Superman Returns: Director's Cut Campaign

Flicksnews.net has gotten behind a campaign for a director's cut of Bryan Singer's Superman Returns. Notes the site, "Singer stated back when the film was released that the original cut was 2 hours and 45 minutes before the film was trimmed for its theatrical release.

A number of significant scenes ended up on the cutting room floor such as the Return to Krypton sequence, scenes with Ben Hubbard and Martha Kent, Kal Penn's character's dialogue was cut, an opening sequence with comic book opening similar to Superman: The Movie's opening, Clark adjusting back to life on earth, young Clark growing up, and lots of dialogue and extended scenes that supposedly added to the film and gave it better pacing and beats." For more information, go to the official site for the campaign, HERE. Check out the trailer they've put together:

I am in the enormous minority of people that actually enjoyed this movie.
WeakMusic4Thomas - 11/12/2009, 9:53 AM
the movie as a whole sucks
but so many parts of it were alright
it comes off more as a date movie, and Bosworth was not a good Louis Lane at all
this directors cut would be cool, and I think all movies should come out with one eventually
I own the original cut and would definately buy the directors cut
its like Daredevil, I always liked the movie but felt it lacked something. But the directors cut was amazing and made me gain a whole new appreciation for the movie.
realfirstavenger - 11/12/2009, 10:01 AM
I've always said that it was good, but it should have been great.
EdGross - 11/12/2009, 10:01 AM
I'd like to see these deleted scenes because they sound pretty interesting but the movie was crap and too long anyway so I'm not sure if I could punish myself by sitting through an even longer version! :p
JoshW - 11/12/2009, 10:03 AM
I don't think that this cut is going to be any better. The movie was lame & it will always be lame.
mativ16 - 11/12/2009, 10:05 AM
@weakmusic4thomas: yes you are lol

not sure if a different cut well change my opinon at all, the movie had a been there done that feel i can't back up. even without the kid, with a powered villian, some actual fights and a better ending, this film will always feel like a second rate "donner vision".

trying to tie into previous continuity was a terrible idea, and those who say thats why they love it utterly confuses me. im glad some people liked it. i had to see it twice because after the first viewing i was so underwelmed and dissipointed that i even went the next day to give it an honest shot. still nothing. home video third times the charm... still nothing. sorry kids but returns felt like a 2 hour missed chance to do something great. want to "re-do" superman 3 mr singer? you could have followed that route with better results than this if you really tried. no excuse
Boogie138 - 11/12/2009, 10:07 AM
People complain about two things typically when talking about Superman Returns.

a. Superman is the father to a bastard child.
b. The movie is a rehash of Superman: The Movie

Neither of these things bother me.
WeakMusic4Thomas - 11/12/2009, 10:07 AM
haha that vid more or less showed the only bits in the film worth watching .. i love superman films but this 1 was the worset way to do superman i mean did he even throw a punch in it ??? ahh im guna go read some comics and cry a bit .. ( not on the comic)
Roscoe182 - 11/12/2009, 10:09 AM
Can I petition for this movie to just be 'cut' in general? I hope Singer gets back with the X-men. Maybe he'd have more control over the characters.
Pym - 11/12/2009, 10:10 AM
So this would mean a longer movie with less action then it had......nahhh im ok :)
teabag - 11/12/2009, 10:21 AM
"People complain about two things typically when talking about Superman Returns.

a. Superman is the father to a bastard child.
b. The movie is a rehash of Superman: The Movie

I think the main complaint is Superman didn't fight anyone. There was no action. While annoying, those other things could be overlooked, but Superman not pounding the crap out of something is completely unacceptable.

