According to an employee of The Getty Museum, Marvel filmed a scene for Thor, a couple of weeks ago.

An employee at that Getty Center Museum in Los Angeles, who happens to be a blogger has posted on the boards of Collector Society that Thor filmed a scene at his job.

03/08/10 04:43 PM

they are filming "Thor" at my job (the getty center museum) today

started setting up yesterday. today, they are filming. they are using our central garden (we're closed today). can't take pictures or video of course.

Here is a pic of the Garden he was referring to.

What I'm thinking is maybe the museum will provide some possible Norse Mythology displays, where Thor & Jane go to visit. What do you guys think they could have filmed here?

thwip - 3/21/2010, 2:24 PM
naw, it LOOKS like a POKEBALL! haha.
ngu13 - 3/21/2010, 2:43 PM
na ... that is gana be a garden in sgard ... thor and odin will talk ... look at it ..then put cgi back ground in ..
Gmoney84 - 3/21/2010, 2:46 PM
I don't think it would be a Norse Myth display. Why would there be a Norse Display in New Mexico?
ngu13 - 3/21/2010, 2:49 PM
the setting is perfect for asgard... do away with the back ground cgi ... i think its gana be a asgard scene
DCMarvelFreshman - 3/21/2010, 2:51 PM
@Gmoney84 The museum isn't in New Mexico, it's in LA
sljoint - 3/21/2010, 2:52 PM
I've been there and it is seriously one of the coolest museums I've ever been to.

Perfect place for a Asgard for sure.

RedDevil - 3/21/2010, 3:02 PM
That is an amazing library!
I can see it now; Thor searching for his references of Norse Myth suddenly spotting Hercules in the books and saying, "Ahh good old friend, where is thy beer when I need it."
RorMachine - 3/21/2010, 3:02 PM
Yeah I reckon if its legit that it something Asgardian..unless all of Asgard is to be CG, usually they have a ground base for wide shots though so who knows.
Hawksblueyes - 3/21/2010, 3:07 PM
That is going to be an....Asgarden. :)
GreenHalJordan - 3/21/2010, 3:07 PM
a shot of midgaurd or possibly a gaurdin of some gods name that i cant remember in asgaurd.cool pic tho.
ngu13 - 3/21/2010, 3:07 PM
RorMachine@...that is asgard i think ... that setting ...i watched hulk vs thor ..as a refrence ..that could over look all of asgard in a scene...their is some thing about that garden that makes me think this
SandMan101 - 3/21/2010, 3:31 PM
ya its a beautiful garden i was there a few days ago its most likely a garden of asgard, i doubt there would be any norse myth displays there but who knows i could be wrong.
Ryden - 3/21/2010, 3:31 PM
It looks Asgardian to me, but it would be interesting to see Thor and Jane walking and talking in that scene. More likley it'll be Stellan Skarsgard's character and Jane talking if they are shooting it as an Earth scene. But who knows, either way it's a very beautiful location.

COME AND CHECK OUT MY HAWKEYE FAN-CAST IN FAN FIC :)

My first comment on here said that that may have something to go with Vallhalla I can see a CGI Asgard back there lol

Wow, I've had like 6 comments deleted in the last hour or so on different articles. Have I pissed one of the editors off or something? This'll probably get axed to.
THEHAWK - 3/22/2010, 12:25 AM
Wow, this thread died.
HelaGood - 3/22/2010, 9:25 AM
been there many times. the museum isnt much as far as a museum goes, but the garden is very impressive! wonder what they are using it for....
Rodimus9 - 3/22/2010, 10:21 AM
Nice find! Can't wait for this movie!!!
48and2 - 3/22/2010, 11:15 AM
Have spent alot of time there - a couple college trips.

HelaGood - I don't know how you can say that lol - I think it cost upwards of $4 billion us to build. It's HUGE - everything's imported and is the finest on earth, the stone, the plants, etc.

True they don't posess large quantities of impressionism like the East Coast MOMAs or the Louvre, but they have alot of other periods. They do have one of van Gogh's Iris's that's worth some god awful amount, as he didn't do so many of those - it is beautiful.

But the setting itself, and the architecture (which is a hybrid) posess a magical quality. It overlooks all of Hollywood, the whole valley - excellent view.

THE GARDEN - it is the garden of all gardens, and that may very well be what they were shooting.

Certainly not to be insulting or condascending, but if you haven't been there, you can't even imagine what it's like. And if you get a chance - go. It's free admission (was when I went about 8 or so years ago), but the food and everything else will cost you an arm and a leg - be warned.
HelaGood - 3/22/2010, 11:19 AM
@48and2 i just prefer the Getty Villa over this one. i always get lost (in a bad way) at this Getty. lol
