The New Tomb Raider Movie Will Be A Prequel

Looks like we are getting an Origin Story here folks.

I'm not to sure how thrilled I am about this news, but none the less, the trades are reporting that instead of moving along with the franchise studio heads are wanting to go back and make a Lara Croft origin story.

More from Jessica over at Cinematical:

"According to Lin, casting for the role has yet to begin (now that Megan Fox is out of the running), but they are definitely looking for someone a little younger this time around. Whether the choice for a younger Croft is to capitalize on multiple flicks, or just to pander to the mall crowd, I couldn't say. But what I do know is that I think an adult Lara Croft is a much more exciting proposition than a precocious teen with a Nancy Drew complex -- and isn't it about time that we got some fully grown ladies fighting the good fight on the big screen again, anyway?

The project is still in the early stages of development, but Lin has warned fans that we might be getting a less 'active' Croft this time around, saying, "I would say it's like Terminator - character-driven action. I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character." Now I might have only played a few of the Raider games, but seriously? When were those things about characters?"

Well guys, what do you think? Who could fill the boots of Indiana Jones and Illinois Smith's love child?

Allison Carol (Gossip Girl) is rumored to be in the running.

I agree with Grif, I am tired of these movies. How about make a movie about a different video game, yes it can happen, I know weird right?

I mean there are so many other ganes deserving of a movie:

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Metroid
Killer Instinct
Halo
Fallout 3(You know it would be kick ass)
Castlevania
Mario(give another shot)
Star Fox

Hell, even Frogger and Donkey Kong

But no, now we're going to get a preteen 90210 origin movie.

No one whats another Remake/Reboot?? Why not just carry on??? Can get a different actress playing her easy!!

Personally I'd want Viggo Mortensen for the role of Kratos... But Yes there are so many better video game stories;
Legacy of Kain, pretty much any blizzard game, Castlevania(not gonna happen :( ) just to name a few.

But we need a Zelda game. John Woo has tried to get one started a half dozen times, but the studio won't back him.

i dont care either way to be honest-however if they follow the storyline of Tomb Raider: Legend and last years Tomb Raider: Underworld that could be a pretty good movie.

Ive never seen Allison Carroll act but i saw some of the promo stuff for TR:U and she seems ok-plus she is smokin hot...

The tomb raider frachise died a log time ago. no remake!just leave it alone. freaking zelda needs to be in the big screen. If prince of persia is being made into a film why isnt anybody pickin the zelda franchise? There making films of new video games.

Ok she's hot, we all agree, but damn I could care less about another Tomb Raider movie, they were horrible and far from entertaining. Just let it die, and move on.

Like I've seen in the posts, Zelda has been undercut, it's in definite need for a movie, and personally, I'd like it to be animated, sort of like the way Gatchaman is being produced.

If they want a female hero, Metroid would be amazing.

Fallout the movie... Okay its called The book of Eli, with Denzel Washington, and Gary Oldman. I was going to make an Article for it, but its not a comic book movie so this will have to do, I think it looks okay.

I always wanted a Zelda film in live action and evrybody speaking a language we dont understand with english subtitles(since link doesnt talk).

And how bout Mega-Man,they could have it like Astro-Boy in cgi.But the original story not that starforce or network crap

HARRIET THE SPY WOULD BE AWESOME ever since i was a kid and watched her show i wanted to marry her i havent given up hope im like 2 yrs younger than her haha. But in all seriousness no tomb raider thats lame. DEVIL MAY CRY BUT WITH BETTER DIALOGUE. WOULD BE AWESOME. God of war would be too. The voice actor for krados is black and im not saying just because im black i wanna see a black krados. But come on. That would be awesome He'd be covered with the ashes of his wife and kid the whole movie anyway.

Race isn't that important with Kratos, its size and voice. He needs to look and sound intimidating. I don't know who voices hoim, but if the guy lloks tough then by all means.

O I know race isnt important frankly i dont care Krados could be David Hasselhoff as long as hes played correctly. The voice actor for kratos is Jaliel White or w.e his name is i believer the guy from spawn, and Gambol from The Dark Knight. And i said it all in a kinda joking way not trying to get some strenuous debate about race we cann just get along.