" I hope Singer gets back with the X-men. Maybe he'd have more control over the characters. "

Though completely unlikely, Singer ought to take an X-Men forever approach, and pick up right after X-2.
kenny38606 - 11/12/2009, 10:22 AM
I loved this movie from beginning to end. I still don't see why people dont like it...?

i love this film but the lack of a threatening villain and action kinda offset it...and dude...the bastard kid is something that hasnt even been really touched on much on comics (cept for elseworlds etc)...so singer really mucked up with that arc of him being a dad...the lois stuff sucked bollocks...and dude...the whole clark-lois factor was negated...i mean marrying her off...the love triangle and child scenario sucked arse but still i loved the rest of it
Anil Rickly - 11/12/2009, 10:44 AM
Nothing can save this movie, unless the director's cut has Doomsday or Batman in it. That would be sick.
Azrael83 - 11/12/2009, 10:45 AM
I also liked the movie. I certainly thought it could have been better, but by no means did I come away thinking it "sucked". Sure Bosworth was a less than adequate Lois, the whole bastard son thing was a bit too far off the beaten mythos, and he didn't litterally throw down with another super powered baddie, but aside from that the rest of the movie was alright. Brandon Routh was perfect for the role. There still was an adequate amount of action even though it wasn't of the mano'a'mano type. Overall I think it was just ok, but should have been better. That to me means that the entire concept deserves to be revisited, not scrapped. Routh should without a doubt be brought back in ANY future film in this franchise. I'd get another actress to play Lois, try to find a decent way to undo that Superman's son mess, and bring on Doomsday.

Plan "B" would be to reboot it using Routh.
niknik - 11/12/2009, 10:48 AM
cheese is the greatest weapon of all !
FrankCastle1 - 11/12/2009, 10:55 AM
kenny38606, I have more complaints than just "a" and "b". I have the same sentiments as teabag. I want to see an ALL NEW Superman and that includes excluding ROUTH! I HATE with a seething hatred, Singerman's Superman.
Phinehas - 11/12/2009, 10:58 AM
BS @ I thought this was in the BLU-RAY copy i got!!!

Though [frick] it, it was with the original SUPERMAN movie, so cant complain too much!! : D

I'll [frick]ing buy it!!! Sweet!!! ; )

LEEE777 - 11/12/2009, 11:04 AM
@WARNOODLE-

The acting was terrible:
-BRANDON ROUTH could have been replaced with a cardboard cutout.
-KATE BOSWORTH showed NONE of the qualities of Lois Lane that we all know (i.e. extremely confident, courage, wiseass, a bit quirky...)
-KEVIN SPACEY while normally a fantastic actor managed to make super-genius Lex Luthor look like a moron, not the future President (which i believe to be the script and directors' fault given Spaceys' track record).

The plot sucked:
-Real Estate? An uninhabitable Kryptonite Continent that Superman won't be able to live on? The man responsible for nearly every technological advancement in that "universe" launches an untested crystal wrapped in Kryptonite into the ocean.....that's his plan for world domination?

The storyline was ridiculous:
-Why the world doesn't need Superman? Superman has a son? Superman is an absentee Dad? Superman is a creepy peeping tom? Superman can lift a Kryptonite infused island? Superman can't stop himself from getting stabbed?

Plus:
-no action
-horrible script

That's why i didn't like it, i'd love to hear why you did...
Talontd - 11/12/2009, 11:05 AM
SUPERMAN VS DOOMSDAY = EPIC!!!

LEEE777 - 11/12/2009, 11:09 AM
The film was a pile of steaming hot kak!
TheGlove - 11/12/2009, 11:13 AM
LEEE@ NO ROUTH!!!!! :)
teabag - 11/12/2009, 11:17 AM
I'd watch a director's cut. I was an okay movie, I think I was mostly disappointed because he deserves better
thwhtGuardian - 11/12/2009, 11:18 AM
I actually liked it. It wasn't great but it was watchable.
Michael Galusick - 11/12/2009, 11:24 AM
No amount of additional footage could make Superman Returns watchable.

