Superman Returns: Return to Krypton Footage

Although it was filmed off of their TV by a fan, and therefore the quality is not the greatest, this is the "Return to Krypton" sequence filmed but cut by Bryan Singer for Superman Returns.

That was awesome! Why couldn't they(and by they I mean Singer and co) just feature this at the beginning and cut out the kid part at the end?! The "House of El" sign was awesome!
Retardo - 6/12/2011, 9:55 AM
Most uncomfortable space ship, ever!
Jimdlux - 6/12/2011, 10:07 AM
I started to watch, then stopped. I wanna watch it on my 50'!!!!
billnye69 - 6/12/2011, 10:12 AM
I dunno why they would cut that scene.
jimoakley666 - 6/12/2011, 10:27 AM
That was a very creepy but superior scene. I wonder why it was cut?
ar8898 - 6/12/2011, 10:34 AM
They should have put this in the movie. I would rather have seen this than most of the content in the theatrical release. What a crappy film!
darthstern - 6/12/2011, 10:42 AM
uhhh didnt the planet blow up?? it was cut because it was a useless scene. how did he get the ship?
Hellsing - 6/12/2011, 10:46 AM
honestly its not like this scene would have made difference to final out come of the movie. It was just plain boring at times. I have no problem with character driven stories when there engaging and the story in Returns wasn't engaging at all.
leeholland - 6/12/2011, 10:53 AM
@darthstern

He got the ship from the fortress.
sonofsamadams - 6/12/2011, 11:00 AM
Yeah, they should've left this in the movie. Just like how Lucas should've left the scene where Yoda lands on Dagobah in Episode 3.
HeadlessJensen - 6/12/2011, 11:30 AM
Dang man, they should've left that in. I can't say if it would've made the movie better, but it definitely would've been a start. Excellent scene.
mbomb22 - 6/12/2011, 11:53 AM
Is the anthology coming to regular DVD or just Blu-ray?
naterator - 6/12/2011, 12:00 PM
GRRRRRR that was great! this should have opened the movie. why it was cut is beyond my understanding...

@ DARTHSTERN .... the plaet Krypton DID blow up.... that was only just a piece of the planet that he had found....and where else would he get the ship if not for the FORTRESS of SOLITUDE???

ALmighty1080 - 6/12/2011, 12:17 PM
singer really sucks at controlling a budget, that prolly cost a lot to make and he cuts it all. He even built that pod too
Teraman182 - 6/12/2011, 12:20 PM
that was pointless and crap, just like the movie
HarrisonBergeron - 6/12/2011, 1:05 PM
Keeping that scene could have worked really well to explain why Superman did not die from exposure to the Kryptonite continent. Surviving exposure to a whole planet of Kryptonite could have explained his tolerance later in the movie.
thepurplepiledriver - 6/12/2011, 1:06 PM
Can't this movie just go away. Bring on the man of steel
ngu13 - 6/12/2011, 1:44 PM
why is this not on the blue ray deleted scenes ....where is it
stopdropandroll - 6/12/2011, 2:08 PM
This may be a stupid question, but if Superman's power comes from the yellow sun and he goes back to his homeworld where the sun is/was a different color, I would think that would revert him back to a normal Krytonion without special abilities. If so, would Krytonite still weaken him since he has no powers to affect to begin with?
Akercocke - 6/12/2011, 2:42 PM
This just confirms how lost Singer was. This was a great scene.
marvel72 - 6/12/2011, 3:15 PM
should of kept that scene in superman returns,it wouldn't of made it any worse than it already was.
cwell510 - 6/12/2011, 4:17 PM
I agree, this scene should have been left int the final cut of the film. It couldn't have hurt the movie anymore then how incredibly boring it already was. Would've added some dimension to the character to say the least.
LP4 - 6/12/2011, 4:33 PM
Wow, still a whole lot of NOTHING.

Singer blows. Not a single action scene in the entire [frick]ing film.

most boring CBM ever conjured by man
EditNinja - 6/12/2011, 5:35 PM
This guy sneaked a video camera into his home theatre.

