Kevin Feige Reiterates Potential Movie Adaptions After The Avengers

Marvel's Studios head honcho Kevin Feige, briefly goes over potential movie adaptions for lesser-known characters like Iron Fist, SHIELD & even Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Marvel's independent slate of films are growing, with two Iron Man films, The Incredible Hulk franchise reborn (and may be rebooted yet again), the debut of THOR, the period-piece Captain America: The First Avenger, the eventual hero team-up with The Avengers, under their belt, but what's next?

In this rather non-news interview with MTV, Marvel's head honcho rehashes the possibility of potential films after Avengers including Iron Fist, Black Panther, and even Guardians Of The Galaxy.



"I think what Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction have done with 'Iron Fist' lately is exciting," Feige told MTV News. "I think 'Black Panther' and Wakanda has some amazing potential to be a feature film. 'Doctor Strange,' as you've mentioned. There are some obscure titles, too, like 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' I think they've been revamped recently in a fun way in the book."

"I think S.H.I.E.L.D. could be it's own franchise. I think, frankly, 'The Avengers' is going to be told from that point of view more so than any of the other films at that point, so we're going to get an inside look [at how S.H.I.E.L.D.] operates."

With Marvel's Runaways developing quietly and with filming beginning early next year, I think we can assume it'll be the film following "The Avengers." If anyone didn't notice, Feige has basically confirmed that Marvel may be using The Avengers to usher in the Marvel Cosmic Universe, which was an exclusive by "MultiPurposePoni", one of CBM's editors.


DCMF - I honestly think a SHIELD movie would be unnecessary, and I'd rather see a SHIELD story told on the big-screen through a Captain America sequel. I mean SHIELD's origin is already being told in Cap's origin movie. And the only villain I could see their having is HYDRA, a Cap villain also. So why make a solo movie? What do you think?

I'm looking forward to IRON FIST & BLACK PANTHER! (Thumbs up for them)

Also GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY would be flippin' fantastic!!!

But hellz no to ever wanting to see the S.H.I.E.L.D movie lol, SLJ was bad enough in the few minutes he was FURY in IRON MAN 2!

Need a real S.H.I.E.L.D movie or don't bother! : P

I kind of want to see a New Avengers movie or an Ultimate Alliance, Civil War. Where not just the Avengers are teamed up but the whole Marvel Universe Is teamed up.

Sweet find DCMF! :) I could spend all day listing the movies I'd like to see Marvel do but any of the above would make me more than happy! I'm really looking forward to seeing more of S.H.I.E.L.D especially...I just hope they wear something a little more interesting than just the suits seen in the Thor trailer!

tea: I'm not a huge Guardians of the Galaxy fan but that is a great cast! Nice work bud! :)

what i want to see marvel do is.....thunderbolts movie as well as annhilation film.

i'm up for a iron fist movie if its got luke cage in it as well.

black panther,could end up being a crossover movie with him joining the avengers in avengers 2.

not a big fan of dr.strange,but could be real cool looking as well.

runaways,i'd rather see the new mutants or the new warriors.

@CaptainAmerica - Actually, the last punisher game was pretty good, though not a sandbox.

But combining some of your earlier commments, can you imagine a Secret Wars game that was part RTS?!?! Kind of like Brutal Legend. That would, quite frankly, make my head a splode.

I really dislike Kevin Feige. Have you guys noticed that Marvel hasn't really changed when it comes to being cheap? Sure their making big budget movies like Iron Man but they are still cutting corners or going with the philosophy its there way or the highway.

Black Panther and Doctor Strange are obvious ones that should be high on Marvel's priority list for post-Avengers.

But an Iron Fist/Luke Cage/Heroes for Hire TV show would work better IMO than a film.

Also, he said he liked the way the series has been revamped lately. We won't see the old cast.

I've got the original series still from my childhood back in the 1700's. LOL

Poni: If you haven't went back and looked through any of the comments on the Favreau article from yesterday, you should. I think after reading all the comments, that there are only about 5 people on this site with any memory retention.

Dude, a sandbox Marvel game like Red Dead or GTA would be the best thing since Pajamas. Holy crap!!!

I also agree that a straight-up SHIELD movie is a waste. I think SHIELD should just remain as the "glue" and be interconnected in all of Marvel Film's movies. I also think the SHIELD theme could work wonders for a Punisher movie. You know how in later years SHIELD started hunting Frank Castle. That would be an awesome story.