Talontd: excellent synopsis of the problems with the film. May I add the lack of confrontation between Superman and Luthor as another problem with the film? The two barely appear on screen together until the climactic fight scene.
comicb00kguy - 11/12/2009, 11:35 AM
There were elements in the film that were very well done, but so much of it wasn't that it was so hard to watch and even have it tie into the original movies.

And for godsakes! hasn't Lex Luther been done to death! move on with another villain good lord!
Azrael83 - 11/12/2009, 11:35 AM
ROUTH ROUTH ROUTH!!! ; D

He's the perfect SUPERMAN!!

As much as it had its [frick]ed up moments, SMALLVILLE [frick]ed the lot up!!

As much as i like SMALLVILLE, WELLING wont work on the big screen!!

ROUTH!!!! ; D
LEEE777 - 11/12/2009, 11:37 AM
LEEE@ Neither is ever gonna happen :)
teabag - 11/12/2009, 11:38 AM
I am also in that minority Weakmusic! I loved it..despite admitting that some things should have been done differently. A directors cot would be nice:)
RorMachine - 11/12/2009, 11:41 AM
@COMICB00KGUY-

Thanks, but i think i would call that last showdown ANTI-climactic!!!

I can understand some people liking the film just b/c it's Superman on-screen, that's their opinion. But I can't understand how they can be oblivious to it's MANY faults.
Talontd - 11/12/2009, 11:42 AM
@LEEE-

I'm with TEA, you'll never see either of them on the big screen as SUPES.

.....but i personally wouldn't mind WELLING. ;-)
Talontd - 11/12/2009, 11:44 AM
As long as Singer doesnt come back then I'm certain that we'll get a Superman movie that is at least a million times better! :)

JoshW - 11/12/2009, 11:56 AM
haha, well Talontd that just goes to show you that taste is all relative. You say Routh gave a bad performance? I say he has more talent in his little finger that smell the fart Welling has in his entire whiny body. Sure Returns had its faults, what doesn't? I just liked it for what it was. I loved the original and Im glad Singer decided to pay homage to it..maybe he was a bit too reverential, but it worked for me. I also like the story and the performances(minus Bosworth) but some more action would have been nice..didn't ruin the movie. I think if Singer had the chance to do a sequel then he would have turned everything up to 11. He was just trying to establish new groundwork to build from so he was probably a bit subdued.
RorMachine - 11/12/2009, 12:00 PM
Talontd @ That says it all man if you like WELLING for the big screen!! Lmfao!! : D

JOSH @ Hell yeah, can live without Singer but ROUTH'S a must!

; )
LEEE777 - 11/12/2009, 12:01 PM
Exactly @ ROR!!
LEEE777 - 11/12/2009, 12:02 PM
Besides the fact Superman didn't get to punch anything, the biggest problem I have with the movie is the fact that Luthor nearly stabs him to death and there is no comeuppance; there is no moment that brings Superman and Luthor back together again. That's just bad drama.
EdGross - 11/12/2009, 12:11 PM
The only way this would work is if superman actually threw a punch. The thing that makes me laugh is singer said he would go all wraith of khan on the second one. So I am just curious on what he would of done with the film.
luecypher - 11/12/2009, 12:14 PM
I might buy this.

Here is my opinion of the film: It was a solid movie in its own right. It had good acting (for the most part, you know who I'm talking about that didn't), great cinematography/special effects, etc.

What it wasn't was a good SUPERMAN movie. It wasn't faithful to the comics, and changed many things we all know and love from the mythos. Superman's kid, Lois as a super bitch, real estate tycoon Lex (which could be classified with the Donner films), no action that Superman should have, etc.

