The Definitive Review for Catwoman
A New Cat Rules the Night.

In my opinion, Catwoman is an under-rated film. In this movie, there is no Selina Kyle, Batman, or Gotham City. To me, there is only person that will always be the definitive Catwoman - Michelle Pfeiffer. So my expectations were low, when I heard that Halle Berry would be the actress who would portray my favorite comic book character in a stand alone film. Berry plays Patience Phillips, a graphic designer who learns that her boss is manifacturing a poisonous beauty cream. When she is killed, mystical cats bring her back to life as Catwoman.
The origin story for Catwoman is very similiar to the one that was seen in Batman Returns. Both are insecure women who are killed by their boss and brought back to life by cats. The only difference is that I cared about Selina Kyle and not Patience Phillips. I view Catwoman (the movie) as pure camp. Despite its many faults (silly dialogue, overuse of computer graphics, weak character development) I enjoyed Catwoman. Halle Berry is the weakest of all the Catwomen. I never felt that she was a serious threat to anybody.
I view Catwoman the movie on the same level as Batman & Robin. Both are over the top and not faithful to its comic book counter-parts. There are elements/parts of these films that I liked, even though they are few in number. Catwoman is not for everyone, but I have seen worse films than this.
