The X- Douche bags are willing to take a chance on blowing up the planet to save their race. That's pretty selfish if you ask me.

So the X-Men get a ridiculous and unneeded power up that makes no sense and now people take their side? El oh el.

I went Avengers again, and where this is going reminds slightly of the situation from the Justice League three part starter. The world lays down it's arms for Superman to protect them, and then an outside force makes them realize without Supes, they can't protect themselves. The event has grown on me as well, I am curious how this will play out, and what the ramifications (if there are any) will be.

I was very disappointed with how it started and the first few issues. Now I'm eagerly anticipating the next issue. But the fights have been a disappointment. Namor would turn Cage into sushi.

yeah i pretty much agree but i think the main Round 5 book has been the best so far. I think Hickman is currently on the reins.

Hm. Okay, sooo.....
Free clean drinking water for everyone....
Free unlimited energy for everyone.....
more than enough food to go around.... and, what, the Avengers are jealous?
Prof X tells Cyclops "this is cheating" becauuuse.... no bloodshed? Or because it wasn't himSELF who brought about the good stuff.
Man, I know how to take a gift with a "thank you" instead of a "f*ck you".
I think this was the best book of the entire series to date. Sorry, JRJR... but the art is just flat-out better. And the story was much more fleshed out and coherent.
People always call Cyclops a douche, but I like him because he's doing his job and not pussyfooting around.
He said it best and who can argue --- they always come for the mutants. Even when they're pushed into a corner, even when their numbers are dwindled down to nothing. They just keep coming after em, and coming after em. If you wouldn't say 'enough' to that kinda pressure at some point, you're lying.

Cyked, I totally agree. I'm with the X-Men if for no other reason than they're the scapegoats. And what do you think is going to happen when you keep beating and pummeling an entire people? They eventually stand up and say enough, and rightfully so. Mutants tried every way possible to exist peacefully and then even segregated themselves completely and it still wasn't enough. I say let the world learn a lesson about pushing others to the brink unwarranted.

@TheMyth
I hear ya. Even recently Magneto saved the entire city of San Fran from an earthquake and didn't get so much as a thank you card. He might be a bad example [being a former terrorist and all] but the Avengers have plenty of bad-now-good people rotating off their roster, too.
The "ugly stepchildren" comment made earlier in the series applies face-on. What's so different about the FF or Avengers that made their freaky powers cool, whereas the X-Men's freaky powers were so uncool?
Sentinels? Genocide at Genosha? Government programs & torture? No More Mutants? And now tht there's only 200 mutants left on Earth, the Avengers show up with a kidnapping warrant? And the other Avengers go to the school in New York and just PICK a fight cuz they can?
Maaan.... I'll bet you they somehow turn this back around so the X-Men can once again be 'bad guys' and the Avengers re-become the 'good guys' before the series ends. Same ol' shit.
But I'm just glad [as of this issue] the world can see how their bias against these mutants has been harmful to their own self interests. These cats have always been heroes, yet they've always been treated like ugly stepchildren.

Muckle - This event sucked? It's not over, and if u don't like it..don't read it.
X-Douches? - All sad cause the Avengers are winning everywhere else except this series, it's a comic book dude, how bout you be a little more pissed, they could all die and we'd still have to wake up and go on with our real life responsibilities, chill the eff out.
I love Marvel's big event's, everyone else is crazy

Two of the most intelligent things I've read in this site. Agree with you both of course.
I'm more of a Cyclops fan than an X-Men fan but as long as Scott is leading, I'll side with the X guys.

X-Men! ...Always Have Been, Always Will Be...
The next series could be the X-Men get bloodlust and start eating children... and I would still root for them to kill and devour every child in the MU...

@Mentok... right with ya buddy.. havent even really given wolverine's xmen book a second thought since there's no cyke
I almost find it weird that people cant/dont identify with where Cyclops is coming from... because to me its plain as day..
If Cyke becomes a villain at the end of this event, he will have an extensive origin story as potent and powerful as Magneto or Darth Vader

@Mentok, Myth, Bark4Soul --- sometimes I think I'm the only one not jumping on the Avengers bandwagon, so it's cool to see other folks here who are on my wavelength, more or less.
Just seems to me that when Ultron comes blowing up shit or Thanos is trying to kill off everybody.... yeah, THOSE are things the Avengers should be trying to stop. But being kinda jealous-acting and fighting because "Umm.... we don't know what the consequences of the X-Men doing all this nice stuff will be..." well, that's not an Ultron-level cause for battle. Nor was the assumption that Phoenix was gonna blow everything up any more warranted. Haven't they ever heard of Rachel Grey? Hell, Jean Grey has been around a few times and she never blew up the damned planet. Why are they saying it's inevitable when on SEVERAL occasions it never even came close to happening?
@BlindLemonShemp --- damn, man. That would be one hell of a story twist. Might be pretty good.