Now here are my fancasts for lead hero and villain roles in a few movies he mentioned.

Danny Rand: Jason David Frank

Steel Serpent: Ray Park

Stephen Strange: Patrick Dempsey

Baron Mordo: Leonardo DiCaprio

T'Chala: Nelsan Ellis

Man-Ape: Kevin Grevioux ((though he told me that he'd like to be Erik Killmonger......he may have been joking, though))

@Poni: I saw someone on Facebook posting stuff like "If Ryan Reynolds isn't available for "Deadpool", who would you pick?" and I'm thinking "Is this guy thinking that DC is going to go ahead and make a second GL before they can even get "Flash" going?" Because I read the article, but I still think that they're going to go forward with "Flash" and then make a second GL, followed by "Wonder Woman", "Superman", and "Aquaman". I wouldn't be surprised to see "Flash" show up a couple of months after the next "Batman" in theaters.

Moon Knight!!!!!

It'd be cheap. no super expensive cgi. It would be perfect to crossover with the Punisher and a Daredevil reboot. it would be good to do a marvel knights series. a darker series of marvel films. Like moon Knight, Punsiher, Daredevil. In the vein of the MAX comics. And of course do crossovers. They could be low budget too. like 90 mil.

I want Disney to do a live action "Power Pack" movie. To bad they don't have the rights to FF. If they did: then a short film with Franklin Richards and H.E.R.B.I.E. would be great just before the film. Oh well.

Moon Knight would also be a great candidate for one of their shorts as well. Like an introduction to test the waters. But still do the Moon Knight , Punisher, and Daredevil movies under the Marvel Knights series. It would be a good way to say "Hey these are darker mature movies."

Also bring Tom Jane back as the Punisher. He was great.

STFU to all the haters, a SHIELD movie could be awesome, a James Bond-type movie with a comic book feel. And it could look at how normal SHIELD agents led by Nick Fury take on HYDRA as opposed to superheroes fighting them. A SHIELD movie could be brilliant if done right

Captain Marvel would be awesome along with all the great characters mentioned above

Moon Knight would rock and maybe there could be a Black Panther trilogy, first movie in Wakanda, he fights the guy who killed his father

second movie: he goes to America, fights a racist group

third movie: returns to Wakanda, fights off different gangs who are trying to take over Wakanda

And wtf do you mean another Hulk reboot?! YOU DONT NEED ANOTHER REBOOT! Just because its a different actor playing the role doesnt mean it should be a [frick]ing reboot! Bruce Banner looks different all of the time in the comic when different artists are drawing him, why should it be any different in the movies. Just make it a damn sequel! They didnt reboot Iron Man when War Machine's actor changed, did they?!

Oh and enough Punisher movies, he just doesnt work in a movie, but a R rated tv show where he fights different gangs and killers in every episode which eventually leads him to fighting a big villain at the end of each season would be great! You know like Smallville, but without the annoying teen angst and truer to the comics. Any Marvel character that doesnt need CGI to look believable would be awesome in a tv show!

Dream on mate, your asking too much there. If they make an original Avengers trilogy and make it awesome, they will be doing enough. Maybe get the original actors (such as Robert Downey Jr and so on) to do a CGI animated movie set in the Marvel movie universe but thats the best you are gonna get

Looks like the Gauntlet is going to be in a Marvel Studios movie and Silver Surfer belongs to Fox (for now) so I doubt its going to be in that movie

you guys relise that it would take years to make all that i mean it is taking 5 years to just make the avengers work they would have to start to make 3 movies in a year to make a civil war movie or secret war before rdj would become too old to it so i say that they start to make tv shows and tie it in with the movies but then it would become too confusing for the people that do not watch that show

Guardians of the Galaxy?!?!? Are you flipping kidding me?! With the depth of Marvel properties the idea that they would produce a live-action movie based on Guardians of the Galaxy is preposterous. I'll give a Joe Namath guarantee that a Guardians of the Galaxy movie will NEVER see the light of day.

Well being a big fan I would really love to see these in movie form but doubt it would ever happen...

I would wanna see some 2099 films of Spider Man, Doom, and Punisher.

And another fantasy of mine would be a Marvel Zombies film and a crossover with Marvel Zombies vs Army of Darkness with Sam Raimi Directing and Bruce Campbell and Tobey Maguire reprising their roles.

Both will probably never happen but I can dream. But I do really love the Moon Knight Idea.
