A Major Character on Heroes Will Die

It seems one of the main characters will meet his/her end this season in Heroes!
The series has been in a decline in ratings since its premiere. The first season held 13.86 million U.S. viewers in 2006-2007, but the third season fell to a mere 7.61 million.

Several additions as well as removals have been made to characters since the first season. With the most recent episode of having Claire Bennett in a girl-on-girl kiss with Gretchen in order to boost ratings, the step wasn't a successful one. Season 4 is only pulling roughly 5.6 million U.S. viewers, and that's not good news for the show.

NBC and the writers are now forced, it seems, to make drastic changes. This involves one of the main characters coming to an end this season. The character has not been revealed by NBC but certain hints have been.

The character is male in the picture below. He may be present or he may not be, but the character is definitely from the original cast.

Whispers68: If this is true and the character is a male from the original cast, I feel it may be Sylar since he is onto bigger and better things("Star Trek"). But this can be a ploy to take attention away from Hiro Nakamura, who has been facing an illness since last season and is said to be dying from time traveling without fully understanding the consequences. Nathan Petrelli has been "killed," but the situation he and Sylar have been entangled in is weird. Mohinder Suresh has been missing from the current season, perhaps it's he.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was Hiro. They made him into such a clown, in recent seasons. I swear, What happened to the guy that cut up Sylar in season 1, and Trapped Adam Munroe in a coffin for all eternity in season 2? Hiro is my favorite character on the show, but they keep bringing him down lower and lower. First they make him into wimpy side character, then they take away his powers, then they give him back powers, then he starts to die when he uses it. This is bullshit. What happened to the show, that I ran home to watch every Monday night?
supermarioworldE - 10/14/2009, 12:12 PM
yeah! Hiro.. but why? his is a valuable power to have. there has to be a twist somewhere.
KeepItReal - 10/14/2009, 12:19 PM
IT'LL BE HIRO'S ASIAN SIDE-KICK, AND I DONT EVEN WATCH THE SHOW!
dellamorte1872 - 10/14/2009, 12:32 PM
Is Mohinder even on the show anymore?I think Sylar has got to go.
kenny38606 - 10/14/2009, 12:46 PM
@ KeepItReal: I agree. I think their just trying to lead us on so we don't figure out who's REALLY going to buy the farm.
BmanHall - 10/14/2009, 12:48 PM
I gotta agree with dellamorte. they wont kill hiro cause they have already told you he's going to die. I figure it'll be the classic bait and switch. I've only watched the first two episodes for this season, but thats what I thought too. it'll be the side-kick (since hiro is asian, sayin he has an asian sidekick is a little redundant. I mean you wouldn't refer to bucky as caps anglo sidekick)
ThoroughbredSteele0 - 10/14/2009, 1:03 PM
I've watched the show from day one and it has gone down hill...FAST! My opinion: they need to get rid of several characters and bring in some new stories and keep them! When they brought in Claire's real mom, the speedy chick and the puppet guy and a few others, it was a good change, but they killed ALL OF THEM OFF!

Claire's story never changes, get rid of her! Parkman's story never changes, get rid of him. I like Hiro in the beginning, but his story is going nowhere. Move on. They need some new blood and keep them around.
ecksmanfan - 10/14/2009, 1:18 PM
@ecksman

I'm right there with you. I felt the puppet guy was interesting. i mean, the guy controls your every movement against your will. You then had the girl who resembles Quicksilver from the comic books, but the network felt it was best to remove them both and yet keep redundant characters...why? Because they were present since season one? I think the ratings have suffered tremendously due to viewers seeing the same thing over and over without much climax...not that the same characters is an issue but the story seems to go nowhere and it creates room for you to lose interest. This new carnival story is boring me already and it just started. They need a change and they need it fast because going from 13.6 million viewers to the current 5.6 million viewers doesn't cut it.
Whispers68 - 10/14/2009, 1:39 PM
I could do without either Sylar, Matt, Nathan, Hiro, Ando or Mohinder. Probably gonne be Ando. If they kill of Bennet I might actually stop watching.

