USER EDITORIAL: Things I've Found Similar About The Lizard's Look In The New Spider-Man Film And The Comics

since the new Spidey trailer swung its way onto desktops I've heard moderate displeasure with his look. Through research and basic Spidey knowledge I've found that the Lizard closely resembles the ditko and modern look a lot more than some give credit for.

now some of the similarities are obvious but I found others that I thought were...well pretty cool.

1. The the lizards look- yes he looks like a Goomba and no lab coat which just stinks but lets take a look at his face during his alleged "first phase"

Now he has NO SNOUT at all (which I'm sure changes through the course of the film)

Now lets look at the Ditko Lizard-

see the resemblance? now to those who do not know this is from the Lizards first appearance. Now thats not even counting the fact that they are falling down a sewer just like it was shown in the trailer here

Faithfull huh?

Ok now in conclusion I'd like to display the Lizard's final phase and how it matches up to his modern look.

First I'll show you that low res pic we got at comic-con-

And now the comic look-

Well there you have it. These are MY ideas as to why he looks the way he looks so if anyone has any other theories I'm eager to hear. Hope you enjoyed the article!

didn't someone say that the pic showed at comic con isn't actual the lizard but some other guy that dr connors tested his formula on?
Marvelfreek94 - 2/8/2012, 5:22 PM
@ironbat95 im not 100% on that. I remember from the trailer that the lizard or A lizard came out of a stall which could constitute that pic. These are all assumptions so the truth will be revealed opening day

I think the second picture is a lizard becoming humanized as opposed to dr connors becoming lizardized

the lizard does not look like the goombas from the mario bros. movie. i'll go with "resembles". give ya that. inasmuch as resembling a great many lizard, reptile, mutant, whatever creatures i have seen in various medias. the joker in the dark knight film did not look like exactly like any joker i've ever seen in a comic before and the people ate him up(i loved the idea of the scars. i think they got the idea from the Dark Knight Returns comic where Joanie's pimp said he was going to make her "smile a little wider"). batman in both films did not look exactly like any batman i've seen in a comic before, and i don't remember anyone really viscerally lashing out on the changes to his suit. i mean, say the lizard did have a torn up white coat on his naked body,(and really, people are going to be uncomfortable with a naked animal? all animals are naked people)would there then be people parroting, "this is b.s., he's not wearing the purple lab coat from the cover"? the original batman had purple gloves as part of his suit and when the first tim burton batman film came out, not nobody, my friends, critics, other comic geeks were ready to write it off and poo on it because of the changes.(this was a time before message boards. *sigh*) tony stark didn't run/fly/stumble around in kirby's original read and gold suit kirby designed and nobody said/typed nuthin pissy about that. change happens everywhere. even in comics, character designs and all. i have geeky nerdy gripes from time to time about comic book movies, but i just let them go. if you're a comics fan, can't you just be o.k. with seeing you're favorite super hero doing his or her thing on the silver screen?
