i doubt spiderman showing before peters become spiderman in his own franchise, then that little possibility of peter showing would be lost on the mainstream public who proberly wouldnt notice him out of the TASM context, and him being their wouldnt put the film in their head anymore then outside promotion.

Also fieg hasn't confirmed shit, i have that empire, no such comment and that link

http://bestmoviesevernews.com/avengers-movie-shows-off-more-images-plus-insider-details-2928/

Isnt a quote from fieg its bad wording from the writer of the article, whose actually saying if it were confirmed it would be a pretty pointless endeavour in a convoluted way.
wbrowning79 - 1/29/2012, 8:58 AM
maybe. But use Tobey Maguire for your spidey. I mean there was a rumor that we were going to see the original web head with iron-man and captain America. But then again maybe not... Would it be weird or would it be cool? hmmmmmm...
Gerrit - 1/29/2012, 9:37 AM
I hope not. This Spider-Man is horrible. I would agree with Spider-Man in the Marvel Movie Universe only if Marvel Studios gets his rights back.
ACira - 1/29/2012, 12:33 PM
never going to happen. The Avenger's can't even use the Daily Bugle, Sony owns the movie rights to that too, which is the reason Ben Urich in Daredevil worked for the New York Post instead.
capreborn - 1/29/2012, 3:14 PM
why do we entertain this silly rumors ?
MatioShack - 1/29/2012, 3:24 PM
Spiderman is coming out this Summer alongside the Avengers. Why in the HELL would Disney/Marvel promote a movie from ANOTHER STUDIO that they're going to be competing with directly? The fanboy in me of course wants to see this happen, but the realist in me knows it's not gonna happen.
EarOne - 1/30/2012, 7:17 AM
i think as long as Sony owns spidey's movie rights, marvel studios shouldn't feature him in their movies, even if fox pays a shit load of money. it'll just be too big a distraction.

now, i won't mind if we end up seeing both Andy Garfield and Emma Stone appearing as a cupla bystanders watching the Avenger doing battle with their enemies..not necessarily as Peter and Gwen, but just a nameless cameo.
Zaxspeers - 2/5/2012, 10:12 PM
If and this is a big IF. Yes they do share merchandising, which could have had a deal attached to it for a cameo, I believe the cameo is going to be of Peter Parker and not Spider-Man. Yes I know that Peter is spider-man, but if the heroes exist in the same universe then obviously the cameo has to take place before peter gets his costume but knows how to use his powers. The only logical conclusion for a cameo would be that Peter Parker walks past and has no powers. Making TASM happen after the events in the Avengers. This is just my theory "IF" the cameo happens.
