With filming expanding in Cleveland, more action is unfolding on the set of Marvel Studios' The Avengers. And while we have more than enough coverage of 'Captain America,' Chris Evans, in action, the Cleveland Plain Dealer has received more. Depicting Evans staging an "alley" fight, concluding with a shield throw (attempt), that'll fill out with VFX, watch below.

Other reports from the set suggest that earlier filming today consisted of Tom Hiddleston in Loki garb, chasing extras out of a jewelry store. Anyhow, here are a few more images from the set, with Iron Man director Jon Favreau spotted (sorta).

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki Laufeyson), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

cool! I like how he swings it! I wondered how they cut it... so they just paint it out and make it continue towards the camera... nice! :)

Jonny's on deck? Woot woot!
ksommer - 8/17/2011, 1:02 PM
Agreed @Julesimanerd! I knew Favreau was going to be part of this but I figured it'd just be some small post production aspect of it. Really cool that he's behind the filming process too.
ThaMessenger07 - 8/17/2011, 1:03 PM
He should have kipped up!

Captain America's on the ground? This enemy is pretty made strong!
Benjamitesandwich - 8/17/2011, 1:11 PM
I wonder what he's throwing it at. O_o
Maybe the Skrull/Kree/Atlantian guy he was fighting with on the car perhaps.
CraptainAmerica - 8/17/2011, 1:13 PM
Can't see the video?

Ace to see Favreau!
ksommer - 8/17/2011, 1:15 PM
Another thing to note!! If Favreau is there, Iron Man is probably in the scene... Maybe Iron Man knocked him down????
NeoBaggins - 8/17/2011, 1:15 PM
Cool. Even MORE SET FOOTAGE! The stuntman moves hella fast. I like the usage of the flimsy prop shield. It has no weight, so when you see the finalized version, it makes Cap look strong because he's whipping it around like it's nothing- although I can't remember how lite/heavy the shield id supposed to be.

Hope they break out some new shield tricks though. Some crazy banks and they MUST have a Cap/THOR toss off during a battle. Legoles and Gimli style trying to show each other up.
BooYah - 8/17/2011, 1:18 PM
Favreau will make sure they have Stark act right.
Greengo - 8/17/2011, 1:21 PM
Interesting hypothesis. But if Cap and Iron Man are fighting... what's the shield gonna do?
CorndogBurglar - 8/17/2011, 1:25 PM
@ greengo

lol, Iron Man would stomp the piss out of Cap. Just like Civil War.
ksommer - 8/17/2011, 1:25 PM
Isn't Vibranium stronger than whatever Iron Man's suit made of? It could knock him down or just make him off balance for a fight?
Greengo - 8/17/2011, 1:32 PM
@Corndogbandit That's what I thought. I dunno bout the vibranium... hmmmm
BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 8/17/2011, 1:33 PM
Jon's on deck, Caps of ice, Stark is popping bottles all night aye Joss is giving us whatever we like, we can have whatever we like
Greengo - 8/17/2011, 1:37 PM

ksommer - 8/17/2011, 1:40 PM
Wow... Really mothman? Really????
Greengo - 8/17/2011, 1:41 PM
MrAnonymous: So I guess Stark's the one that has rubber-band banks in his pocket
Benjamitesandwich - 8/17/2011, 1:47 PM
@mothman

Ya, Avengers is going to fail in the box office due to the fact that it's been being sat up since 2008 and just about everyone knows about it and is pumped for the release.

Even if Avengers just so happens to be bad, it will still do very well in the box office. If you ask me, it will destroy TDKR either way.
ckal - 8/17/2011, 1:53 PM
Chris Evans looks too skinny, what the hell?
Greengo - 8/17/2011, 1:56 PM
Trollin, trollin, trollin, keep them mothmen trollin, Rawhide!!
Greengo - 8/17/2011, 1:57 PM

write33 - 8/17/2011, 1:59 PM
god i love these vids. and that they are filming on locations and not just sets! soooooo crazy ready for this movie!!
dahamma - 8/17/2011, 2:03 PM
when will we see someone other than cap!
JediRob - 8/17/2011, 2:05 PM
Maybe he's there as Happy Hogan.
WinterSoldier24 - 8/17/2011, 2:20 PM
Lol I don't understand why people keep saying that TDKR is going to "crush" The Avengers? Two completely different types of movies aside from them both deriving from comic books. It's like saying Star Wars is better than Enter The Dragon.