Routh for Superman

Welling for The Fog 2
InTylerWeTrust82 - 11/12/2009, 12:26 PM
LEE: Not sure about Routh...I think that a new actor is needed to seperate the next movie from the awful Superman Returns!
JoshW - 11/12/2009, 12:37 PM
the ONLY two problems I had with superman returns are:

1. The kid- saw this as an unnecessary dynamic unless he later finds out it's not his..
and
2. the crew neck- I thought it made him look less majestic and petite then the classic neckline

to me if those two things were not in the movie it would have made for a great START..
spiderman1985 - 11/12/2009, 12:40 PM
Another thing, comic fans/fanboys(whatever you want to call us!) may be in a minority liking Returns, but critically you will be hard pushed to find a review of the movie that isn't glowing! Now I know what your gonna say, "What do critics know" right? Well, they know good movies thats what! Or at least, they are supposed to know. In fact I find that critics are generally HARDER on these types of movies than the fans are. I just always found that interesting.
RorMachine - 11/12/2009, 12:49 PM
sweet, more dialogue. that's what this movie needed for sure.
deathmetalbrian - 11/12/2009, 12:52 PM

I like Returns, except I have a couple problems with it. Definitely the damn kid. Unless they utilize him as a Bizarro implanted into Lois' uterus, get rid of him. Pointless. Lois was a problem as well. How could she not know that the kid was Supes? Did she forget that she had sex with him when he was powered down in Superman 2? Also, Kate Bosworth was an unlikable character. I just couldn't stand when she was on screen. Lastly, Lex was somewhat of a let down as the villain. Superman has all these powers, and yet again, he's outdone by Kryptonite and a land scheme. Give Lex the powersuit and have a duke it out with Supes. I would like to see a fight like we always see in the comics. Mongul, Cyborg, Doomsday, Metallo, Parasite, Toyman...er maybe not Toyman, Braniac, ERADICATOR! There's a crapload of villains that they could utilize, but yet again, we get Lex Luthor for a fourth time. I know he's Supes ultimate nemesis, but give us some more flavor.

Singer's extended version of Superman Returns might be good, but it's still going to suffer from the afformentioned problems. I have all of the other movies and I would probably buy it, but I think it's about time Superman fans get a movie we can be proud of that wasn't from 3 decades ago.
Tobuttica - 11/12/2009, 12:57 PM
I liked the movie also except for the Kryptonite island and the lack of action. I expect we will get another Supes movie considering the legal issues and I hope they keep Routh.
juggy4711 - 11/12/2009, 1:11 PM
I liked Superman Returns i even had a tear when superman was falling i was like shit is he going to die ... :-)

And Routh was good... and i think he could be even better if they just let superman [frick] someone up ... sweet jesus let him hit somebody
thegreek - 11/12/2009, 1:15 PM
i didnt see any thing new, most of them scenes were in the 2 disc dvd that i have lol

I would love for the movie to get released. Its a real shame that Singer wont be directing a sequel to this.
akthunder - 11/12/2009, 2:01 PM
I think Returns was a good drama movie, but NOT a good Action/Superhero movie.
I liked it though.
NightAvenger4 - 11/12/2009, 2:04 PM
Ed, nice find!

Singer is such a prick! why do all that footage and then bring it out long after the film flops, dont let him near Supes again!

Reboot all the way, start from fresh!
BigNick - 11/12/2009, 2:20 PM
how about a petition to make a good superman movie.

:-P - Hey, think you can delete that SUPER WIDE pic up there, it makes the thread such a pain in the @ss to read. Pllllleeeeaaasssssseeeee!

@ROR-

Haha! Well I guess your right, it's all a matter of opinion! Like i've said before, i DON'T think putting WELLING on the big screen is a good idea for the FRANCHISE....just for me! But if your having a hard time finding some bad reviews i'm happy to help :-D

The New Yorker - Anthony Lane

Picture my disappointment as I realized that, for all the pizzazz of Superman Returns, its global weapon of choice would not be terrorism, or nuclear piracy, or dirty bombs. It would be real estate. What does Warner Bros. have in mind for the next installment? Superman overhauls corporate pension plans? Luthor screws Medicare?

----------------------------

Chicago Sun-Times - Roger Ebert

When the hero, his alter ego, his girlfriend and the villain all seem to lack any joy in being themselves, why should we feel joy at watching them?

