With Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 finale airing tonight at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, executive producer Jeff Bell spoke on where S.H.I.E.L.D. stands, the challenges they've faced, and why he thinks Skye is "doomed either way." Check it out!

With Gonzales dead, Bobbi captured, and Skye caught up between Inhumans and S.H.I.E.L.D., Executive Producer Jeff Bell sat down with Comic Book, and told us everything we need to know before we go into the season finale. He first started by giving us a heads up on where everyone’s head are as we all prep to watch this finale. “What we tried to set up is Coulson coming in from the cold mostly brought the two element of S.H.I.E.L.D. together for the first time all season. Coulson made peace with Gonzales and his council, and bad things happened to Gonzales that they don’t know about. For all they know, Gonzales went Rogue and caused this whole thing to happen.”

After that, he then focused on Skype and revealed how she plays a big part in the series going forward. “I think the piece you mentioned that key for us is Skye. Here’s a young woman who’s torn between her surrogate family of Coulson and May, and her biological parents, Cal and Jiaying. In many ways, this season has been about that, her S.H.I.E.L.D. family versus her real family.” He then continued. “On one hand, you get the dream come true of I get to meet my mom and my dad, and then dad ends up being fairly mentally unstable. Mom, who at first offers everything she would want not only as a loving mother but also as someone who holds knowledge about the Inhumans, about the world that she comes from, about her powers and her gifts, I think that’s all very attractive to her.”

With Skye stuck between her Inhumans family and her S.H.I.E.L.D. family, she has to make a choice. Jeff Bell then reveals what position he think Skye is in, and the things he think will affect the decision. “Jiaying built this Inhumans community in the middle of nowhere to be left alone. She was cut apart by people who called themselves S.H.I.E.L.D., even if they were Hydra. So I think any feelings she has about this group showing up at her doorstep are well earned. That doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s going to behave well, but we tried to give her and Cal a parents love for their child.” Shortly after that, he revealed why he thinks Skye is doomed moving forward in the series. “So I think people understand that, which puts Skye in a real bind because Coulson and May, as her surrogate parents, have also gone out of their way to treat her well. So I think she’s doomed either way. And by “doomed,” I mean that in a really exciting storytelling kind of way.”

With Season 3 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. announced, feel free to check out the first official synopsis found HERE. What decision do you think Skye will make? Also, how do you think things will turn out after tonight’s episode? Will you tune into it? Before you head out, take the poll, and then sound off below with your thoughts!

I've only seen the 1st season of Shield and I did not like it at all. I heard season 2 is where it's at but I thought the most interesting character in season one was Skye.

I think I might give season 2 a shot, since everybody say's it's far better than the 1st season.

This season has been goddamned fantastic right from the get-go. From the pilot with Absorbing Man (which the effects were beautifully done), right up to last week's great setup for the finale, it's been a hell of a ride. Right now, there's honestly nothing I look forward to more in the MCU than the next episode of SHIELD. I can't wait to get home from work, pack a nice fat bong bowl of my new Sour Diesel, and settle in for some serious ass-kicker-y.

Definitely stronger than arrow this season.. And I'd say it's a toss up between flash and SHIELD. Flash has been great but it's had some slow episodes and iris is a bit annoying but that should change now.

I find myself more excited about AOS than Arrow which is something I never thought would happen...ever.

@GizmoEl - I don't really compare them because really they are completely different. Flash is very formulaic but well written and very fun. Every episode has the same arc and is written so anyone can just jump in. AOS you need to watch the whole season. I would recommend to anyone wanting to jump in get the free week of Hulu+ and watch the whole series. It will really help you figure out what is going on. That said They are my 2 favorite shows every week. I am very excited for the finally. That said Arrow has definitely taken a step back this season. I felt like there has been a lot of writing holes and contrived drama.

The first seasons is even better then people give it credit for it sets up so much for this season and the villains that will more than likely show up next season.
That band wagon is about to get real heavy

I loved the whole first season. I jumped on the bandwagon right from the pilot. The Mike Anderson character really pulled me in long before he became Deathlok. Plus...Skye...she's so goddamned hot.

Watching S1 with the knowledge of what's up with Ward and what the future holds for Skye and especially Raina... so much fun!

@KingCold420

And in my experience it really helps being able to set your own pace in which to watch the show, which likely means not only one episode a week, or rather every few weeks with all the breaks S1 had.

I can't believe the amount of haters this show has its clearly the best comic book show we have. Truly superior writing going on

Well, I really like other CBTV shows as well (I think Flash for example has a consistently stronger first season than AoS had on first viewing). But yeah, the hate AoS received and sometimes continues to recieve is a bit over the top.
GizmoEl

@Trickwil you're absolutely right. The contrived drama that Arrow suffers from is a side effect of the network it's being aired on. The vocal fans push for more romance and the producers happily shoehorn it into the episodes. I'm a bit worried that the producers will try to play around with Caitlin and Barry hooking up on the Flash since they've had a few moments so far in the series.. While I don't think I'd mind it much, I hope they don't go the Oliver/Felicity route. I was worried that SHIELD would suffer from the same thing (it's on a different network but there is a very minor but vocal fanbase yearning for romance between either Skye and Ward or Fitzsimmons), but it seems like the actors entertain it on social media but it isn't shoehorned that holds the episode back from it's potential.
