Remember this article from not too long ago: Sam Worthington Still Interested In Captain America? Movie Trailers - Movies Blog Sam was quoted as saying: "I think they're smudging me out. I don't think they wanted Captain Australia, did they?" It looks like it was not too far off. Worthington is in negotiations to play Outback Jack. Who is Outback Jack? It seems the known Invader, Union Jack, is tied up alongside Sub-Mariner over at Universal Studios. Marvel has not been able to come to satisfactory terms to bring the characters into The First Avenger: Captain America. Casting needs to be complete to stay on a June shoot schedule. Here's what 2nd AD Joe Kean had to say: "Sam really wanted to be a part of this. Since we really wanted to stress an International team for The Invaders and Union Jack is out, this seemed the natural direction to go. Australia is still closely tied to the UK and who doesn't want to hear that accent?" DogsOfWar-If Union Jack is tied up, this seems like a home run to me. I'd rather they stay true to the comics but this is the logical next step.