----------------------------

The New York Times - Manohla Dargis

It's hard to see what the point is beyond the usual grandiosity that comes whenever B-movie material is pumped up with ambition and money.

----------------------------

Film Threat - Pete Vonder Haar

I wanted to like Superman Returns, but Singer and company are so concerned about doing justice to Superman’s past, they fail to generate much interest in what, if any, future the franchise might have.

You are correct tho, for the most part the reviews are good. But really, you liked the Kryptonite Island? The same island that made him weak enough to get stabbed, but was somehow able to later lift it up and throw it into the sun? C'mon man, that just doesn't make any damn sense!!! And if the film was so well recieved why aren't they making a sequel? I think the answer to that question is that they know they got lucky at the box office because EVERYONE was anticipating this movie, and it let down most of us.

Talontd - 11/12/2009, 2:46 PM
Louis is a boys name realfirstavenger.
harrisonefreeman - 11/12/2009, 3:00 PM
Iv explained the island thing so many times I really just cant do it again! Please dig out older articles!:)..ok, one more time. The island lifting was something called "the last ditch". It happens in movies all the time. The hero makes one final attempt using the last ounce of his strength to save the world/his friends/a dog..whatever! In this case, Supes absorbed enough of the suns rays to propel him to maximum strength and yes, lifted a damn Kryptonite island! Its a stretch..so many things are. And don't forget, it DID kill him..he just came back to life:)

Hey, I never said there wren't bad reviews, just said they were in the minority. No sequel happened because despite the fact that Returns made a packet, it was still considered a box office let down..I guess they were expecting a Titanic size pay out.
RorMachine - 11/12/2009, 3:09 PM
The only thing I liked about the movie was the plane crash scene, it's the only moment when you feel like your watching a Superman movie. If the cut has similar content it might be worth watching it, otherwise let’s just forget it.
Verdugo - 11/12/2009, 3:10 PM
Talontd - They were expecting more money to be made but if i am correct they made just a little profit and well if they can't make a profit off it then who is going to pay to make another one...

Also if i listened to every stupid film critic then i would never ever watch a movie not unless it is a foreign film ... or there is no violence and i have to really think about the movie and the characters...

Honestly if the movie is entertaining which i believe SR was that is what counts ... We watch movies to escape reality not to see something and say that is impossible... Granted Hollywood does go overboard sometimes .. I.E Transporter 2 car flip to disarm a bomb and then land perfectly back on 4 wheels ... But it doesn't go beyond what i am getting at ESCAPE from reality and just to enjoy a movie... Plus Ebert is just a big douche bag.. ;-)
thegreek - 11/12/2009, 3:15 PM

Talontd: Good find - "I wanted to like Superman Returns, but Singer and company are so concerned about doing justice to Superman’s past, they fail to generate much interest in what, if any, future the franchise might have." - that review completely sums up my feelings towards Superman Returns! :) How are you finding Uncharted 2 man?
JoshW - 11/12/2009, 3:35 PM
Well, none of the those trimmed scenes were on the special features DVD, so why not? If DareDevil can have a Director's Cut, so can Superman! I want to see it.
EditNinja - 11/12/2009, 3:41 PM
I'm with Talontd here. SR was just bad. Its indefensible and doesn't deliver for the aforementioned reasons. Comparing it to lesser films or only to big grosses doesn't justify it as a good "SUPERMAN" movie. Successful grossing movie? Sure. Does that reflect quality storytelling? Not really. Only that people enjoyed watching it. Or, that people were really anxious to see how a new movie treated the Man of Steel, ignoring the screaming flaws in the process. I did at first, until the excitement of seeing a Supes movie settled and I began to think about what I had just watched. Then I got really pissed!
Phinehas - 11/12/2009, 4:02 PM
Ror01

You're my boy, and I know you love this flick, but I didn't... and neither did many critics. At least states-side. In fact, it wasn't hard to find a less than "glowing" one at all. Some critics are paid to give good reviews (Peter Travers I'm looking at you). But here is a very reputable critic's view of the film. Fat bastard and curmudgeon, Roger Ebert.

