I was just going through some You Tube videos like you do and I came across a gold mine find. I found deleted stuff of what is one of the best Batman movies of all time, I thought I couldn't not share it with you guys at CBM, hope you enjoy the video, I sure did. Click here to see the video...

Batman is a 1989 superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name, directed by Tim Burton. The film stars Michael Keaton in the title role, as well as Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Robert Wuhl and Jack Palance. The film, in which Batman deals with the rise of a powerful villain known as "The Joker", is the first installment of Warner Bros.' Batman film series.

After Burton's hiring as director, Steve Englehart and Julie Hickson wrote film treatments before Sam Hamm wrote the first screenplay. Batman was not greenlit until after the success of Burton's Beetlejuice (1988). Numerous A-list actors were considered for the role of Batman. Nicholson was cast as the Joker in a deal that included both salary and a portion of the box office profits.

Filming took place at Pinewood Studios from October 1988 to January 1989. The budget escalated from $30 million to $48 million, while the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike forced Hamm to drop out. Uncredited rewrites were performed by Warren Skaaren, Charles McKeown and Jonathan Gems. Batman was a critical and financial success, earning over $400 million in box office totals. The film received several Saturn Award nominations and was nominated for an Academy Awards and a Golden Globe. It was succeeded by Batman: The Animated Series, a series of films for Warner Bros. and redefined the modern perception of the superhero film genre.

video prototype - 11/7/2009, 6:39 PM
this was a decent film...but it's not iconic to me...i like nicholson's joker and keaton's batman...but i love nolan's world more...especially bale's bruce/batman...and nothing for me in this world tops ledger's joker!!!!
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 7:17 PM
just as superman 1 was amazing...reeves is the epitome of the man of steel...but i mean flying around the world to reverse time..and in part 2...kissing lois till she forgot his id...and also the infamous S that he threw at non...lol
they really mucked up sum parts...but these 2 superhero films...superman and batman will forever live in high esteem!!!
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 7:19 PM
Don't get me wrong i like it but even before the new batmans came out i thought it was just alright. When i was a kid i loved it but now its good but i never really liked joker in this. Jack Nicholson is a GREAT actor but i never thought of him as joker.
tyko450 - 11/7/2009, 7:44 PM
epic ;p. still its good old is gold right ;p.
legionbecks - 11/7/2009, 8:31 PM
@anil ricky heath was barley the joker compared to Nicholson. Nicholson was like the funny joker from the coimics heath the only good thing in the dark knight was to serious. which is a little ironic
bleedthefreak16 - 11/7/2009, 9:01 PM
just my opinion feel free to keep yours
bleedthefreak16 - 11/7/2009, 9:02 PM
As much as I like Nolan's take on the Batman mythos, I like Keaton's portrayal of the character more than Bale's. Keaton's Batman was just plain scary. He rarely talked, and he always seemed to stare through you. Bale's Batman is more on an 'in your face', knock around guy. While I'd be worried about Bale's Batman kicking my ass, Keaton's would make me run for the hills :)

And when I see Burton's Gotham City, it feels spot on with the comics. It just screams dangerous.
MultiPurposePoni - 11/7/2009, 9:22 PM
I like both films equally. Do I have to like on over the other? Ok, IF I had to choose, it'd be Nolan's vision over Burton's. But that is only because I like seeing the CBMs come as close to our reality as possible. There was a charm and sadistic unpredictability to Nicholson's Joker, while Ledger's was a pyschotic genius. They're just different angles. Both executed very well. Both Keaton and Bale are two men that I would not have casted but pulled off the role exceptionally well.
Phinehas - 11/7/2009, 9:59 PM
i heard somewhere that the reason bale's batman had such a raspy voice, is because keaton's batman kicked him in the throat.
homer4858 - 11/8/2009, 1:00 AM
@Multi- spot on.
This is the 1st film I ever saw in the cinema and is still my favourite film of all time. Still gives me chills!
invalensname - 11/8/2009, 2:00 AM

Keaton is the one true batman imo.......Bales sunken chin, lisp and pear shaped mug makes batman look like a bobble head ;)

LEEE777 - 11/8/2009, 12:13 PM
I know I'm gonna get called all sorts of names here, but I f**king hated Burton's Batman. It just had that rotting smell of commercialism. I wish Nolan and Bale could have been around back then, again just my opinion.
ASSASSIN666 - 11/8/2009, 12:38 PM
I kind of agree with you assassin666. i mean there was a Prince song in the movie.
Killian - 11/8/2009, 1:01 PM
@ASS: Yeah, it was a HUGE commercialized movie. I still have alot of the key chains, comics, toys and other tie-ins from 1989-90 that were based on the movie.

The studio was unsure if the movie itself would be successful, of course they were going to try to capitalize on it in other mediums. They still do it today don't they? Last time I checked, Deathstroke or the JLA weren't in The Dark Knight movie, but the toys are being sold with TDK logo.

You have to keep in mind, what was the last superhero movie to come out before Burton's Batman that got the full studio treatment? Burton took on the daunting task of making a Batman movie and the only live action reference he had was Adam West's version. Nolan had West's, Burton's and Sch*tmacher's; not to mention all the animated endeavors as reference points. His movies only exist because of the foundation that Burton and Donner's movies had laid down.

Though Nolan's Batman movies are more grounded in reality, they musn't forget the fantasy aspect of the source material or it will make no sense trying to tie them into a future JLA project.

