What flashback happened last season? Blanked that completely

Tourney at Harrenhal, please and thank you.

That would give us the opportunity to meet just about every big name from the past:
Lyanna, Rhaegar, The Mad King, Howland, Brandon, Kingsguard legends, etc.

Also, give me the Knight of the Laughing tree or get outta my face.

@Cap1 the first episode had Cersei's flashback to the prophecy about her becoming queen, kids dying, and yadda yadda.

A whole lot of shit going down at work at the moment with staff backstabbing and jostling for position. Every time someone comes up with more gossip, I just start humming the theme song to this show and shake my head. It gets me through.

Interesting. Maybe we'll get a look at how the the war started against the Mad King. This could be the flashback that gives away Jon Snow's family heritage.

Not sure why Bran's story was left out last season. It could have shared time with the failed Dorne storyline.

I was really hoping for a tower of joy flashback but a 12 year old Ned is too young for that.

Flashbacks are going to be a regular thing in GoT now? Ugh, give it back to Marvel!

if they are actually doing the Tourney at Harrenhal, it'll be interesting to see how Rhaegar and Lyanna look and act together.
Side note: Am I the only one who would love it if they cast Cillian Murphy as Rhaegar?

@BlackHulk

The writers said watching Bran train wouldn't be exciting. He'll be a full fledged warg when we see him again. And now the Dorne storyline can move along, with Prince Doran trying to marry off his son to Dany. Ya know, since his fiancée died and her husband died.

Have they had flashbacks of Lyanna in the show? Can't recall. If they cast Lyanna then we know sh*t just got real....

@YokieWartooth

They'll cast someone younger. Rhaegar will only be in Flashbacks so he'll be what, 16? 17?

@Ghostpointzero

I agree. I am a big fan of flash backs if done moderately and in connection to the current story.

I think GoT is one show that need flash backs. Especially for the non-book readers that aren't too familiar with the history of Westeros. Would love to see more Flash backs of the Children of the Forest and the First Men, perhaps as part of Bran's story. It has a big significance as to what is happening in Westeros now.

Yes, the whole Lyanna/Rhaegar story needs to be shown. This most likely mean that they'll reveal or debunk the R+L=J story. As a book reader I hope Winds of Winter releases before Season 6.

HBO is now saying they would like ten seasons and are open to prequel options. This casting and the likelihood of more flashbacks got me thinking about what prequel ideas I would like to see.

1.) Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters arrive in Westeros to establish the Targaryen dynasty.

2.) The Dance of Dragons - if you haven't read GRRM's "The Princess and the Queen" short story included in his Dangerous Women anthology you are missing out. What an amazing story of civil war that sees Westeros divided over who should rule after the king dies. The Targaryens never fully recovered and it was essentially the end of dragons until current storylines.

3.) Robert's Rebellion - yes, this is the obvious one and we certainly know enough to fill in many of the blanks regarding this story. It would also represent the closest connection to material that the viewers already are familiar with.

I know a lot of people will say Dunk and Egg is the obvious choice but I just don't feel it is significant enough. Give me the big events that shaped the world we have come to know and love.

The show hasn't once mentioned that Jon can warg despite it coming up numerous times in the books. Perhaps the show runners thought it would be way too obvious or something.

Also, The Tower of Joy is priority #1 of what I want to see in season 6 and that would be a great way to announce R+L=J.

A little young for a flashback from the Three Rivers (or whatever it was called)
Lazarusreborn

I just don't know what would be important moving forward with a flashback of Ned as a 12 year old...I don't recall anything that would impact the future storylines when he was that young. I mean, he was 15 years younger from when the show began when his father and brother were killed by the Mad Titan...er King. He was 15 years younger from when the show began when the Tower of Joy happened....hmmmm Maybe it was the first time he said "Winter is coming"....? That must be it!
Lazarusreborn
Lazarusreborn - 8/11/2015, 5:25 PM
What they should do, is what Spartacus did and shoehorn a "flashback season" starting with the Tourney at Harrenhal all the way up to Roberts Rebellion for the entire season 7 or even 8 aswell and then start up season 9 with the current storyline so RR can catch up....that was a long sentence

Could be a montage of Ned aging. They could also cast a 19 and 26 y/o actors to play the full history of Ned .
