are you serious?
people are out there at wont even make their own decisions without being told what to think first?
sheesh
CrimsonReign - 7/18/2012, 4:44 PM
I do not think this poll or the results reflect the true number of sheeple out there who let all mainstream opinion completely dictate their personal viewpoint.
Jnichols326 - 7/18/2012, 4:44 PM
all that matters is your own opinion, also, if people get that mad at a negative review, that they have to threaten death to someone, those people need to realize, that not everybody is going to like a movie, and they need to get out more
DatScarletPimPerNeLL - 7/18/2012, 4:46 PM
Clearly something is wrong with their medulla oblongatas.
Kennyhtownsauceda - 7/18/2012, 4:47 PM
If it is a comic book movie and I want to see it I don't give a rat's ass. I take their opinions when I'm having trouble deciding which movie to buy.
MrsTonyStark0507 - 7/18/2012, 5:03 PM
I only check reviews for certain types of movies (usually rated R and comedy) and the only reviewer I read is the one on pluggedin.com. Other than that, my opinion almost never lines up with the critics, so I don't care what they think.
SFCamerica - 7/18/2012, 5:06 PM
A really low RT score like 30% will keep me out of theaters. Honestly, I tend to agree with Ror's reviews, seem to have similar tastes except he's a liberal ;)
Edmundo - 7/18/2012, 5:08 PM
I do not have an unlimited budget so if a movie is being panned by a vast majority of critics then I do not go see it an wait for Blu-ray. However if I am a fan of that character I still might drag myself to the theater.
Nemeres - 7/18/2012, 5:17 PM
I'd be lying if I said they don't matter AT ALL... like if you're really excited about something and then you see it's got 20% on Rotten Tomatoes, your excitement's gonna dwindle a little bit. But enjoyment of stuff is almost involuntary, so it all comes down to whether you had fun with it or not.
Godzillafart - 7/18/2012, 5:19 PM
RT is great because by averaging a ton of critics you get a better sense of a movie's quality....BUT you always have to decide for yourself whether a movie is good. It's more useful if you are deciding between two films to drop your movie dollar on.
Godzillafart - 7/18/2012, 5:19 PM
Plus, I love reading reviews of movies I have already seen!
IIIAdamantiumIII - 7/18/2012, 5:24 PM
[frick]ing sheeple
FilmsFan - 7/18/2012, 5:45 PM
All those assholes threatening someone just cuz he/she didn't like the Film ur anticipating is atrocious!
It's JUST a FILM.

& BTW; Critics need to be careful as well!
Not in expressing opinion, thats a No-Brainer BUT in teasing fans. Just like that one Idiot Top-Critic did!
U can't joke about a film like TDKR on RT & say u hate it & then inform on ur own website that u haven't even seen the film yet & are just teasing or whatever doing with fans!
Thats STUPID!
Fans get pissed at this kinda shit!!
Don't be an Idiot, just review a film or shut up!
STOP POKING on FANS!
It's NOT funny!

& Fans need to stop that Threatening shit; disagree all u can & let that reviewer know that u strongly disagree with him/her BUT Why on earth would someone threaten someone for a film review! That's crazy than that!!

My opinions are mine and theirs are theirs. I have enjoyed some movies that were panned by critics and hated some that were loved by them. John Carter was enjoyable and my family and I loved it. Fight Club was terrible to me. Again, my opinion. Even in my own household we have a different opinion. My youngest daughter hates Thor (I have tried to straighten her out, she is 15) but loves those damn "Twilight" movies. It is opinions of others, we live in a free nation (so far anyway) and are free to have our own thoughts and opinions. We don't need to send threats to critics. They are just misunderstood creatures.
StarkAnthony - 7/18/2012, 6:23 PM
Any comments on a review should be to discuss the film, not to tell the reviewer your own opinion on the film. You don't need to tell them they're right or wrong. Their reviews are their reviews and their opinions. If you really feel the need for everyone to know how you felt about a movie then go write your own review. And you should never threaten someone or demean them for their opinion. Sometimes people are just obnoxious
miniHULK - 7/18/2012, 6:32 PM
It shouldnt matter what the critics think every person has their own opinion if not they would probably be a fight in every house before people can get their morning coffee, a little over the top, but you get my point? just like theiris an option on this poll every can or should be able to think for themselves
Ship - 7/18/2012, 6:56 PM
I don't care shit about people next door opinion of any movie, most of the time they know shit about it.
Lazarus - 7/18/2012, 7:07 PM
Critics say "DRIVE" was an amazing movie.. so basically I think they're all full of shit lol
Swarley - 7/18/2012, 7:34 PM
Drive was amazing.
Giraffehead - 7/18/2012, 8:40 PM
I know you are all trying to show how independently minded you are, but if you actually read the answers you would see that opinions were not at stake.

I am interested in movies for a few reasons. I know what I like and I can judge a movie THROUGH critics pretty accurately.

I don't just go throwing money around at every good trailer. Trailers are trying to lie to you, critics, generally, are not. I trust critics.

Once I see a movie THEN I form an opinion. It is not given to me.
Netman0007 - 7/18/2012, 9:11 PM
ROGER EBERT. One stop. Done.
TheAbomination - 7/18/2012, 9:24 PM
I could give a horse's ass what critics think about a film, especially Rotten Tomato critics. I see a film and formulate my own opinion on that film. Anybody who actually watches or doesn't watch a film based on what a critic says is [frick]ing stupid.
Giraffehead - 7/18/2012, 11:31 PM
@TheAbomination,

Such strong words, but if it is not critics that you listen to, where is it that you get your information BEFORE you see a movie?

The actors? Directors? Trailers? Your friends? I would like to hear your unbiased information gathering tools.
AmahlFarouk - 7/19/2012, 1:39 AM
I like to read if critics liked a film because I agree with them most of the time. Their actual ratings don't affect whether I like a film, but they help me in choosing to watch the right films.

I've seen over 1,000 films in my life and enjoyed the majority of them; I have the critics to thank for that.

P.S. @CrimsonReign, Listening to critics doesn't make people like me "sheeple". Now if I avoided reading reviews because that's the "cool" thing to do...
musashi - 7/19/2012, 2:54 AM
I can't afford to see every movie in the theatre so I use RT as a guide. If its over 50% I might give it a chance depending on my interest, but under 40% and I'll probably wait for DVD or miss it.
inky - 7/19/2012, 3:40 AM
most critics are popinjays and failed film makers/actors.
many are on the take from studios and will give dog pooh a good review if paid enough.
in saying that there are honest reviewers around and they get treated badly by others becouse they refuse to tow the line.
recent examples proove the bought out theroy and lack of honest reviewers there are.
reviwers in many cases are like polititions and dypers, need changing often and for the same reasons.
thingrock4 - 7/19/2012, 3:42 AM
[frick] the film critics they don't know shit
sirbonesalot - 7/19/2012, 3:43 AM
critics are assholes......... a lot of my favorite movies got panned and they still kick ass
usclerkguy - 7/19/2012, 4:26 AM
I like reviews... and i like to compare how i saw the film compared to other reviews by critics....plus if a movie is getting totally crappy reviews....i'll save my money and wait for Red Box.
CoulsonLives - 7/19/2012, 4:30 AM
LOL Whenever I answer a Poll it's always the most number of votes... Brothers XD
RedMosquito - 7/19/2012, 7:18 AM
I flatly refuse to state opinion on a movie until i have first googled what my opinion actually is.

(joking, of course)
deadpoolbeatsall - 7/19/2012, 4:52 PM
Depends on the reviewer