Who would've thought Wolverine would wind up the more level headed one. At least he still believes Professor X is right. The majority of the mutant population is wiped out by one of their own and Cyclops thinks humanity is the biggest threat? No wonder Logan wanted to beat his ass in Schism.

Wolverine? Level headed?
You mean the guy who was mad at Cyclops for telling the one girl to defend herself using deadly force? The same guy who has killed people at the drop of a dime.... the same guy who took Shadowcat and Armor and Jubilee under his arm --- and taught them how to be killers?
Of do you mean Wolverine --- the guy who forgot that the X-men were 15 and 16 going up against Magneto and other life-threatening situations.... yet somehow thinks that kids should be left out of the struggle cuz they "aren't ready."
Or could it be Wolverine, who went against everyone from Cyclops to Captain America because he was soooo hell-bent on killing Hope --- getting into fights with everyone just so he could kill Hope..... only to COMPLETELY change his mind right when she offered him a few warm beers.
That Wolverine?

everyone has a logical side here. and wolverine has changed. cyclops took those same kids into fights. cap took a kid into war. i think theyre trying to turn one of the xmen into a villain. cyclops is too obvious though i think its going to be someone else. maybe colossus he has too much going on right now with the juggernaut demon and now the phoenix

The event sucks.
However, since I loathe Cyclops and most of his team members, I support The Avengers anytime.
And what kinda stupid idea is it that Colossus gets Juggernaut's powers first and now the Phoenix's?! I liked that character but not anymore.

I was with X-Men simply because they had the most experience with them.
But having read the way Cyclops has been portrayed, gotta say The Avengers seem to be the heroes of the piece.
@ Daken - I know, Colossus is awesome and they've turned him into some freak. Juggaolusnix. Fail.

I have to agree with EVERYTHING you said. Like words coming out of my own damn fingers had i had 1/4 the energy you apparently have, lol.
Go Team X-Men.
When in an overwhelmingly outnumbered, hopeless situation, and still want to win like a Boss, just think to yourself: What Would Scott Summers Do?

Wow, I can't believe that so many people are on the x-men's side?! I understand that they have been persecuted and confined to utopia... and had their numbers bottomed out to a whopping 200 but they should have learned from what happened to Jean Grey... Further more the phoenix has destroyed countless worlds on its way to earth so that would be like taking blood money, the price is too high and I believe that if it was the MUTANT RACE and earth that was wiped out while the phoenix was on it's way to another world to find a host and bring that world up to another level of harmony(and by some stroke of luck scott summers colossus and namor were off world when it happened)they would want to destroy it even if it's intentions are pure for the world it lets live.
So lets say that the avengers lose and the x-men succeed... I doubt that Namor, Magik and Emma Frost will give up that power very easily to hope.
Also Rachael's biggest argument is that SHE was able to control the phoenix force longer than anyone, I believe that is not a valid argument because she was only channeling the power from afar. In this story the phoenix is coming to earth to emerge with Hope Summers completely.
Last of all, I believe that a big theme in these comics is free will... no one person should be able to shape the world... or say no more Avengers. Who are the X-men to throw the avengers in jail for fighting for their freedom? Even if they are doing this for the greater good good (and I dont think Namor and Magik are... they are both cruel and a little evil) they could have gone about it differently. Dont get me wrong, so could the avengers but the president himself put steve rogers in charge to protect america anyway he sees fit... who are the x-men to undermine his authority? they should have packed up and moved another country or something.

P.S.
I like the x-men and I believe that scott summers WANTS to do the right thing and might even do so given the chance but the rest of the 5 are corrupted... this is going to go bad real quick.
Look what happened to Jean!!! Namor already had moral issues and Magik is a little evil so they are going to end up going evil