Anyway, there have been so many character deaths and revivals already, I'm not really taking any announcement like that seriously anymore. Hell, Nathan should definetely be dead and gone for a long time now.

All in all I don't think this little stunt will bring more people back to the show than the lame lesbian kiss thing.
Kyos - 10/14/2009, 1:40 PM
Who cares?

Seriously this show has thrown the S lol.
BatmanKnight - 10/14/2009, 1:41 PM
They'll die.. Then come back alive
Imran - 10/14/2009, 1:42 PM
@ Kyos: Hahaha, when is a lesbian kiss thing ever lame? =P
BmanHall - 10/14/2009, 1:49 PM
i bet its the guy with the powers that suck...oh wait, thats everyone on the show
CorndogBurglar - 10/14/2009, 1:49 PM
kill em all.
Keven - 10/14/2009, 1:51 PM
The biggest plot hole in the entire Heroes Universe is that....we saw Noah come back to life by having a Claire's blood injected into him by Suresh. So it's beyond me how that information somehow doesn't get out and revive Nathan and/or cure Hiro. And don't tell me it's not out there, because Mrs. Petrelli knows everything that went on in her company.
WeakMusic4Thomas - 10/14/2009, 1:57 PM
Im with Keven....i agree with him too :P
teabag - 10/14/2009, 2:01 PM
I saw this, didn't think CBM was that interested in HEROES news anymore, well im glad im wrong.

Great stuff @ WHISPERS!! Nothing better than a major DEATH to up the ratings, and the show needs it if their gonna survive! Still luv HEROES though, its no where near a let down than the last season of Smallville, series 8!

Hoping the new series blows us away!! ; D

TEA @ Lmao!!
LEEE777 - 10/14/2009, 2:06 PM
@ WeakMusic4Thomas

Bravo...Just Bravo. "The biggest plot hole in the entire Heroes Universe is that....we saw Noah come back to life by having a Claire's blood injected into him by Suresh."

Want to know why this hasn't been done for Nathan? Because they feel we somehow forget Claire's blood could revive people and the best route to take is bridge this ridiculous story of Nathan and Sylar sharing screen time together. What bothered me the most with this situation, they haven't even allowed time to go by before Sylar began appearing through the memory loss.

Immediately after creating the mental switcheroo, they had Nathan in the last seconds of the episode reflect on the ticking of a clock. I mean, really? Great story telling NBC. Give it maybe seven or so episodes before you have this guy break through the mental switch created by Matt. This show is becoming more lame with each episode
Whispers68 - 10/14/2009, 2:08 PM
Matt is going to die, when Sylar gets his memory back its going down.
Spock - 10/14/2009, 2:10 PM
I was about to give up on Heroes, but I kind of like what the show is doing with Sylar. In his real body, he has no memory of who he was; and in Greg Grunberg's mind, Sylar is trying to force his way out.

The show still needs serious work.

Hiro is very annoying now. I agree with supermarioworld, he needs to go back to the way he was in the first season.
stopdropandroll - 10/14/2009, 2:12 PM
Another thing that annoys me is.....I'm not a saint, but if I were Claire, I'd work as a janitor for a Children's Hospital and at night, I stalk from room to room and inject my super healing blood into every one of them.
WeakMusic4Thomas - 10/14/2009, 2:27 PM
@ WeakMusic4Thomas: Damn, good stuff dude. If that's not helping people, I don't know what is...
BmanHall - 10/14/2009, 2:31 PM
@ Weakmusic4thomas

