Jackie Earle Harley is Sinestro in "Green Lantern" Film?

The actor who brought Rorschach to life in "Watchmen" is rumored to be the front-runner as the villain in the Green Lantern film
According to "Ain't it Cool" news, the actor who fans praised for his performance as Rorschach in Zack Snyder's "Watchmen", is rumored to be the lead in portraying the villain Sinestro in "Green Lantern."

The site also reports that, Superman is potentially making a cameo in the superhero film.

If both of these turn out to be true, DC seems to be taking a page from the Marvel universe by connecting characters from different comic books in feature films.

Supposedly, the rumor was passed down from a reliable source working on the film.

Green Lantern, to be directed by Martin Campbell and starring Ryan Reynolds, is targeting a June 17, 2011 release date.

Whispers68: Sinestro is nearly 6'2 and Jackie is 5'5...hmmm. This will definitely get die hard fans a bit bothered but that's life. I didn't make this up...it's posted on two sites. Two rather well respected sites. I'm not posting to impress my girlfriend, dad or cousins. If the rumor turns out to be untrue, we can cough it up like any other casting rumors that turn out to be incorrect information.

Well it sounds interesting... and he is a good actor ... But since he is so short he should be one of the guardians .... not sinestro ... To bad you not trying to impress anyone... ;-)
thegreek - 10/17/2009, 2:47 AM
Good actor but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to SIN, he's too [frick]ing small plus he's in the DC series HUMAN TARGET too!!!

These are the only GOOD SINESTRO'S =

LEEE777 - 10/17/2009, 3:58 AM
meh...i dont see the point in casting Hayley in every CBM going...as for the supes cameo...it was said a Clark apearance may happen but it also may be cut from the finished movie, im guessing its as a newspaper article with Kents name at the bottom ..but who knows :P
teabag - 10/17/2009, 4:48 AM
I like ur picks better leee777,

@ tea ur right is was mentioned a while ago that Clark would make a cameo appearance. I still think this movie is the reason why everything is stalling. DC wants to properly place certain characters in this movie before they do any other films. Which is a good thing. So i wouldn't be surprised if the flash made a cameo as well.
StrangemannX09 - 10/17/2009, 6:38 AM
this guy for the Flash.......

:D
teabag - 10/17/2009, 6:49 AM
"I'm not posting to impress my girlfriend, dad or cousins." lol, classic.

Whispers68-- That of him up there, he looks like a pink Alfred Pennyworth. So maybe Michael Caine could play ol' Sinny. Yeah, no.
Betty - 10/17/2009, 8:24 AM
Hell Yeah lol :P
teabag - 10/17/2009, 8:46 AM
@ Betty

LOL. It's a rumor so I had to make it clear in separating myself from the guy and his Beyonce being cast as Wonder Woman situation to impress his beloved girlfriend. I like the site, don't want my integrity ruined for false information

But like you guys are saying, I really don't see casting Jackie as a good idea, not because of acing abilities because he can play a role such as this...but the physical features don't mesh well. Yes, Hollywood can create the visual enhancements but just check for someone else

Whispers68 - 10/17/2009, 9:01 AM
Clint Eastwood is tall enough to play sinistro Harharhar
georgia49th - 10/17/2009, 10:04 AM
It better be a rumor. He's an awesome actor, but hell no to him as Sinestro.

That role belongs solely to Jason Isaacs.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 10/17/2009, 10:11 AM
Tyler@ agreed :)

Jason Issacs.......

:P

:)
teabag - 10/17/2009, 10:18 AM
teabag: LMAO!
InTylerWeTrust82 - 10/17/2009, 10:35 AM
@teabag haha those were funny
tyko450 - 10/17/2009, 10:39 AM
Sure as hell impressed me lollllllll

Hugo Weaving for Sinestro
Imran - 10/17/2009, 10:46 AM
Jackie Earle Hayley isnt Sinestro. He doesnt even look right for the part.
akthunder - 10/17/2009, 10:47 AM
Ryan Reynolds for Sinestro
MultiPurposePoni - 10/17/2009, 10:56 AM
He could probably pull it off but Hugo would be better
MrAnonymous - 10/17/2009, 10:59 AM
This is a lot like the Hugh Jackman for Wolverine thing.

He made a great Wolverine, but yeah... he's too tall.

I am sure that Hayley will pwn that role if he gets it.
But yeah, he's too short lol

same thing.
DarthMulder - 10/17/2009, 10:59 AM
Im sure its a rumour tho :)
teabag - 10/17/2009, 11:00 AM
I agree with DarthMulder. I know he would do a fantastic job with the role, but there are people who are better for it. Save his talents for something else.
groundrunner15 - 10/17/2009, 11:09 AM
He definitely has the acting abilities for the part and as I mentioned before, Hollywood can perform visual enhancements to make him appear taller, not 6'2 but taller than 5'5.