Yeah, I don't really listen to Ebert, he [frick]ing hates everything! There's being critical, then there's being a miserable git! I go by the Empire boys here...I don't always agree with them, but its few and far between that they will steer me wrong..and they are not easy to please either..they only gave Wolverine 2 stars..the nerve! Anyway, here's their review of Returns..and bare in mind, I didn't think it was THAT good!

"...this is the finest popular entertainment since the Rings trilogy closed. Superman doesn’t fly — he soars. -Ian Nathan"

Or as he is known in other circles... Mrs. Bryan Singer. FIVE STARS!!! You're shitting me?! I know Ebert hates a lot of stuff, Lovitz character "The Critic" was based largely on him (pardon the pun), but this reeks of payola! Like it or not, you would have to agree putting SR in the same sentence as the rings trilogy is a fkn bad joke. Unless of course that sentence is "Superman Returns is a horrid shitfest in comparrison to the rings trilogy."

hahahhaha ^_^ I'm sorry Ror. I didn't mean to explode at you. I'm still reeling from that five stars!

I know you had some issues with the movie, even though you dug it a bunch. Man alive! Five Stars! Is this on a five star scale? Mr. Ian Nathan... step into my office!
BillyBlack - 11/12/2009, 4:43 PM
hah, well, i did say I didn't think it was as good as he did. But the pay off thing, cmon dude, Empire isn't some Sunday tabloid, those boys shoot from the hip. If a movie gets a bad review does that mean its because the producers didn't send them any free stuff? Some people really do love that movie.
RorMachine - 11/12/2009, 4:45 PM
Well i liked it.
KillerOfSaints - 11/12/2009, 5:31 PM
If there is any film out there that doesnt deserve the directors cut treatment is this movie.
Its just going to be more of super man been emotional
this movie just made super man seem like he need help from himself.
HR - 11/12/2009, 6:09 PM
I liked Superman Returns, regardless of the emo superman. I would love to see the Singer Cut!
Jimdlux - 11/12/2009, 7:34 PM
@Jimdlux- My thoughts exactly...
Magicfingers - 11/12/2009, 8:24 PM
But aren't we all critics? I mean, if you see a movie and then talk about its good points and bad points your critiquing it! Some people just get paid for it. Granted, some are pretentious idiots that wouldn't know a good movie if it cock slapped them, but there are some out there that have a head oin their shoulders..I guess its down to finding one that you generally agree with. I certain;y don't allow myself to be influenced too much by critics. I mean, The Fourth Kind was absolutely slated and I really enjoyed it!
RorMachine - 11/12/2009, 8:48 PM
I can't watch this movie, cut or not cut. It's nothing more than a shameless scene for scene remake of the first Superman. Singer all but admits in interviews his love for the first Donner film led to this film being what it is. Right down tot he fukcing lines themselves...

"Statistically speaking, it's still the safest way to travel"...

Singer should enter the Thunderdome with Master-Blaster and become food.
gtrman - 11/12/2009, 9:12 PM
At 1:11 in the trailer, you can see the unedited flying cables hanging off of young Clark.
gtrman - 11/12/2009, 9:14 PM
I agree with both Ror and gtrman. I loved the first two Supes movies. Returns was a good homage. Maybe I liked it for the nostalgia factor. Routh does need to stay. He embodies the same qualities as Reeves in making Superman a convincing enough nerd to make Clark believable. In the comics Supes always looks like a huge body builder with glasses.
Upupandaway - 11/12/2009, 9:19 PM

Phinehas - 11/12/2009, 10:30 PM
I would like to see this extended version or Superman Returns. However, the very elements that ruin the story and interpratation of the characters will still stand and invalidate it for me.
JYCowboy - 11/12/2009, 10:50 PM
Errrr, you can see these clips on the extras on a normal "Superman returns" dvd.... So whats the point in buying a another dvd of the movie just for that?

