Maintains both the era and realism of the period. I approve. Nuff said.

I like it. To those saying they would have preferred this, I think it might have worked, but there would have been a ton of backlash if they didn't put him in a formal costume for the movie. Part of the idea of Captain America is having him be a symbol that can inspire the people fighting on his side. Also, for merchandising purposes, you have to think about how significant toy sales are. The fancy costume would sell a lot more action figures than this plainer one.

Anyway, IMO the brown jacket has the feel of both Indianna Jones and The Rocketeer. Not sure how intentional that was, but they're all set around the same time period.

Looks very good. Let's see how they explain the change of uniforms. We already know about the shield, but the outfit wasn't properly explained.

I wouldn't call it a transition from Ultimates to the big screen.

Cap always did start out with a triangular shield, the one Cap is carrying is identical to the original Jack Kirby design, three stars only.

As for the rest, it's simply stemming from Bryan Hitch's design drawing from US Army gear of the time. I mean are we really going to credit Millar and Hitch with army pants, spats and an M1 helmets?

@LoudLon

It's just the image of him walking as cap just with different cloths on. It's likely a computer rendering, since it is just concept art, and not a real model.

The only thing even slightly resembling the Ultimates costume is the helmet, and that's only on him when he goes AWOL to rescue Bucky.

MOVIE OF THE SUMMER!!!!!
Ichaos
Ichaos - 4/20/2011, 4:22 AM
People read some other new version of Captain America, most the costumes shown so far are far from comic accurate and no Ultimates versions dont count. Most peple are familiar with the classic costume not some sub line of comics based on some alternate universe cooked up by some marketing tactic
ThaMessenger07
ThaMessenger07 - 4/20/2011, 8:42 AM
@ Ichaos: They are modern updates that still keep to some accuracy with the comics. The younger crowd is more associated with Ultimates and this movie as all there upcoming movies are tailored to cater to both crowds. The First suit he wore would look absolutely stupid on screen and this movie would flop if that was the route chosen.