Peter is doing something along this concept. He's helping others as a paramedic...Claire could be written somehow into helping others with her blood or something of the sort. The loopholes simply overwhelm me when it comes down to really thinking about the direction the writers take each character. Great characters are killed off before their potential. You then have lame characters getting more screen time than they should. I simply find the imbalance a bit funny.
Whispers68 - 10/14/2009, 2:32 PM
Thanks guys, and what's up with that Tattoo guy? What is his power, to be completely vague about what his power is?
WeakMusic4Thomas - 10/14/2009, 2:35 PM
Lets not forget in Season 2, Nathan's injuries from flying Peter out of NYC were healed by the same means HRG was. And Hiro can't die yet. It would screw with the fact that Hiro appeared to Peter in Season 1 from the future and gave the catchy "save the cheerleader, save the world" line. That wasnt a Hiro from the near future, but quite distant (i dont remember if he actually told Peter what time he was from). I agree with the general idea of a refresher. There's nothing wrong with NOT continuing the "Claire/Matt/Petrelli" stories. Create new situations and new characters and move on...hell, that setup makes for a great "bring so-and-so back for an episode or two for a twist!"

Btw, whats with the chick that can see sound as color? And now this color can manifest physically by damaging her wall by playing too hard/loud?? Really?
kickassduke - 10/14/2009, 2:43 PM
I think it's about time for this show to die.. They have already taken everyone's powers away several times and given them back. They have also killed a bunch of people who always seem to come back some other way. It's just gotten ridiculous. You can tell they're just making it all up as they go. This show has become an insult..
HeyVanity - 10/14/2009, 3:17 PM
@ecksmanfan
I agree. They made everyone too powerful in the first season and now they don't know what to do with anyone except take their powers away. It's the same bullshit over and over. Alot of them just need to go.
HeyVanity - 10/14/2009, 3:20 PM
There are so many unanswered questions from the beginning of season 3. It seems like they are beginning to head in a direction where they will finally answer those, like:

1.) Sylar's son Noah in the future
2.) why Sylar was "nicer" in that future
3.) The earth tearing apart
4.) Ando killing Hero

It feels like we're starting to see convergence between that season and this one. Sylar has lost his memory. Samuel is an earth mover. Volume 4 kind of did the same thing in that it was kind of showing how the future from season 1 came to be; ie. how Sylar became president and why the specials were being hunted by the government. I think this volume will connect with volume three in that same sense.

So far, I think this season is really good. It's better than the last 2 seasons, and although rating are down, NBC is taking into account the fact that it is one of the most downloaded/watched shows on the internet.
Macksimus - 10/14/2009, 3:29 PM
MOHINDER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET IT BE MOHINDER. Even though I stopped watching this show half way through series 3 that character should have died a LONG time ago.
JaySchluffy - 10/14/2009, 3:34 PM
Matt Parkman
YogiDonnie - 10/14/2009, 3:35 PM
Mohinder needs to go.....really.
groundrunner15 - 10/14/2009, 3:39 PM
I see a lot of people agree on this Mohinder character but if he's supposedly someone the site says fans would miss deeply...I doubt it's him, simply because he's been missing for quite some time and he hasn't been the most popular character so it must be someone else.
Whispers68 - 10/14/2009, 3:45 PM
haha yeah I wish it was Mohinder.. He just sorta disappeared though so I really doubt it'll be him. What the hell happened to that guy anyway? He hasn't been in this season even once yet..
HeyVanity - 10/14/2009, 3:52 PM
And I really don't think they're taking the future into account anymore.. However, if they are I'm afraid it'll be Bennett. If so, I probably won't be watching this show anymore either.
HeyVanity - 10/14/2009, 3:54 PM
What I want to know is WHERE IS PETERS IRISH GIRLFRIEND. He leaves her in the future and totally forgets about her. Dude that has got to suck. One day he is going to be walking around New York and she is going to walk up to him and be "What the hell happened?" and he is going to be like "Oops"
Lobojon1 - 10/14/2009, 3:54 PM
Too many plotholes and loose ends. [frick] this show.
HeyVanity - 10/14/2009, 4:08 PM
Can it just be everyone please...except for Claire and her lesbian partner lol
dancingmonkey08 - 10/14/2009, 4:12 PM
Mohinder will be back this season. He was recently seen on set filming a scene.

