When Lobo was announced as one of DC's next characters to receive the studio treatment, fans of the last living Czarnian started throwing possible casting choices around all over the net. Newly released information regarding the film's production shows that we might have been a bit ahead of ourselves.

DC Comics blue skinned, alien bounty hunter will be getting his own movie treatment, but Guy Ritchie might not be the man behind the lens.

The director of the much anticipated film Sherlock Holmes has denied the rumor that he is confirmed to take on Lobo as his next project.

Ritchie recently spoke with MTV News:

"Is it a matter of fact that I'm doing it?" Ritchie said "I don't think it's a matter of fact."

"In fact, I can tell you it's not a matter of fact."

When pressed to divulge any information regarding his involvement with the project, Ritchie added:

"Isn't there a fifth amendment or something?"

Ritchie's name has also been attached to the possible Sgt. Rock film. Now that his name isn't officially attached to Lobo, we might see him follow through with DC's WWII battle-hardened hero.

The only Guy Ritchie movie I've seen was Revolver, I hate it. Looking forward to Sgt. Rock more than Lobo.

I generally like Ritchie's movies except when I can't understand what they are saying. Ror-since you are one of the closest to this area, Is the slang used realistic or just Ritchie's style?

Clint Eastwood, your point is irrelevant. Its like saying the actor "Clint Eastwood" should play the role.

Agreed, for 40 years ago. But who would you cast now?

Guy can do some decent films. However, I don't think he's right for the Lobo idea. Who knows!

Well dogs, the Cockerny Ryming slang is real but nobody actually talks like that. But that isn't even what annoys me about him. I liked Lock Stock..then Snatch came along and that was ok too but it was basically the same movie. Then the next 3 were beyond awful. I know a lot of people like RockenRolla but I thought it was the biggest load of shit. I hate the way he has to have a narrator all of the time, like his piss poor plots would be so hard to follow without listening to some old cockney bastard rambling on about "Big tony is a horrible c#nt, and he own this facking painting see..." [frick] off Ritchie..your not fooling me sunshine.

Phinehas@ You're perfectly right! Clint Eastwood would be FANTASTIC for Sarge Rock!!! Hahaha, Willis isn't that old, he can still do action, Rock looks a little older.

"Isn't there a fifth amendment or something?" First Tobey Maguire and now him. LOL
Anyway, he seems to have just about admitted to not being a fan of Lobo, which is a sure sign that he will not make a good movie.

Thanks for clearing that up Ror. I didn't think anybody actually talked like that but I didn't want to speak outta me own arse.

What about Guillermo Del Toro. I think he did a great job with the look of Hellboy. It would just need to be ratcheted up a few notches and geared for a slightly older crowd

LEEE777 - 12/18/2009, 12:41 PM
Guillermo Del Toro, amazing choice @ DOGS!!

Get the crew from HELLBOY 2 and we'd have a [frick]ing b1tching LOBO movie in the works!!

Ritchie is a quality director who's had growing pains...you can see his talent better in earlier works though....whatever you say he understands how to make a violent movie without turning critics off

@DogsOfWar & LEEE
That would be pretty awesome getting the Hellboy crew to do it but I still want a Hellboy 3 first. I hope we get one in 2013 or 2014 after Guillermo is done with the Hobbit. Give the trilogy a good ending because eventually Ron Perlman will get too old for the role and I would not like to see anyone else as Hellboy. A 2013 or 2014 release would be perfect

There's ONE thing that SHOULD be set in stone:

JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN FOR LOBO!!!

While I like Ritchie stylistically, I don't see him as being the best choice for an 'out there, superhero/CBM character. I think that Lobo is a perfect choice for someone like the Wachowskis. Crazy characters, great FX, huge guns, TONS of violence. Great combo all around. Thoughts?
