As promised in the blu-ray trailer for Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger movie, 'The Assembly Begins' featurette depicting a special behind-the-scenes look Marvel and Joss Whedon's The Avengers movie, has found it's way online. Offering a new look at the team, as well concept art, & what seems to be a glimpse of the aliens, the video & screencaps are below via RimBreaks.

Marvel's The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.

Bruce Banner is wearing a prison jump suit?? maybe after his capture from the cabin scene surrounded by SHIELD perhaps?

Hulk will be more controlled towards the fight scene when he & Avengers fight the villains (or aliens)in the city.

Heh, at first I thought that's Robert Downey Jr. in the armor built of CGI and was unfinished...guess the lighting made it all. :P And the aliens are - predators!? Look very much alike from the back at least, lmao.

Eh, Phalanx look to make much a fit to that image now...



Thinking it should be cool for a movie too, though not yet knowing much of them...but I could say I believe they are them. :)

There's no way in hell it'll be the Phalanx. I would love to see them in a movie, but they're just too much for five Avengers to handle.

Also, the way they're fighting in the streets doesn't resemble the way the Phalanx do things.

Its an alien race that have never been in the comics. At least thats what I've been hearing.

This is the EXACT clip they showed us when they intro'd marvel at D23. damnit. It was a lot cooler in a dark theater with 4000 fans.

@ Jennn lol..... but what r the phalanx? ive never heard of them ? from the pics someone posted and the still of the 3 screens they look similar and have some purple energy glowing on theyre body .... do they shoot purple energy blast? because if they do in the last avengers trailer we got i see a few purple energy blast hit the cars and then they all blow up!

LOL no idea. They showed us this. Then Fiege came out and talked a bit. Then they showed us the 4 minute clip reel (that had NOTHING about the phalanx), the cast came out, and they showed the 4 minute clip reel again, and then it was over. That's all I got.

in that one pic where the alien is attacking Fury the screen is so out of focus that Fury looks like the Red Skull kinda.

Looks like Thor is laying the smack down on Iron Man in the wooded area. I'm sure that's why in the sneak peak, Tony Stark says to Thor, "You got a mean swing."

It does look like them, but the Phalanx are an Xmen villian. So unless Fox doesn't own them then it's game on.

In the Marvel movie universe Asgardians are aliens. The whole 9 realms are planets. I keep saying, it's not necessarily Skrulls or Kree. It is just as likely Loki is leading frost giants or something similar. It would actually make more sense also.

This artwork is amazing. Its hard to tell what alien race it is. They could have a armor on. If its the Phalanx that would be cool but Avengers couldn't handle them alone. Must be Kree in a space suit.

I highly doubt its the frost giants, becuz the video of the fight scenes with Cap & Thor show the villains holding alien-like weapons.

Frost giants create icicles for weapons..not frost giants.

In reference to the 9 realms:

In Norse mythology, the Nine Realms are interconnected through Yggdrasil, the world tree. This is the importance of the "tree" that Thor draws, it's how the Asgardians view the structure of the universe.

In Marvel canon, the Nine Realms are:

Alfheim
Home of the Light Elves (Ljósálfar). Alfheim is a distinct region on the Asgard planetoid.
Asgard
Home of the Asgardians. Asgard is the name of the planetoid, a distinct region on the planetoid and its capital city.
Hel
Realm of the dead who are neither honored nor dishonored. It is ruled by Hela.
Jotunheim
Home of the Giants (Jötunn).
Midgard
Midgard is the Earthly plane of existence. Although technically not a part of the Asgardian dimension, it is considered one of the Nine Worlds by the Asgardians because of its significant connections to Asgard.
Muspelheim
Home of the Demons. It is ruled by Surtur.
Nidavellir
Home of the Dwarves. Nidavellir is a distinct region on the Asgard planetoid.
Svartalfheim
Home of the Dark Elves (Svartálfar).
Vanaheim
Home of the Vanir who are the sister race of the Asgardians. Vanaheim is a distinct region on the Asgard planetoid.

There are also two "regions" outside the Nine Realms:
Niffleheim
Realm of the dishonored dead which is distinct but closely connected to Hel.
Valhalla
Realm of the honored dead and is a distinct region on the Asgard planetoid.

@hulk2008, yeah I know all that. But in the Marvel movie universe Asgardians, Frost Giants, etc are treated as aliens. That's why I say it could just as easily be Loki leading an invasion of one of the 9 realms into earth as the Skrulls or Kree.

@knossis don't call it that. Many people don't think the bible is mythology. Heck, there are still a few who believe in the Norse religion. So don't refer to them as that. It's disrespectful. I know you might not have realized that, but if you didn't before, now you do.

Maybe I got the wrong definition from the wrong dictionary. (8D
And I'm all for freedom of speech. Just you know. Show respect. Nothing wrong with that :)

I would be surprised if that wasn't a prison jumpsuit on Banner, actually. Also generally interesting that he's unshaven and wearing different (non-metal frame) glasses than he was in the trailer. A post-hulk-out SHIELD imprisonment Bruce maybe?

That cage in the Helicarrier is kind of like Chekhov's gun, the Hulk has to end up in it eventually.