I'm sure he's going to be part of the big plot twist that will eventually come in this season.
Macksimus - 10/14/2009, 4:19 PM
I always wondered the same thing, Lobojon1. I supposed since that reality of time no longer exists, his Irish girl friend must have pop out of time itself. LOL.

stopdropandroll - 10/14/2009, 4:27 PM
The writers of the show are aware of the fact that Peter's girlfriend was left in that future. They say they have no plans to revisit her character right now. They said that they wanted to, but the writers strike ****ed up the rest of season 2 pretty badly. They admit it is a plothole, but they're not going to do anything about it except to just let it go and forget about it.
Macksimus - 10/14/2009, 4:37 PM
@Macksimus: Yeah that seems to be their attitude about alot of the issues with this show.. They aren't even trying to hide the fact that they're making it all up as they go. All they care about is ratings. The "story" is ridiculous.
HeyVanity - 10/14/2009, 4:51 PM
@heyvanity

Yeah, I wish they gave more care to the story. It's too bad, because this series had so much potential.

Macksimus - 10/14/2009, 4:57 PM
so much has changed after they reveal a future scene, that it pretty much means that reality doesnt exist anymore, them being hunted no longer exists cause they changed the past, sylars son no longer exists cause they changed the past, sylar being nice no longer exists cause they have changed the past, and so on and so forth, they can discount any future scenes by changing the past and in essence change reality, so any future scenes being "tied" in is prob. not gonna happen
NiteSoul69 - 10/14/2009, 5:05 PM
@heyvanity

"They aren't even trying to hide the fact that they're making it all up as they go."

I thought I was the only one who held this perception...that the show seems to pretty much wing it from week-to-week. I could be wrong but that's how the stories seem at times...as if they're not even trying. I didn't give up on the show because anything can make or break it at this point, but the love i once held is no longer present. I watch it every week but that' kinda due to being there since Season 1 as opposed to anything else.

I'm currently in love with Fringe though
Whispers68 - 10/14/2009, 5:09 PM
@Whispers68- I'm also a "fan" of Heroes, and I'm also Dissatisfied with how things are going... but I still watch.
Fringe is the $h!T.
Magicfingers - 10/14/2009, 5:46 PM
HONESTLLY..KILLING OFF CHARACTERS. YOU KNOW IVE BEEN SAYING IT, ALOT OF FANS HAVE BEEN SAYING IT..WHEN YOU TOOK PETER'S POWERS AWAY AND HIRO'S AND THEN GAVE THEM BACK BUT WATERED DOWN..WHAT GIVES?..PEOPLE ARE DEAF AND RETARDED..."WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET BACK RATINGS?" LESBIAN KISS?..KILL OFF A MAJOR CHARACTER, WHAT??....ANSWER IS STARING AT YOU AND YOU IGNORE IT ALL..YOU KNOW WHAT STARTED THE DECLINE IN RATINGS? JEFF LOEB GETTING THE AXE.....THAT WAS A DUMB MOVE.
GUNSMITH - 10/14/2009, 5:49 PM
@magicfingers

Fringe has been nonstop tastiness since the first episode in my eyes. It's the one "thriller-ish" show from last season that has caught my eye.

"Flash Forward" from this season has potential as I'm enjoying it thus far. I'm late on this, but I've watched maybe one episode of "24." I think I should revisit that show because I've always heard good things.

