Man of Steel: Jor-El Goes to the Library

According to an article appearing in the Kane County Chronicle, there was quite a bit of shock when Jor-El of Krypton -- actually actor Russell Crowe -- spent some time at the Batavia Library in Kane.

Library cafe worker Whitney Garwood offered, "It was kind of a shock. I didn't wake up thinking I would see Russell Crowe walk into my work."

States the story, "Crowe has been in the area for the filming of the new Superman movie, Man of Steel. Crowe stars as Superman’s biological father Jor-El in the movie. Filming has been going on in several communities, including Sugar Grove, Aurora and Plano. Garwood said she was working in the back of the cafe when a co-worker called her up front saying she had a sandwich order for Crowe. 'He asked if we had gluten-free, which we didn’t,' Garwood said. 'We thanked him for his business. He was a nice guy. He left a tip in the tip jar.'

"Michele Martzel, the promotional services coordinator at the library, and Batavia Library Director George Scheetz said they walked out on the patio to talk to Crowe. 'Someone in the library said they thought they saw Russell Crowe,' Martzel said. 'Neither of us wanted to bother him, but if we didn’t find out it was true, we’d be kicking ourselves.'"

@Mareado

He (Crowe) is good friends with someone I went to university with and he said something to the effect of not remembering a sober night while he was in town...

The guy I had classes with ended up becoming pretty famous himself (no, we don't keep touch) but he had a part in that Robin Hood flick. There were a couple fights reported I hear when he performed with them in some local pubs. Whether of not Jor El had anything to do with it is speculation.

Crow will do an amazing job....i wonder if they will be introducing dialogue from the kryptonian language in the scenes from krypton or if they are just gonna roll with English on another planet like previous films?

I think it would be super innovative if they did that.

@GUSTO- that library is LITERALLY less than fifteen minutes from my house. ...And I CAN read.

"It's called reading, you know, top to bottom, left to right. A group of words together is called a sentence. Take Tylenol for any headaches, Midol for any cramps."

i feel good that they got a big time actor for jorel now my hopes for them gliding over the origins or not having krypton flashbacks have greatly diminished either that or they are going to have a shit ton of fortress scenes.

Maybe he is at the library to read comic books. My library has quite a few comics so it is a possibility. It would be extremely awesome to go to the library and see Russell Crowe there.
