The Green Lantern movie ball is rolling, but what's happening with Ryan Reynold's other superhero project? The Merc with a Mouth himself dishes on screenwriters, studio meetings and...Tarantino?

Many comic fans are wondering about the status of the Deadpool solo film. MTV got a chance to catch up with Ryan Reynolds, who shed some light on the current production's progress:

"I think at this point everyone's just focused on getting the right script and the right tone and the right writer involved and I think from there, the world's your oyster," explained Reynolds of the film's current status. "If you get that right, you're going to get an amazing director."

No screenwriters have yet been linked to the project. Will we be hearing any definitive news anytime soon? Reynolds had this to say,

"That's just right now being decided," he said. "There's been a lot of meetings and we've met with a bunch of different writers, all of which had amazing and slightly disparate takes from one another. So we're figuring that out right now. Hopefully soon."

There are many A-list directors that could do this property justice. Reynolds has one in mind that few would have considered.

"You think directors for a movie like this and you immediately picture [Quentin] Tarantino or somebody like that. Obviously Tarantino is a guy that likes to direct his own material, so there's a good chance he wouldn't be the guy. We all have our lists of dream directors."

MPP - What do you guys think? Should Tarantino be a top contender to helm the Deadpool movie?

Wishfull thinking.

Personally I would go for it, but millions of DP crazed fans would not be. Tarentino would not color inside the lines if you know what I mean

I would love to see it..But its very unlikely. I reckon RR is just throwing the name out there because he saw that Tarantino was a comic fan and said he would love to make a movie someday.

Multi: Dude! Great minds think alike! I said back in August how David Fincher would make an amazing Deadpool movie! Awesome thinking!

David Fincher for the director's chair, don't know who should write it. It seems logical for Goyer to write, but he's not the best guy out there when it comes to CBM's, so I don't know.

DAVID FINCHER!! Tarantino could do a good job and I LOVE all his movies, but I can't picture him directing
DEADPOOL.

Lee: Thanks, I'm pretty much locked in with having a Tyler Durden avatar from now on lol. It's actually pretty appropriate for this article, since David Fincher should direct it, and make another masterpiece like Fight Club ;)

JoshWilding - 12/7/2009, 12:54 PM
Nah, I'd rather not have Tarantino involved in this movie...I've been on board with TYLER's choice of David Fincher for a while now so he'd be my top choice for who should be in the directors chair!

LEE: What about my new avatar, lol? ;D

Dont forget to check out my Black Panther fan cast guys! :)

Tarantino would be a good choice to direct Deadpool. More than likely he wouldn't but if you all remember, he directed on of my all-time favoritre CSI Vegas episodes ever.

He wrote and directed the one where Nick Stokes got kidnapped (Two part episode).

The reason why I loved that episode was simply because in that episode, Quintin managed to use every single member of the CSI Vegas cast needed to help finding Nick relevantly and still managed to logically imprint his trademark filming into the two episode.

It was because of those episodes that I convinced my mom to give him another chance and she watched both Kill Bill movies which she loved both of them equally.

I would welcome Tarrantino in the director's chair for Deadpool but at the same time I am not holding my breath about it. If he does great, but if he doesn't oh well.

If anything though, more than likely he ain't gonna wanna do anything no associated with either Miramax, Dimention, or The Weinstein Company. Because Deadpool is under the Fox umbrella and those greedy bastards. Its a good safe bet that Tarrintino will not even be any where near Deadpool.

Multi: Definitely, and he would be perfect for showing the audience that there is clearly something wrong with this guy, but you can't help but like him, like with Tyler Durden (well, you liked him up until the very end, but close enough)

Fincher can do dark humor too, and some regular humor too.

@multi David Fincher would be really kool. Fight Club and Benjamin Button were, both, great. From watching Fight Club, you can see that he likes movies to be close to the source material.
jjmeylar

BTW! MULTI! "I wanna be sedated" would rock for an opening sequence. lol

Yeah Taratino would never direct this, but I would love to see him do it also.
RockNRollCC

Id wanna see David Goyer and Joe Kelly tackle writing.

Definately Tarantino, hes great at doing stuff like this(Kill Bill), but i don't think he would do this movie unless he were paid alot. My second choice would be Sam Raimi (if you didn't like his Spider Man films so far, just look past that onto The Evil Dead. Those movies just have a Deadpool fealing.)

here, check out DP&F Directors and Writters VLog (i know, theres a lota parts):

him, sack snyder, oreven mcg would be nice directors for deadpool.but i would love to see guilmoro del toro,or even peter jackson do a x-men film besides deadpool, because they could do the mutant characters like beak, chamber, husk, nightcrawler and mutants like that and make them really stand out. but i think they need to take the action down a notch and bump up the plot, story, and characters.

i wonder what mutants they would use in the deadpool film. agent-x and phantom-x would be cool.

I personally think that Zack Snyder is definitely the man for the job. He would take the comic book on the set and make sure it all goes smooth.