On a side note, Nolan's take on Batman would have had no place in the late 80's and early 90's. It's stylized to today's era, just like Burton's was back them. that Prince song fit the time frame. That's like comparing special effects used in the original Star Trek movies to the new one.
MultiPurposePoni - 11/8/2009, 1:45 PM
ASSASSIN@ [frick] you you [frick]ing [frick]er lol ...hey we all have a differant idea of Batman, to me Nolans watered down Bats is nothing compared to Burtons vision and flare :D

But i think you will find Nolans and Burtons are equaly comercialised...differance is back then people were like WOW Batman...but today its oh another Batman :)
teabag - 11/8/2009, 1:50 PM
i agree with tea and multi for sure! burton's batman is far superior to nolan's. it was much closer to the comics in every way, and like multi said, burton's gotham looked much darker and scarier! that's the LAST place i would EVER want to go, lol.

and bale's portrayal of batman is shit. i don't mind him as bruce wayne at all, but i can't take him seriously in the costume, he has to try too hard to sound tough, i mean the guy has to stop in the middle of some sentences to catch his breath before he finishes the sentence. i shouldn't laugh every time i hear batman talk.

and heath was awesome as joker, but it was HEATH'S joker, not "THE" joker.
CorndogBurglar - 11/8/2009, 2:47 PM
Cool, I love this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
legder20 - 11/8/2009, 3:10 PM
Leee777: I hate to disagree with you, but I didnt really care for Keaton as Batman and hated the campy Joker. I think the Joker killed the first Batman for me. I did like the Bat-suit and the Batmobile as compared to today's version. Keaton was a terrible Bruce Wayne and a o.k. Batman he just phyiscally in no way fit either Bruce or Batman. He didnt have the playboy good looks of what you'd expect out of Bruce and he sure didnt look like a guy who pushed his body to phyiscal prefection he was too short and too small. I will agree that without that movie and that weak Superman of 1978 we my not have this web-site nor the movies we enjoy today. those movies reached enough people to show that you can make CBMOVIES and make a nice profit.
BLADE4040 - 11/8/2009, 4:08 PM
@ blade

the joker in '89 batman is exactly how he used to be in the comics at the time. and nicholson wasn't really campy just funny, caesar romero from the 60's version...now thats camp!!!
CorndogBurglar - 11/8/2009, 6:03 PM
Cool!
LEEE777 - 11/9/2009, 4:33 AM
I think what I love about Nolan's take on Bats is it seems more serious. I like the idea of Joker being more deranged then funny, and it I blame Burton more than Keaton. I happen to love the epic feel that Begins had in showing more of his back story. His training, his money, his gadgets, things the other movies didn't show.
ASSASSIN666 - 11/9/2009, 4:46 AM
@ASS: Well Batman Begins was an origin story, Burton's Batman wasn't. It's hard to compare the two in that aspect.
MultiPurposePoni - 11/9/2009, 7:48 AM
'89 Batman was more faithfull to the comic book. Nolan's Batman is faithfull to WB producers.
SirPrize - 11/9/2009, 7:50 AM
I remember reading the novelization when I was a kid and going to the movie theater. Both of them had the Joker saying "ask him!" after he says the wonderfil toys line. You watch the movie now and its like they cut away as soon as he says it.
antz1104 - 11/9/2009, 9:38 AM
Multi- You can't compare, but how cool was it to see how he starts getting his stuff. If your a James Bond fan sometimes the best part of those films was Q giving him new weapons for missions. I waited forever to see if they could pull of an origins story without Joker as a villain, and Nolan delivered. I still say Begins is in my top three with X-2 and Watchmen as the best comic films made
ASSASSIN666 - 11/9/2009, 10:24 AM
@ASS: Oh yeah, Begins was an outstanding movie along with TDK. I just don't try to compare two movies that are 15 years apart and also telling two different stories. It's too easy to nitpick.

Whereas you were waiting for Batman's origin story, I've been waiting for a movie that shows him portrayed as the world's greatest detective. So far after 6 feature films, they haven't delivered.
MultiPurposePoni - 11/9/2009, 11:06 AM
Leee@ thanks man, now a days too much animation is going films like batman it should have its realism meaning it doesnt need any animation to cbm movies like those now cbm movies like green lantern and superman (which sucked) needs animation chris nolan did a good job on his two batman movies he didnt go with animation.
legionbecks - 11/9/2009, 8:12 PM
You know what I would like to see? The costume design for Robin in Batman Returns...anyone got a clue?
TheDurkinKnight - 11/9/2009, 8:32 PM
there was no costume. it was just some street kid whos name was actually "kid". he was just a street kid that helped batman from time to time with information etc.....similiar to shia lebouf's character in i robot and constantine. not dick grayson, no costume, no name of robin.
superdog - 11/10/2009, 10:24 AM
CorndogBugluar: I hear you I just didnt care for the 89 version Batman ,especially the Joker with the Prince soundtrack and all the dancing it was almost a musical. I liked the bat-uniform and the batmobile from 89 I dont know what they're doing now with the uniform and the batmobile. I like Bale as Batman\Bruce Wayne I do think his voice is a bit much ,but other than that I'll take BALE\LEAGER OVER KEATON\JACK NICK.
BLADE4040 - 11/10/2009, 4:23 PM
BATMAN a good movie.
TDK IS A MASTERPIECE.