They both will do well in their own rights.
nuclearpriest - 8/17/2011, 2:25 PM
Let's start a rumor that Jon Favreau is directing second unit for the Avengers movie. After all, we now have photographic proof to back it up.
dahamma - 8/17/2011, 2:34 PM
@theworld, Me too, it looked more soldier like
SageMode - 8/17/2011, 5:25 PM
"He looks skinny"
From like 100 feet away? hmmmm..............
OnLeatherWings - 8/17/2011, 7:25 PM
hate the new suit. looks super gay. maby cgi will make it better. but for now....it sucks
NeoBaggins - 8/17/2011, 8:07 PM
"Trollin, trollin, trollin, keep them mothmen trollin, Rawhide!!"-Greengo

Lmao
FriendlyNeighborhoodSpidey - 8/17/2011, 9:34 PM
Aw come one you guys. I like this suit. Only thing I wish they did was show his ears and give him metal wings. I mean at least it's not like the new spidey costume. Now THAT thing sucks.
xizorkatarn - 8/17/2011, 9:41 PM
Happy Hogan????
Vital - 8/17/2011, 9:50 PM
Just ignore the troll comments guys, you know better than to give them what they want.
Lert - 8/17/2011, 10:49 PM
suit-suits him and this movie...gaysofar!
NeoBaggins - 8/17/2011, 11:32 PM
@GayBlade LMAO I can see how people (especially the genral audience) might think the suit is laughable and Power Rangish. I think I like it because I'm surprised that they went this close to the actual costume. The helmet looks kinda funny and I would have went with the brown gloves, boots and belt-pockets. But it'll do. And yes, the fanboyism here is pitiful.

It's funny watching a guy spew venom and hate at the TDKR threads, then you see them here blowing loads at the slightest piece of footage. Talking all nice and sweet to each other all of a sudden lol.

ps: Anyone who likes the Spider-man suit shouldnt say ANYTHING about ANY suit... EVER.
aztecRaingod - 8/17/2011, 11:56 PM
Its odd that they decided to give Hawkeye and Black Widow stripped down, more sensible costume versions, yet they decided to go full on rocket popsicle for Caps getup.

They should have gone with something sleek and semi believable, like the Alex Ross CA costume. Oh well, maybe it wont look as cheesy in the movie.

NeoBaggins - 8/18/2011, 2:15 AM
@aztecRaingod How is Black Widows suit "stripped down"? It's a a black body suit. Just like Catwoman save for the cowl, her and Widow have MORE going on suit-wise that what's in the comic. And I think Hawkeye's costume is too outrageous for live-action, and plus they're focusing on the main Avengers. Why dress Hawkeye up to the T, only to have him play a modest role? He's actually look like a WATCHMEN if they honored his suit.

I think they went full Cap because it's Cap. It's hard to downplay a blue suit with red stripes on the belly.
GUNSMITH - 8/18/2011, 2:27 AM

NeoBaggins - 8/18/2011, 2:35 AM
@aztecRaingod Also; I'm not arguing or disputing your points. Just makin convo. I'm assuming Caps suit will tone down into a less cartoonish piece with the final color filters and cinematography.

Is this in 3D?
KungFuKoala - 8/18/2011, 3:01 AM
So is it Chris in the clip or his stuntman? You'd hope it would be Chris, hardly needs a double to pull off standing up and not throwing a shield.

Maybe he has a breakdancing double!
fangz - 8/18/2011, 5:30 AM
i don't think it looks cartoonish even in these pictures. it's already looking better than the WW2 costume from the last movie. this is the Avengers, they are superheroes, they're supposed to look like it. that's the great thing about not having Nolan direct a comic book movie. we don't gotta worry about 'realism' stealing everyone's style. the picture of Cap that GUNSMITH posted is perfect! superheroes shouldn't have to hide behind functionality.
