Johnny and I were invited to an Alex Ross signing from BuyMeToys.com were Alex was completing his last signing of the year! If that wasn't cool enough Alex signed whatever we fans had for him to sign for free! Yes I said it, FREE! Below are a few pics detailing our adventure.

When we first walked into BuyMeToys.com we were greeted with this beautiful life size bust of the Green Goblin, modeled off of Alex Ross's work!

While waiting for Alex I met a slew of Comic Book Movie fans, we had some time to talk about our favorite movies and also compare what we had for Alex to sign.

Yes, off course I told these ultra cool peeps to check out ComicBookMovie.com Son! You have got to REPRESENT!!

There were plenty examples of Alex's work on display at BuyMeToys.com. Below is a cover that Alex created for the owner of BuyMeToys.com Casey Heying's own Oz/Wonderland Chronicles.

How cool is that to have an Artist Legend do cover art for a personal project of your own? Damn cool, that's how cool! Casey Heying is off course the artist with his bud Ben Avery writing the project on a quarterly basis.

And finally the moment we had all been waiting for! Alex signed a few different things for my son Lil B, Johnny Love and myself. Alex also was cool enough to take a couple group pictures Exclusively for ComicBookMovie.com!

From left to Right: Johnny Love, Ben Avery, Casey Heying, Alex Ross (Sitting), J-Man, and Lil B!

Below are a few different pics of the cool stuff that Alex signed for us!

Not pictured was the 'Kingdom Come' graphic novel Alex signed for me. You can’t go to an Alex Ross signing and not have your copy of 'Kingdom Come' signed! That’s like taking your girlfriend out for dinner and a movie, and then later not...well ya know. That would make no sense!

The below image is a cover shot of all three of the people that worked hard to put this issue of Casey Heying and Ben Avery’s 'Oz/Wonderland Chronicles' together, cover art off course was by Alex Ross!

If you have not picked up 'Rough Justice' already then you need to stop doing whatever it is you’re doing now and go find one. Or you can click HERE to get to the BuyMeToys.com home page and see what materials Casey has left of the 'Alex Ross Signing Extravaganza' to sell!

Check it out ComicBookMovie fans, this is a must have for any hard core Comic Book fan. Alex is opening up his sketchbook to give fans a look at his work that has never been seen before! Below is just a taste of what you can expect from 'Rough Justice'!

"Alex Ross opens his private sketchbooks to reveal his astonishing pencil and ink drawings of DC Comics characters, nearly all of them appearing in print here for the first time.

Thousands of fans from around the world have thrilled to Alex's fully rendered photo realistic paintings of their favorite heroes, but as they may not realize, all of those works start as pencil on paper, and the origins of the finished images are rarely seen. Until now!"

Many thanks to Pantheon Books and Chip Kidd for providing a bit of the above 'Rough Justice' forward!

This trip was a treat. Meeting Alex Ross was an event none of us will forget. The cool thing about Alex was that he was there at that signing for the fans. Alex was not nickel and diming everyone but talking to them on a personal level. Which tells me that Alex Ross is Alex Ross all the time. Alex is not a person that is consumed by his own personal success. And that my friends is something that is very rare in any industry.

Mega props go to Casey and Kelly Heying of BuyMeToys.com for inviting us and putting up with everyone's issues for the Alex Ross signing. You guys ROCK!

He's an amazing artist. He really took story art to such a unique level. Justice and Kingdom Come were really really amazing. Kingdom Come is the only comic to ever make me GASP, those who read it must know which page too
Dex1986 - 6/27/2010, 2:20 PM

Amazing artist. I Love Kingdom Come, it's an excellent Graphic Novel. Batman: war on crime, Superman: peace on earth, Wonder Woman: spirit of truth, Shazam: the power of hope, all incredible works.

@ Captain America: Thanks dude, means alot coming from you Bro!!!
Upupandaway - 6/27/2010, 3:01 PM
@SHAZAM171- Do you know who did what on that pic? That is great. Alex Ross's art is amazing and I'm glad to hear he's a pretty nice guy. I love his dedication. In the TPB for Marvels it shows how he made a Galactus helmet out of cardboard to get the lighting and everything right for a panel.

@Jman- I agree. It's very hard to say one artist is better than another with different styles. You can have personal faves but that has no bearing on their greatness. I like Alex Maleev's work on Daredevil myself. Good on ya.
superhero9 - 6/27/2010, 3:44 PM

Great stuff man. Ross is talented as hell, though sometimes I don't like when he draws characters like they're really old. I dunno, just don't like it. But most of his work is really well done.

Alex Ross is definitely one of the best artists around. Kingdom Come and Marvels sit at the top.
Cyanide - 6/28/2010, 3:06 AM
I love the style Alex Ross does. His style is truly unique...thumbs up :)
scurvydog - 6/28/2010, 4:57 AM
This may be considered sacrilege to the majority of Alex Ross fans on the board, but I'm a bigger fan of his pencilling.Don't get me wrong,I love his painting but-speaking as a wannabe comic-book artist-his pencils are money. The Rough Justice book is definitely on my shopping list for Comic-Con,and will be used as motivation for my artwork for years to come...
tpayer - 6/28/2010, 7:26 AM
My signed Superman and Battle of the Planets are the only things I'm allowed to hang outside of my den at home. Fantastic art! Truly one of the greats!