This scene is already better than 'the kid' storylines.
Ancar - 6/12/2011, 6:05 PM
That's a great scene. I want to see a complete version of Superman Returns someday.
homer4858 - 6/12/2011, 6:46 PM
@ stopdropandroll also, it was stated in the movie that astronomers had found the remains of krypton. which could only mean it was not in its original place, theres no way they could of found it otherwise. and the planet was covered in kryptonite, its the fact that its radioactive that hurts him. the yellow sun provides his powers and yes his powers are nullified when hes near it, but the kryptonite is deadly to him anywhere.
mastarockafella - 6/12/2011, 9:13 PM
I think this is better in the big screen. Singer should have left it in the movie. He should have deleted the scene when Superman is eves dropping on Lois. That's invasion of privacy.
Knightstalker - 6/12/2011, 9:34 PM
^^^Singer should have just deleted the entire movie.
Rockstar96 - 6/12/2011, 9:35 PM
Wow that was awesome! They should've added that that scene!
LP4 - 6/13/2011, 12:59 AM
People this scene wasn't even very good. It was boring and drawn-out. Singer was truly lost.

He's an idiot.

@Knightstalker- Thank you my friend ;D you are RIGHT good sir!

@CaptainProg- The Donner universe needs to finally end. I agree with you there.
dbatman - 6/13/2011, 1:15 AM
I think this scene has more advantages than disadvantages: For one, it's worth $2million; it gives the movie a grander scale; we know why Clark crash landed on earth; because we saw Clark's high tech ship, when Lex Luthor said, "I have advance alien technology thousands of years beyond anyone can throw at me", we would have believed him; When superman saw the the Krypton island and has an angry look on his eyes, it would have been more powerful, because we know it reminded him of the sight he saw in the dead krypton, but now its here on earth, in a deeper sense it tells him that his new home is in the process as well.

Although it should have reminded him of his experience with hundreds of kryptonite, he should have tried to feel kryptonite radiation on the island before he landed on it. SO yeah it made superman stupider.
AnungUnRama - 6/13/2011, 4:28 AM
Why t' hell is that scene not on my two disc special edition?

I would love them to release a director's cut (or how ever it may be called) where they integrate that and the other deleted scenes. Yes t would make the movie even longer but since it is to be seen at home (and most likely by fans of the movie) it would be ok. Best would be to do a disc version where you can chose to either play the theatrical release, the deleted scenes (separately) or the movie including all (former) deleted scenes. That's the best option anyway. I've got a DVD where that is possible and thought that it sucked that possibility was'n given when I watched my SR special edition. Well anyway Singer or who ever is in charge do such a blu ray director's cut. Could include the 3D scene, too. Would be soooo awsome.

P. S.: Wouldn't mind cutting the scenes proving that the boy was Supe's son - alway thought that was the worst part of the movie (or its plot respectively).
hoodedjester - 6/13/2011, 12:13 PM
that was kind of cool but I doubt there would be pieces of it sitting around in space for him to even look at - it's 30 years later
Knightstalker - 6/13/2011, 12:45 PM
It would likely be a debris field orbiting the star much like our own asteroid belt.
Fogs - 6/13/2011, 1:58 PM
I really detested that movie.

And this scene was pointless. Just another loooooooooong boring scene cut from a long and boring movie.

Singer probably found out that cutting this scene off would reduce the possibility of people committing suicide by the end.
Fogs - 6/13/2011, 2:01 PM
^^ Nice well-shortened URL there, pal.

NOT!
Fogs - 6/13/2011, 2:13 PM
yes, very good! The scene still seems pointless, anyway :P
LP4 - 6/13/2011, 2:53 PM
@AklashPahk- Why is it that you're one of the few people here who actually makes sense? You're right- This scene was boring just like the rest of the film.

[frick] you singer, [frick] you dougherty, [frick] you harris and most of all- [frick] you SUPERMAN RETURNS!!!!
niknik - 6/14/2011, 11:36 AM
That scene was worty of inclusion. Singer is a complete buffoon and this is just one more indicator of this fact.
naterator - 6/14/2011, 2:29 PM
I would pay to see the SINGERS FINAL CUT....no footage removed....throw it all in there and send it my way.
Moonwalker1991 - 6/28/2011, 9:50 AM
This clip was in the book. Naturally the book was WAY better than the film. What would have mad the movie better apart from including this as the introduction would have been to remove the whole stupid kid thing, and include more content from the book, such as how LEX arranged the whole thing with Super-man leaving earth in an effort to kill him. Bryan Singer better not touch another comic movie. EVER.
