Trick 'r Treat is a strange beast to say the least. The comic was based on the film from Michael Dougherty, which was initially set for a 2007 release. But, despite strong buzz from festivals and previews, the movie was unceremoniously pulled from the schedule by Warner Brothers for reasons known only to them. Wildstorm had been planning a tie-in mini-series adaptation, but it wasn’t released.

Now, two years later, the film gets a DVD release on Tuesday, October 6th, and the planned mini has been collected as one graphic novel by writer Marc Andreyko and a group of talented artists.

Make no mistake: Trick 'r Treat is for horror fans; if you don’t dig the genre, then you probably shouldn’t pick this one up.

OK, I don't know much about comics, but THIS is one I gotta have. Is it going to be a series kinda thing or just a one-off (or whatever they are called). I live in Charlotte, NC and will be calling my local "Heroes Aren't Hard To Find" Monday morning! (Been there once to get my brother a few 'Star Wars' comics when he was in the hospital... I was totally confused......)

actually, it was suppose to be a comic mini-series but instead they are going to combine the mini into a graphic novel. ;)

The film is an anthology of four Halloween-related scary stories. One thing that ties the stories together is the presence of Sam, a mysterious pint-sized trick-or-treater with a burlap pumpkin mask, who makes an appearance in all the stories, as a 'friendly-reminder' to those who break the Halloween traditions.

Nothing is what it seems when a suburban couple learns the dangers of blowing out a jack-o'-lantern before midnight; a terrifying principal (Dylan Baker) with a serial killer attitude teaches one neighbor the true meaning of Halloween; Laurie (Academy Award-winner Anna Paquin), a young woman dressed as Little Red Riding Hood, is stalked by a mysterious hooded figure at a local Halloween festival; a group of pranksters go too far and discover the horrifying truth buried in a local urban legend of a school bus massacre; and a cantankerous old hermit (Brian Cox), is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick.
Things turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety — human and otherwise — try to survive the scariest night of the year