@gunsmith

They actually blamed the decline in ratings on both Loeb and Alexander due to their creative direction
Whispers68 - 10/14/2009, 5:53 PM
Mohinder or Ando
jazzman - 10/14/2009, 6:19 PM
I think the show has been very good lately. up until this week, all episodes have been to a quality on par with season one. The issue, Matt parkman and sylar. Hate the bastards. Love peter but the nathan thing bugs the crap out of me. Peter's new story involving the woman who interperets sound as color has been very interesting and i think new characters are definetly what the show needs. It also needs intensity. Season 3 witht he puppet master holding claire and her moms hostage was intense and awesome. needs to go for the grit, and i don't just mean popping out bones.
blacksword7 - 10/14/2009, 6:28 PM
They need to kill off that spineless whinebag Parkman or Ali Larter. Both of her characters sucked.
antz1104 - 10/14/2009, 6:31 PM
Why exactly did they take away all of Peter's powers? The show should have revolved around Peter and Sylar...with back stories...both of them building their powers in different ways and then using that "Registration for People with Abilities" aka Mutant Registration and then they could have taken it down the Civil War route...THE DUMBEST PART OF THIS SHOW IS THAT THEY PRETEND LIKE WE DON'T KNOW ITS ALL BASED LOOSELY ON X-MEN/MARVEL...and so they start tryin to get away from the more Comic side of it and into this drama and then the ratings drop so they go back to the more comic book style...Peter/Sylar coulda been X/Magneto...
continuezero - 10/14/2009, 6:45 PM
and i should care because...?
Weeton - 10/14/2009, 7:12 PM
Sylar is not in the pic, but I am guessing that if he were to go it would be because they have Zachary Quinto's new post-Nathan character still around, but get Sylar out of Parkman's head "killing" Sylar.

Suresh has only been in one episode, and the line "he may be present, or he may not be" would not be worth mentioning if it weren't him.

No one would care if Parkman died, Hiro/Masi Oka is the comic relief, Peter is the anchor, and Ando would be a poor choice because the viewers would not care much and his death would change the Hiro character too much.

---

They took Peter and Ando's powers because they were too powerful, the only obstacle for Peter would be Sylar, that would get old. Hiro had no obstacles which just leave the show a never ending loop of changing the past and dealing with the consequences, which would also get old.

Didn't Stan Lee do a cameo? To me that means that relation to X-Men is not trying to be hidden.
HarrisonBergeron - 10/14/2009, 7:29 PM
bennett is the best character in the show! no way they should kill him off. if anyone needs to go it should be matt or nathan. the are both going little to nowhere. i'm a huge heroes fan and i gotta say season four has been substandard to what i expect from the show, and seriously where is mohinder? he is one of the characters who i look forword to seeing every week. i have been one of this shows biggest deffenders since day one but the need to get something going again fast
comicboyV1 - 10/14/2009, 8:21 PM
@comicboy
Seriously, I think they should just off all the "heroes" and keep Bennett haha. He's the only one who has stayed consistently interesting.

This new thing with the girl who can see sound bugs me the most. That is actually a real thing and it's become painfully obvious that the creators have zero creativity. I'm sick of them adding powers purely for convenience.. and stupid ones at that.. This show is going nowhere. Any one of us could create a more interesting story.
HeyVanity - 10/14/2009, 8:45 PM
Watching it just seems pointless when you know that there is no bigger picture and that every episode is just a new plan to get a reaction from the "fans". They're just dragging us along.

HeyVanity - 10/14/2009, 8:48 PM
lol angela has managed to stay interesting as well. which has also been mostly absent this season.the seeing colors thing is annoying because it wastes the no doubt small effects budget on something that is extremely pointless to the story.
comicboyV1 - 10/14/2009, 9:13 PM
Each episode is slowly heading beyond the $4 million budget so the effects are definitely being wasted on nonsense.

They need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what made Heroes a success when it first premiered.
Whispers68 - 10/14/2009, 10:19 PM
As much as I love Ando maybe his death will lead to some Hiro bad assery. As for jeph loeb how far into the series was his run because based on his recent comics I wouldnt be suprised if he was the cause of the slump. I'm not a loeb hater but seriously "feral mutants evolved from dogs" I thought the X-gene occured in humans, I wont even go into that other book of his.
breakUbatman - 10/15/2009, 2:28 AM
I think it will be Noah, Matt or Peter. They want to boost ratings there going to take a bigger player than Mohinder or Ando. By the way puting T-Bag from Prison Break and Ernie Hudson from Ghostbusters was an awesome move.