Or they can simply overlook the height differentiation and make the film because they feel he is a good candidate for the sinister portrayal but I feel there are many others in Hollywood or waiting to break into Hollywood that can perform this role with both the ability and physical characteristics.
Whispers68 - 10/17/2009, 11:30 AM
I like Jackie“s performance but prefer HUGO WEAVING-SINESTRO.
OSCURO - 10/17/2009, 11:43 AM
If this is true, it almost makes up for casting Ryan Reynolds as GL.

Almost.
slimybug - 10/17/2009, 11:44 AM
Lmao @ TEA!!

OSCURO @ Good man!!

Slimybug @ You've gotta be joking, its a total miscast!!

LEEE777 - 10/17/2009, 12:19 PM

:)
teabag - 10/17/2009, 12:20 PM
I had this idea forever ago!

But now that I think of it, Hugo Weaving might be better. Idk I'd be happy with either
ElBeaster - 10/17/2009, 12:50 PM
Lol, you know they could always say that Korugarians are smaller than humans. Maybe even state Sinestro is very tall for a Korugarian, it might make Jackie feel good, poor little guy.

I could see Jackie rocking Sinestro though. He may not be the physical ideal for the role, but you can't say the guy doesn't have the acting chops to pull it off.
nerosday - 10/17/2009, 1:13 PM
TEA @ Lol!!

ElBeaster @ ; )

Neroday @ FFS dude he's done two DC Characters already, if he gets this, he may as well do the whole DC Universe lol, plus again good quality actor but so is WEAVING and ISAACS, but he's too small too! ; D
LEEE777 - 10/17/2009, 1:40 PM
@teabag- Ok, the Sinestro pics were funny... until you made fun of Canada. I'll let it be for now, but lay off the Canuck bashing. Your neighbour to the North, signing off. ;)
Magicfingers - 10/17/2009, 1:43 PM
Magic@ how can i be making fun of Canada.....we have a government run heathcare here..lol :P
teabag - 10/17/2009, 1:49 PM
oh my god! he can't be rorschach AND sinestro!! everyone will get confused and think rorschach is in green lantern!! it'll totally take me out of the movie! OMG!!!! lol

seriously though, that would be awesome!
CorndogBurglar - 10/17/2009, 2:16 PM
Great! Jackie was one of my picks for sinestro already. the other being hugo weaving
Jp499 - 10/17/2009, 3:30 PM
Hayley would do a good sin. Hugo would probably fit the bill better though. Does it even matter with the height thing? I don't really care about that part, just Huge can be more "Evil".
wyatt1234 - 10/17/2009, 5:13 PM
I'm not sure about him playing Sinestro.
Bandrews1 - 10/17/2009, 5:33 PM
He's short and he's soon to be in the DC COMICS HUMAN TARGET series as another DC Character, so again, HELL NO!

: D
LEEE777 - 10/17/2009, 6:19 PM
HUGO WEAVING DAMMIT
GUNSMITH - 10/17/2009, 8:27 PM
HUGH LAURIE
freakybatman - 10/17/2009, 9:16 PM
Poor JEH. Such a sweet guy. Always playing psychopathic crazy guys.

I vote Hugo Weaving. Take Mr. Smith and give him a bit of theatrical, almost Vincent Price-like spice like in V for Vendetta and you got Sinestro.

Photobucket

Also, Jeff Anderson as Guy Gardner.

Photobucket

Tyrese Gibson as John Stewart.

Photobucket

Jensen Ackles as Kyle Rayner.

Photobucket

John DiMaggio (voice) as Kilowog (who'd have to be CGI, obviously).

Photobucket

And Harrison Ford as Alan Scott ([frick] YEAH!)

Photobucket
MovieTheaterLad - 10/17/2009, 9:22 PM
@ Movie Theater lad - I like your picks... they would be perfect for the parts...
thegreek - 10/17/2009, 10:16 PM
Jason Isaacs = Sinestro

Jeremy Renner = Guy Gardner

Idris Elba = John Stewart

Milo Ventimiglia = Kyle Rayner

Dennis Haysbert = Kilowog

Dennis Quaid = Alan Scott

InTylerWeTrust82 - 10/17/2009, 10:47 PM
I don't think Sinestro should be the name of the individual that becomes Sinestro. It should be a moniker that he is dubbed after betraying the corp. This way, it would seem ludicrous that they gave a guy named Sinestro a ring! LOL
Phinehas - 10/18/2009, 12:19 AM
Honestly who cares about the height difference????

Tom Cruise is like 4 feet tall and he's making movies...

