Dolphin Films announced today that they have cast Ben Winchell as Max McGrath/Max Steel and Ana Villafane as his love interest, Sydney Gardner, in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Max Steel.

Thor: The Dark World writer, Christopher Yost has signed on to write and Stewart Handler will be taking on directing duties. The film is slated for a wide theatrical release in 2015 and is currently being presented to buyers in Berlin as the first in a planned series of Max Steel films. Open Road Films has signed a multi-year, multi-picture deal with Dolphin Films to distribute.

With this film, Mattel hopes to establish themselves in the film industry, just like their competitor Hasbro has done with their highly successful Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises.

The high-octane story centers on teenager Max McGrath and his alien companion Steel, who combine special turbo-energy powers to become the superhero Max Steel™. The film provides audiences with the first new superhero in decades, bringing a positive and relatable hero to audiences of all ages, while combining action and adventure with teamwork, laughter and friendship.

The “Max Steel” film is positioned to capitalize on the global momentum around the Max Steel franchise. In Latin America, Max Steel has been a number one action figure* brand for more than 10 years and has generated year-over-year revenue growth in toys and consumer products. Mattel re-introduced the Max Steel franchise to the rest of the world at the 2013 Nuremberg Toy Fair to much fanfare, and has subsequently launched the brand in more than 150 countries with branded entertainment, toys, games and publishing. In a short time, the Max Steel brand has gained widespread appeal around the world, including influential markets such as the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Australia.

I hope it is the pre-reboot Max Steel, it was kinda fun. The new one is really generic and boring

@ManofSteel22, Jackie Chan Adventures was my show as well.

They should've done this 10 years ago or so. They could've had James Avery in it.
CaptainObvious - 2/6/2014, 3:42 PM
Never heard of it.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 2/6/2014, 3:44 PM
Isn't Max Steel a pornstar?

So it isn't based on the CGI-animated series PsychoManiacJacky posted a link to?

*Throws paper in the air*

I'm out. Have no interest.

Hopefully the local crack head will have it on bootleg

I heard of the new recent series on a cartoon streaming site and watched a couple of episodes.
it was alright but it didn't get me hooked on it. (or maybe i was watching too many other shows at the time)

and i have never heard of the old series though,, and i used to watch quite alot of tv on saturday mornings and after school (man i miss those shows back then, so much better than the crap out now)

This will be a future flop! If Mattel wants to make a movie out of a toy brand they own why not just do a Barbie movie...wait, never mind.
Ineedrevelation - 2/6/2014, 4:53 PM
who the hell is max steel?
biggcess - 2/6/2014, 5:03 PM
I think it's gonna be based on the new series they just came out with maybe a a year or two ago.

My kids love it.

Here's a live action trailer for the show:

Sorry, don't know how to embed.

Here's the opening for the new series.

If done right, this might be a very cool movie.
MightyZeus - 2/6/2014, 5:09 PM
I watched this with my nephew one day and i found out that it rips off "Iron Man" except for the fact that the protagonist is a teenager.

Anyway, the cartoon was boring i dont know what kid or person would subject themselves to watching Max Steel.
LegacyOfHush - 2/6/2014, 5:39 PM
The early 2000 show was better.
DarkSuperman - 2/6/2014, 5:43 PM
The 2000 version of max steel was one of the sickest cartoons ever. It was basically a 21st century version of the Six Million Dollar man combined with xXx , only minus Vin Diesel. That's the movie they should make. not this overly cartoony iron man crap their shoving down kids throats these days.
Azrael725 - 2/6/2014, 6:13 PM
I loved the original Max Steel when i was younger. i had multiple action figures. i saw that they came out with a new one just a little bit ago and i watched a clip on youtube and it is utter crap. I hate cartoons nowadays. When i have kids someday they are going to grow up and the great stuff that i grew up with.
astromerc - 2/6/2014, 6:33 PM
Wasn't this a show for 5 year olds?
Shamo - 2/6/2014, 6:47 PM
The [frick]? That's not the synopsis for Max Steel. Wasn't he a cyborg and extreme sportsman or some shit?
Shamo - 2/6/2014, 6:48 PM
Nevamind, read the comments. So they rebooted Max Steel and made him more childish?
Kyos - 2/6/2014, 6:59 PM
Never heard of this. I'll check out the trailer when we get one, but I can't say I'm especially interested in this movie so far. Well, not at all, tbh.
supermarioworldE - 2/6/2014, 7:15 PM
It was lame 15 years ago, it's lame now.
Holmes - 2/6/2014, 9:05 PM
people liked this?
NorseGod - 2/6/2014, 10:53 PM
Wow, I had no idea Max Steel was still around.
NorseGod - 2/6/2014, 10:55 PM
As far as kid's cartoons today, Adventure Time is the only thing worth watching.
GetsugaTensho22 - 2/6/2014, 11:45 PM
Max Steel is awesome! It's a reboot of an old cartoon that was basically the UK's version of the Six Million Dollar Man (hence the name Steel, a pun on his cyborg parts).
The new reboot is about a teenager named Max McGrath who due to a big ongoing conspiracy/mystery surrounding his father, generates "Turbo Energy" and when he fuses with this alien symbiote named Steel, he can create this hi-tech power suit type things around himself. Like, Turbo Strength, Turbo Flight etc.
It captures the best of what Ben 10 used to be before it got super dark and edgy.

If you don't know what that is, you can just google it, instead of acting like confused deers in headlights.
GetsugaTensho22 - 2/6/2014, 11:46 PM
[frick] Adventure Time. That shit should not be shown to children. It's like a [frick]ed up Acid Trip, it's completely ridiculuous. Regular Show is also weird, but that seems more like a YouTube animated mini series instead of a cartoon on freaking Cartoon Network. No wonder American kids are all kinds of messed up.
GetsugaTensho22 - 2/6/2014, 11:49 PM
Finally, this is the embed. It's a live-action promo unrelated to this film, but it still serves to show just cool the show is.
