I want the solo Thor movie to be pretty much all Classic costume. The Ultimate look wouldn't fit with Asgard.

In the Avengers however, they should make the costume more Ultimate, to update it with the modern setting of the Avengers. But there should still be some of the Classic costume in there.

LEEE777, your avatar is cool (I am one of the 7 people in the world that owns the live action Tick series on DVD) but how can you deny the awesome of Ultimates Thor? Remember that things on the page can look waaay corny and cheesy when applied to real life. I ain't hating on classic Thor, hell I'd even take a helmet with wings scrolled into it on the sides, but big protruding wings??? I don't want Thor to look silly on the big screen.

i remember reading somewhere that Branagh was looking at the Walt Simonson style for inpspiration for the movie, so that rules out the Ultimates look and rules in wings. WOOT!

i already proved how it is fake. The shoulder pads are deformed helmets from the lego knights series, and the helmet is a demorphed eagle, u can see the eyes and beak an everything

it was done in photoshop using a million bits and pieces found online. i think the final file is 2gb and has about 120 layers to it. LOL everything you see is a different piece... his arm, his hand, the hammer, helmet, cape, body, clouds, crows, castle, mountain, lightning...etc....

i was trying to get inside Branagh's head and figure out how he would probably do the film and although i didnt go for a straight interpretation of Thor, I kept some of the trademarks... winged helm, red cape, and the hammer of course. thought Branagh may do it somewhat like Lord of the Rings style or something along those lines.

its fake, no question. that hammer he's holding is the replica hammer that you can buy. in fact, its the same exact picture they used, look at the break in the wrap, right above his thumb. if you can find the advertisement for the replica mjolnir, you can see that its the same exact pic they used.

I wasn't going to say anything , but that guy in the poster has the arms of a teenage girl, what the f**k? Thor has always been drawn huge I mean he is the second strongest character in the Marvel universe behind Hulk right? I said it before and I'm saying it now Hemsworth needs to gain some massive size for this role, or they need to cgi him a new body to look like Thor. Hugh Jackman bulked up for Wolverine, but this is Thor. He has to make Jackman look very small to get his right. Marvel has one shot at Thor, there won't be any second chances or reboots with this one, make it count.

I agree with assasin666. Thor is supposed to be huge.

That doesn't mean I don't like Hemsworth. I do. He's tall, he has blonde hair, and a great voice. But in terms of sheer bulk Thor is supposed to look hugely built.
I am a bodybuilder. To me Hemsworth just looks fit. Like someone who exercises every day.

So to me, unless they find some way of dealing with the size issue it just won't look right, and if they are going the laytex and CGI free route, then Hemsworth will have to bulk up a LOT more than in the pic above to even make it somewhat believeable.

Remember this is a movie about a guy that can lift over 100 tons. That's 200,000 lbs. And he's not like Superman at all, the guy looks physically able to do that.

I hate how cus in the comics everyone is unrealisticly huge we have to have the same in the movies argument!! God dam people watching a bunch of wrestlers on screen looks dumb, id rather have Hemsworth who looks the right build to be Thor imo then sit through Suburban Commando again..lol :P

I hear you TB. Comic artists draw men ripped that way because they see it as being more aestheitcally pleasing, and interesting to look at. It's so true that it's cheesy and unrealistic.

But when it comes to the movies IMO there are some that needs to be big and some that doesn't.

Punisher, Wolverine, Daredevil and Captain America don't have to be huge.
But dudes like Thor and Juggernaut and Hulk should be because of their powers. That's the way I see it.

Darth@ id rather see a guy who looks like he could be a viking than a god...someone who has fought many battles and has had to grow his strength naturaly rather then he just looks like he hit the gym.....Hulk and Juggernaut are described as larger than life charaters....Thor is always alot smaller than Hulk and like with superman i think it looks more super to see a guy lift a truck then see a guy who looks like he could :)

Just don't forget though that Thor IS a god, and not just a Viking.
In terms of physical strength Thor is supposed to be in the same strength class as Hulk and Juggernaut, which is why in this one case certain fan's desire for a bulky actor is understandable.

In the Avengers movie, out of the entire team Thor is the one guy with the power to meet Hulk on equal terms. We all are expecting Hulk to at least start out in battle with the Avengers, and then team up with them when they find some way of cooling him off and reasoning with him or whatever.

Try to imagine how lame it would look if we were expected to believe that someone who is built like an NBA player is able to contend on a physical level with Hulk. I think comic book fans and casual viewers alike would be thinking "yeah right"

Darth@ but thats what makes it super....he's a god he doesnt have to be Hulk Hogan, he just has the power............if you saw to giant guys punching each other in the street it would be great then imagine if a smaller guy came up and kicked the shit out of both of them...thats more entertaining....Thor is not drawn any bigger than most characters but what makes them special is this great strengh which is superhuman in a human form :P