PS-

BRING BACK JOURNEYMAN!
LTZintheAZ - 10/15/2009, 2:33 AM
@ Kyos: Hahaha, when is a lesbian kiss thing ever lame? =P ...
LOL It's lame when one of the 2 chicks doesn't kiss back and or there's no tongue... and it's really lame when there's no nudity.
SUPASEGO - 10/15/2009, 5:10 AM
JEFF LOEB DIDNT CAUSE THE RATINGS SLIP, HE WAS THE COMIC INFLUENCE..YOU TAKE HM AWAY AND THE SHOW STARTS TO DEGRADE INO A SOAP OPERA..WHY TAKE AWAY ONE OF THE GUYS THAT GAVE YOU THE TRUE INSIGHT ON COMIC BOOK LIKE CHARACTERS,POWERS AND INTRICATE WISDOM ON POWERS AND THEIR INNERWORKINGS?..HE WAS THE MAIN PUSHER NEXT TO KRING IF AT ALL, THE RATING WERE PROBABLLY SLIPPING BECAUSE THEY WERENT LISTENING TO HIM,
GUNSMITH - 10/15/2009, 6:43 AM
HEROES IS SHIT! Sorry if that isnt constructive enough but you know i am right!
wards - 10/15/2009, 8:47 AM
They need to just crank up the action. If we had an ability even a lame one like the deaf girl (which may turn into something pretty cool) or Meg on Family Guy (growing her fingernails) we'd be using it a lot more than these guys do, except maybe Sylar and Peter.

More action!
MacThorn - 10/15/2009, 8:50 AM
If it's Suresh it's not going to be a big deal since nobody has given a flying [frick] about him since the first season and we haven't even seen him this season anyways.

Honestly i think this season is great and will match if not surpass the first season.

The major improvements i've seen are

-they're introducing a new character and actually developing her instead of just tossing her in as a major part of the story. (I have a feeling she's going to play a very big part in the story, but instead of tossing her in like Maya in season 2 and Daphne in season 3 they're giving he a little backstory first.

-they're taking a darker tone with their characters and developing them in new ways besides just messing with their powers.

-the way the heroes interact with each other. Matt and Sylar's scenes together have been some of the best out of the whole series.

-Sylar's not the unstoppable villain anymore, and his character is fresh and interesting for the first time since season one.

-they haven't wimped out of the whole Sylar/Nathan thing. Yes he's not Nathan anymore but atleast he didn't just snap out of it and become perfect Sylar again. I hope that this is going to be a season long conflict, but unfortunately from the preview for next weeks episode it looks like Samuel is just going to zap his memories back.

-they're taking their time! The plot isn't unfolding within the first episode like in the past 3 volumes. We are watching the character in preparation for whats about to happen (this little thing called exposition that they forgot to use in season 2 and 3). In season one the plot is revealed in small chunks throughout the first few episodes. This season it's 5 episodes in and we still don't have a clear picture of what Samuel is planning.

-they aren't trying to cram everybody's story into one episode. In the past 2 seasons they've trying to put atleast a part of everybody's story into every episode which causes everything to be rushed and less time for us to focus on one character. In this season they'll interchange the stories and shows different combinations every week just like season 1.

Overall i think this is going to be a great season and bring this show back to it's former glory. As I said above it shows alot of characteristics from the first season that were absent in the bad seasons.
Crazyhorrormovienerd - 10/15/2009, 9:17 AM
Did anyone watch last night's episode? They have to be reading forums because they finally explained why Claire's blood won't heal hiro haha.
HeyVanity - 10/20/2009, 6:24 PM
Why can't they just give us what They've been Promising us since season 1? Give Peter his power back, Give Sylar his Mind back, and Give us an Epic Battle that doesn't take place behind a closed door.