He's a good actor and I'd be glad to see him as Sinestro.
The role calls for a good actor. If they pick a poor one the whole movie will suffer.

Hugo Weaving would be sweet too.

Oh and MovieTheaterLad... Tyrese shouldn't be in any movie whatsoever, aside from that nice picks.
LexLuthor - 10/18/2009, 12:58 AM
If Michael Clarke Duncan can be in multiple CBM's why not JEH and Reynolds. I'm not really bothered by the height thing if it is such an issue they can do some Lord of THe Rings effects or just use camera angles like The Green Mile.
breakUbatman - 10/18/2009, 3:39 AM
yeah fuk Tyrese! Him and his dumb ass comic!
Betty - 10/18/2009, 9:09 AM
@Phinehas: The problem with that is Sinestro IS his real name from the beginning. Sure, it was probably created to give him a 'sinister' moniker from the beginning, but it is GL canon. What would you rather see him called, Steve?
MultiPurposePoni - 10/18/2009, 10:03 AM
somebody tell me why Sinestro looks like Walt Disney with read skin?
HavokNinja93 - 10/18/2009, 1:02 PM
MPP-

Of course not. Please, give me some credit based on how long we've known each other on these pages. Steve??? Please! No, something a little more alien than that. Although, I'm coming across fewer and fewer Steves these days. ;-P

It wouldn't be the first time "canon" was breeched on film and it worked out to the benefit of the story as a whole. In fact, it has happened such that these type of things had gone on from film or TV and become accepted as canon in comicbook lore. The thing to avoid is breaking the general spirit or violating things specifically spoken of in the comics(i.e. Sinestro is from Korugar). Do we really know that Sinesto's mother gave him that name? No. But, we could expound on the reasoning of the name so that it didn't come across as goofy.

Apparently, his successor in the Corp. turns out to be his son, Soranik Natu. Perhaps a variant on that name? Furthermore, a little back story on his home planet of Korugar would add to the drama. That is, why he has totalitarian tendencies. Forgive me if my GL knowledge is limited. I've read his comics off and on. Right now I am reading Blackest Night.
Phinehas - 10/18/2009, 1:25 PM
Well, I would've gone with another guy, but most of the other ones I've already picked for stuff.

What's wrong with him, though? He's fairly decent as an actor and has lots of experience with action movies.
MovieTheaterLad - 10/18/2009, 2:03 PM
MTL-

They discriminate against short people here! Notice how everyone is now pro-Jackman for Wolvie??? LOL
Phinehas - 10/18/2009, 2:33 PM
"I'm coming across fewer and fewer Steves these days"..lmao hehehe

Sorry Phin@ just made me giggle lol

I dont think height is the issue here is it!?!
teabag - 10/18/2009, 2:46 PM
@Phin: I was exaggerating with 'Steve'. . . but now that you mention it, we SHOULD have a G Lantern by the name of Steve dammit! We owe it to the depleting population of Steve's to make this happen!

I smell a new CBM petition ;)
MultiPurposePoni - 10/18/2009, 2:59 PM
They should change Kilowog's name to Steve.

Just think about the comedic possibilities...
InTylerWeTrust82 - 10/18/2009, 3:05 PM
@Tyler: I can see it now -

"GET BACK IN LINE YOU POOZER!!!"

"Ooooooh, watch out Hal, Steve's mad"

MultiPurposePoni - 10/18/2009, 3:11 PM
LOL

You guys bust me up! LOL

Tea-

"I dont think height is the issue here is it!?!"

Not for me, but there seems to be some measurable concern about it. I haven't seen Watchmen, and don't recall anything from Haley except the Bad News Bears. So, I can't give a reasonable opinion on the matter.
Phinehas - 10/18/2009, 3:13 PM

To instill FEAR, is to instill order- Sinestro
Joey Misfit - 10/18/2009, 3:59 PM
To instill balance to the Matrix?
MultiPurposePoni - 10/18/2009, 4:17 PM
IF SINESTRO ISNT PLAYED BY HUGO WEAVING F F F F F F FFF FFFFFF
GUNSMITH - 10/18/2009, 4:24 PM
"IF SINESTRO ISNT PLAYED BY HUGO WEAVING"

Then he'll be played by someone else! (gasp)

Perhaps it'll prove, if performed effectively, that our fancasts may not always be the wisest (considering an actor's asking cost, or availability. Maybe even ability to do the part) choice. You never know.
Phinehas - 10/18/2009, 7:13 PM
Steve is a cool name ....wink :P
teabag - 10/19/2009, 6:19 AM
Jason Isaacs for sinestro and tyler- i agreed with u Dennis Quaid for Alan Scott, is a better choice than Harrison Ford
