Response Time: An Original Screenplay/Graphic Novel by BattlinMurdock

Check out the intro to what I'm not sure will end up either a film or graphic novel yet. "1 Girl. 34,500 Cops. And odds are, you'll be the one to find her."

Hey, guys! I'm really excited to put this on the site, as it is something that's currently been in development for a while. It's called Response Time and I'm not sure if I want it to turn out to be a graphic novel or a horror film yet. These are just the first twenty pages, and I'll be honest with you, I probably won't post the entire script once it's completed in order to possibly make it official someday. But I'm interested in what medium you think I should take with it (it's currently written in the style of a regular screenplay, but could easily translate to comic).

The story follows New York Detective Keith Tottle as he begins his hunt for a young woman who has been two months missing and whom he believes is responsible for a series of heinous murders all occurring in one evening. With every officer in New York on the prowl, how does someone like Vicki Dully keep slipping through the cracks? A tale of atmospheric suspense and mystery, I hope you have fun reading Response Time.

*Note: the following contains strong language, violence, and mature content. It may not be suitable for all readers.

Response Time (Cutting)

The inspiration comes from the fact that I kind of wanted a horror story with not just a female "movie monster," but one that takes place in a city instead of an urban or suburban area. It's been a blast to write and I'm very excited to finish up on it.

Hey man, read the first few pages an like what im reading so far but not sure if i want to continue on not knowing how it will play out! Haha but so far idk if i see this as much as a graphic novel feel as much as something better suited for film. Maybe give an idea of the style of art you would imagine it in? Also, check your email bud, id like to talk to you about a couple creatice ideas and rather it not be so public. Anyways man, again, great imagery for this, i can feel it in my head if that makes sense? Haha, keep up the writing! And if you could help build some hype for my fan fic id much appreciate ot! The best installments are about to come!

Nice. Have you ever considered both?
You know, like a tie-in graphic novel to the movie. \

So cool.

Exactly what i was thinking as far as why i felt it was better suited for film! Nailed it! There really are all of these subtle moments that unless you wanted a really dramatic feeling graphic novel, is just better suited for an actress to convey. Plus, the lighting in these dark alleyways is something i think would translate much better on film. Artists can only do so much, but a film gives us exactly what the director/creator wants the audience to feel, everything from camera angle, lighting-extended scenes with no cuts ya know? I feel film is much more artistic than people give it credit for, this is something i can see you would want done in a very precise way.

Thanks guys!

To answer jpfola's question, the film would follow Dully as a single-night spree-killer. I've only worked on this script a little bit, because I've been writing a new one I'm hoping to shoot next spring.
