Who does not like The Lord of the Rings? Not many people can answer that question with a I don't. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the best trilogy since the first Star Wars trilogy back in the late 70's early 80's. Which means us fans seem to be treated to an awesome trilogy of this epic scale once every generation. Hey Hollywood, keep em coming!

Many thanks goes to Warner Home Video for providing us with The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Blu-ray Release!

I'm holding out for the Extended Editions to be on Blu-Ray. No sense in me getting this and then getting rid of it in a year when the Extended cuts come out.

As far as a straight trilogy goes, I have to agree. LOTR is better than the original Star Wars trilogy. Again, just my opinion, but Return of the Jedi left me just flat enough to allow LOTR to eek by it. Special effects not withstanding, I feel the direction, acting, cinematic and script driven plots flow better, and there's a greater level of believability in the Rings trilogy (Ents aside). They are both epic sets of film in their given genres, but I simply have to give it to Rings. I can watch that over and over and find something new each time.

Considering I am one of the only people on the planet who isn't a big Star Wars fan, it is LOTR all the way for me!

hhaha, jman, that is one sweet Smeagol impression! Goodo stuff boys, without a doubt the greatest trilogy in movie history. I love the original Star Wars, but like gtrman, Jedi lets it down for me.

dudes, I was Star Wars fan before I even know what Lord Of The Rings or even who Tolkein was, I had all the toys(origanl 77-84 even a couple "revenge" ones) but I'm sorry LOTR wins hands down. from the first time I saw The Hobbit animated movie when I was 6 I was hooked. I read all the books when I was around 10 and waited the entire 7 years it took to get Jacksons master peice off the ground(and it was well worth the wait). don't get me wrong George Lucus is the man and Star Wars is a peice of american history, but lets face it LOTR is just flat out a better story, better made movies, better characters and character development, it just all around a better trillogy. I think the thing that really cliches it as far as the trillogy debat is the FACT that Tolkein wrote the novel as one book that was just too dam big at the time to print in one volume. yeah Luces SAYS he had it all writen down but we ALL know thats bulls*%t, there are just too many plot holes, and thats not even counting the prequals.

lord of the rings looks amazing on blu-ray,but it should of had the extented editions on it as well.
what is this how they gonna release the rest of the films.
1st lord of the rings (2 disc editions)
2nd lord of the rings (4 disc editions)
3rd the hobbit part 1 (2 disc edition)
4th the hobbit part 1 (4 disc edition)
5th the hobbit part 2 (2 disc edition)
6th the hobbit part 2 (4 disc edition)
7th the hobbit 1&2 + the lord of the rings trilogy box set (20 disc edition)
at least they put out extra features on these disc not like that f***ing con avatar.

& the best trilogy ever is
1.lord of the rings
2.the original star wars trilogy
3.the godfather trilogy
4.the matrix trilogy
they may all be beaten when either toy story 3 or batman 3 come out.
