We asked our readers how they thought Spider-Man got his powers. You answered by email, text, blog, and even a brick through the window (please refrain from that in the future). Here’s what you had to say:

Lashawn F., Soho

"Spider-Guy’s probably suffering from some diseases, I bet, like Arachno Syndrome, or Tarantulitis (my little brother came up with those, he’s mad funny)! He climbs walls, he shoots webs, and he eats bugs. He can never show his face cause he’s probably got fly-eyes or something. You know, you all should leave the poor guy alone! He’s not an insect; he’s a man. Or both, he’s a mansect! (I came up with that one!!!!)"

Is Spider-Man an alien from another planet? Are his webs natural or supernatural? Your thoughts, your words, your paper! Submit here! Contributors who are chosen for print get a $20 Gift Card to Sal and Angelo’s Pizzeria in Mott Haven. Please limit submissions to less than 150 words.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 features:
Director: Marc Webb
Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn
Sally Field as May Parker
Campbell Scott as Richard Parker
Embeth Davidtz as Mary Parker
Colm Feore as Donald Menken
Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino
Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn
Marton Csokas as Dr.Kafka
B.J. Novak as Alistair Smythe
Martin Sheen as Ben Parker
Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson
Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy
Felicity Jones in an unspecified role

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2, 2014.

This was painful to read. Honestly there going overboard with this marketing bullshit.
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 8:45 PM
lol. Lashawn is awesome!

on a side note, there was a kick-ass amount of good news today
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 8:47 PM
i'd rather put it; the haters go overboard with their bullshit, but, whatever
CaptainObvious - 3/11/2014, 8:47 PM
Lashawn F. sounds like a moron.
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 8:53 PM
lashawn sounds like a more enjoyable person than the spider-haters
KidGoku - 3/11/2014, 8:56 PM
Ashes2Phoenix - 3/11/2014, 8:58 PM

Unfortunately not everyone can be pleased. From everything I am hearing I think the hater train will be brought down to select few once the film is released !
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 9:05 PM
@Ashes2Phoenix - i think it's gonna be incredible. love the raimi films, but this looks like the best spidey action on an epic scale and marc webb is great with the humanity parts. yeah, haters can hate. it's all noise that doesn't amount to much. i really like debating with people that provide valid, good points, but sadly that has hardly ever happened
CaptainObvious - 3/11/2014, 9:07 PM
@Jollem- And you sound like you took my comment too seriously.
MercwithMouth - 3/11/2014, 9:10 PM
That was pretty funny.
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 9:15 PM
@CaptainO - negative, good sir. you can tell that i'm being serious by my serious face -_-

the comment you are referring to...i very much meant it
GliderMan - 3/11/2014, 9:20 PM
It's an offshoot of aids.
BubSnikt - 3/11/2014, 9:38 PM
Everything originates from Oscorp. Didnt they get the memo?
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 9:41 PM
@AnnoDomini - as i have stated, i'm not taking anything seriously. i'm just stating the obvious. i've listened to hundreds and hundreds of people bash and shit on these movies. i have never told anyone to shut up or "gtfo" or bitch at them. i actually debate if i feel like it. rare, i know
Platinum - 3/11/2014, 9:42 PM
The jackass was running around a high school without his mask how do people not....ahh [frick] it.
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 9:43 PM
you wanna troll, go ahead. no one ever said you couldn't troll
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 9:44 PM
because no one saw him without the mask. that would be the most obvious reason
Platinum - 3/11/2014, 9:46 PM
Oh yeah, I forgot cameras and any form of competent security doesn't exist in the TASM universe.
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 9:57 PM
i didn't say i was debating there. why don't you settle down? unbunch your panties
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 10:00 PM
dude. don't get so angry. calm yourself. you jumped on me
TucksDeluxe - 3/11/2014, 10:04 PM
I want more Eddie Brock in my Daily Bugle viral marketing
start setting up that spin-off, Sony. sinister six is not a franchise!
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 10:06 PM
i've been tired of your trolling for quite some time now. calm yourself and leave me alone. troll on these movies all you want
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 10:09 PM
wtf is wrong with you? stop trolling me, please
staypuffed - 3/11/2014, 10:11 PM
that was cringeworthy
imaginejim - 3/11/2014, 10:11 PM
Dude, AnnoDomini, you are completely in the wrong here bud. You singled out and Jollem and have been attacking him on this thread. Let it go. Comment on what you don't like or do like about the film, stop attacking other users.
imaginejim - 3/11/2014, 10:16 PM
He didn't attack anyone. I am reading all his comments and see no attacks. You might be in the wrong frame of mind which is causing you to read his comments wrong. He really was attacking no one here. You are the one attacking people. Stop it or I'll report you. I'm so tired of reading this crap in the comments. Discuss the film.
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 10:18 PM
thanks for that, jim
imaginejim - 3/11/2014, 10:22 PM
He may have done that in either articles and if so, report him for that. My point is, he didn't here. You began to attack him. You are in the wrong here. Just drop it and move on. If you really feel like he is "trolling", then report him and let the mods deal with it. I'm not going to comment on it anymore because frankly, I'm now doing exactly what I get tired of seeing in the comments. Ugh. My apologies to all.
imaginejim - 3/11/2014, 10:22 PM
*other articles
notmuchtotellreally - 3/11/2014, 10:29 PM
There's no security cameras at my high school. I tag walls all the time!..
Jollem - 3/11/2014, 10:40 PM
go spidey, go!!
JJJameson - 3/11/2014, 10:53 PM
Amazing Spider-Man 2's viral marketing is in full swing. Love it. Hopefully I'm coming up with some cool pictures for the #SpideySighting thing.
staypuffed - 3/11/2014, 11:00 PM
"TASM was a bucket of horse semen."
Jesus, that's harsh.
MightyZeus - 3/12/2014, 12:29 AM
If people dont like the marketing then why read it or why pay attention to it? It's not like it's going to stop the film from marketing.
I do agree that the marketing is going a little overboard but there are some people that do enjoy reading through the viral marketing and look forward to it.

People just need to chill out!!!
deanwilkins - 3/12/2014, 10:50 AM
Saw an incomplete version of the film - some rough special effects, missing some music, etc. This is the Spidey film we've been waiting for. Completely makes up for what was missing in the previous film and just blows the Raimi films out of the water. This is Spidey done right.
Melkaticox - 3/12/2014, 11:28 AM
I want that gift card...
VIRILEMAN - 3/12/2014, 5:10 PM
Only schools in the ghetto have cameras. None of the schools I attended growing up had any cameras.
VIRILEMAN - 3/12/2014, 5:12 PM

Yeah, I keep hearing this is the Dark Knight of Spider-Man. Hopefully the third film won't be the Dark Knight Rises of Spider-Man.
hulkrash - 3/13/2014, 5:13 AM
Bucket of horse semen...? Wow.

There are some special kinds of stupid on this site.
