William Fichtner Cast As The Villain In THE LONE RANGER

According to Deadline, actor William Fichtner has been set to play the villain in the Gore Verbinski-directed action western film, The Lone Ranger. He is replacing Dwight Yoakam, who had to dropped out of the project due to scheduling conflict.

"Disney has tapped William Fichtner to replace Dwight Yoakam in The Lone Ranger. He will play the bad guy that Yoakam was set to take on before the actor-singer dropped out Friday because of a scheduling conflict."

The Lone Ranger had some production problems before they even started filming. Big budget and script were two main reasons why everything was delayed. But now, it seems that they are moving forward, with Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp and Ruth Wilson also starring in the upcoming film. The Lone Ranger is set for May 31, 2013 release.

WOW .. I wasn't even interested in this movie and now it will just kick ass !! He needs to be a villain in a CBM.

This is the second time he's replaced Yoakom. He was supposed to play the bank manager in TDK.

He was great in HEAT. But of course that's why he got the role in TDK because Nolan was heavily influenced by that movie & it was his inspiration for TDK. Inception as well.

Good for him. He's one of those actors who gives it all and brings something unique to all his roles, even the small ones.

@Intruder Are you sure you just dont like Farrell and are biased? He was the strongest actor in Daredevil. If the rest of the movie was cast better, we probably would have 4 DD movies by now.

William Fichtner is one of my favorite actors. TDK, Heat, Armageddon, The Perfect Storm, Black Hawk Down, The Longest Yard, Crash, Blades of Glory, and Equilibrium.....wow, not a bad resume.

Jeez calm down people, Tom Wilkinson is playing the main villain. Fichter's just playing one of his henchmen. And Yoakam was going to play the role of Wuertz in TDK not the bank manager.

I was just basically saying "Heat" is one of Nolan's favorite movies. You can actually watch TDK & Inception & see the influence [Heat] had on Nolan's directing.

Prison break was such a good show and then started to kinda veer off but Alex Mahone came in and [frick]ed some shit up... Love this dude even tho he was in tdk ... I usually just pass out after the prologue anyway

This film now has my interest whereas before this news I was in a 'meh' state of mind about it.

I had absolutely ZERO interest in this movie until I saw that Ruth Wilson would be in a major role (probably love interest i'd guess). Now its on my list of must-sees just for her alone. Something about her is mesmerizing.

Gotta say I've enjoyed every role I've seen him play, even if the movie/tv show sucked. I don't really know much about the lone ranger but I'm sure bill will do a good job at being the villain, he always does.

Who would have thought that the reason I would go see this movie is because of William Fichtner, and not Johnny Depp. I still would have liked him to have played Black Mask in TDKR.

Fichtner is the only reason I watch The Longest Yard every Saturday morning. I wake up and look down towards the ground and think "Wow! That's a long yard! Why don't I watch William Fichtner beat the crap out of Adam Sandler?" Done! Saturday morning planned!

I agree with you guys, this gives me reason, as a Lone Ranger fan, to have hope in the direction they are going.

Gusto, didn't you get caught trying to show off your Lone Ranger gun to the neighborhood kids back in the fifties only to have parents take offense?

William Fichtner as Butch Cavendish...I like it!

I was a kid when "The Legend of the Lone Ranger" hit theaters. Back then, I loved it. When I saw it again a few years ago, I hated it. I guess growing up does that to a person. Despite being a lousy movie, there were two standout performances: Jason Robards as President Ulysses S. Grant and Christopher Lloyd as Butch Cavendish. I liked the way Cavendish was portrayed as a former major in the Union Army who turned to a life of crime. He wasn't just some average Old West outlaw gang leader. He had brains and cunning. I'm curious to see what Fichtner will bring to the role.