Some of you wants welling for the next superman. Well, have you seen it now? Now! Not 10 year ago. His look was perfect for a young clark,i admit it. Now please look really at his face, with attention. He doesn't fits the role of superboy no more. And at the same time doesn't fits superman's role. I remember 8 year ago me thinking "ehy! This guy in the next years will be perfect for supes". Now i don't think so. In italy we would say he is "neither meat or fish". He is in a middle way. He is in good company with michael j. Fox or ralph macchio. You know, people grown but with the same "babyface" for several years. Routh has a more authentic and regular face. He doesn't give the impression of a baby in an adult body. And if you see a pic of brandon now,3 years after the movie, you'll find that his look can only go to the better. Ok,english is not my native language and i hate google translate. Hoping you have understand my point.

the movie was brutal....how much worse do they want to make it?
AmoriZep - 11/13/2009, 6:49 AM

The movie was BAD I cant see How Sweetcheeks Singer's cut would make it any better. I think Superman having a bastard child stays pretty much in line with his character if you really think about it. Clark lies all the time to protect his secret i.d. then he'll come off like this guy with exteremly high morals....LOL. Lois was bland no pepp what so ever...Lois of Smallville fame gives a better preformance. Let's just reboot keep Routh he's a decent actor and he's big enough for the part. I know some of you guys talk about his build the guy is 6'1"-6'2"220-225lbs and fit he's big enough unlike Welling. Welling isnt Superman first off he cant wear the skin tight uniform his body for a lack of a better word is well ....LACKING. He's a border line actor I mean come on he's barely pulling off the Clark Kent. Welling is a network t.v. guy that's it so lets get the movie together.Start by resigning Routh bring in Darkseid as the villian get rid of Sweetcheeks... that's I got for now.

I don't agree with alot of you. I've been a Superman Fan for years and this movie actually wasn't bad, it was pretty decent. Action, had as much action as Superman 1, acting was good, storyline needed work but was decent again, the only thing I didn't like was the superman son storyline that came out of it. You are now stuck.

Im not a fan of re-boots and I don't think Superman should be rebooted, just make another superman movie.

I do agree that we need another storyline without Lex, lots of Superman stories to pull from.

I do not agree that superman should be darker, superman is a boyscout, superman is honest, superman is a gentleman, he is all those things, just because Wolverine is a little dark, batman is a little dark, hulk is dark doesn't mean you have to change superman to make money.....Write a good story with some action and it will sell.

hahahhah Rorschach01

What can I say. I'm a conspiracy nut! But a SR/LOTR comparrison? Five Stars, at least to me, means that the movie was flawless. No room for improvement. This movie is very far from that. If he said 4.5 stars, I still would've said bullshit. But I would at least respect the opinion a frak of a lot more. I'm not saying Empire is Rolling Stone. But Ian Nathan has made the list as the new Peter Travers, and I'd call shenanigans on any one of his reviews from here on out. Maybe I'm being hard on him. But as a professional critic, he lacked credibility when he refused to acknowledge the less than stellar aspects of the film. Of which there were quite a few. Am I completely full of shit? What do you think?
BillyBlack - 11/13/2009, 11:58 AM
ROUTH was good and he should def get a chance to smack some bad guys around... Com'on if it was an homage to Donner then think guys the next one would be actually FIGHTING invovled...

thegreek - 11/13/2009, 12:34 PM
the movie was shit routh just mimic revee i thought it was supose to be a different movie not the same superman from 10 years ago. and we need a newer superman and i say welling for superman he could pull it off and i know alot of you know that he could pull it off but ya all think he will do bad since smallville had bad season but thats not his fault is the writer i bet with a good scripit he would make an awsome clark/superman

Wack movie, bad casting and writing for the most part..only good for visuals and nostalgia. Those deleted scenes wont make it much better.
