Johnny Whitworth Confirms Portraying 'Blackout' In Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance!

In a video interview with AMC Theaters, actor Johnny Whitworth, promoting the Bradley Cooper-starrer Limitless, reveals he'll portray the villain of Sony's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. In addition to revealing the role, Whitworth also sheds on little light on his place in the film.



One of the takes on 'Blackout' in the comics that'll most likely be used in the film, via Marvel, is a darkness-generating superhuman and professional criminal. He has the ability to automatically generate a light-dampening field which negates all visible light in a significant area. His albino-esque complexion and extreme physical sensitivity to sunlight and light in general likely accounts for this power-manifestation, and its vampiric similarities apparently led him to have his teeth and fingernails replaced with mechanically-enhanced metal ones.


Anyhow, also starring Nicholas Cage, Idris Elba, and Christopher Lamber, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance hits theaters February 17, 2012 in 3D!

wrong blackout dude theres two in the MU, marcus daniel isnt the one, theres another one who's half demon and human made his debut in ghost rider. So I don't think his powers or origin necessarily are going to be changed.Although by the sounds of they have changed certain things looks like were actually going to see the birth of black out

cool! This movie has the potential to be much better than the first one. As long as they get rid of the cheesyness and the simplistic, predictable plot (as well as much of the bad acting as possible) that was in the first film then their all set for a good movie.

Nic Cage's involvement makes this a fail before it was even made. Why they stuck with that ham bone is beyond me.

Why have we seen nothing from this movie as far as him as ghost rider i know they do all that in post but some concept art would be nice...oh well this movies gonna BLOW anyway

Exiles is right. He won't be Daniels, who is at the bottom of the above pic, but the demon Blackout who is at the top of the pic. Daniels was an Avengers villain as a member of the Masters of Evil.

Nah... hope so, although it needs to be back at MARVEL STUDIOS at least it ain't F'ing FOX!

not expecting too much from this film,he'll probably look nothing like the blackout from the comics.

the picture on the right hand side,it shows ghost rider & two characters called blackout.

the one in the middle should be what he looks like,his a vampire if i remember correctly.

@marvel72 i wouldn't call blackout a vampire, the only thing vampire like about him is sensitivity to light and the fact that he implanted metal teeths for vampiric appearance but the dudes just a human/demon hybrid in the comics.

i haven't read a ghost rider comic in years,when danny ketch first became the ghost rider way back in the 90s.

when blackout first showed up is the last time i read ghost rider.

This movie can really give us the supernaturally "creepy" type of anti-hero that has been missing from the genre ever since Blade, the first Hell-boy or even Constantine if you want to count him. I'm hoping that this movie will be insane, even with Cage's old ass still playing Blaze.

Well not bad, tho Vengeance surely will be more badass!
