Why watchmen is the greatest cbm ever

You know it

Watchmen had such directors as Terry Gilliam going through it at times but after years and years the prefect one came. Everybody had their mind blowen by 300 and WB was inpressed too. Zach Snyder was anounced as director on June 23 and production began for the best cbm ever.

The first thing I will praise is the directing. The setting was a realistic depiction of 1980's NYC but gave it a magical feel which made you think masked heors could happen. The 80's references were priceless, such as Ozymendias and David Bowie together or the whole nixon thing and so much more. Another thing I loved was the lighting. I loved how it was very dark but had flashing instances, such as the whole smiley face thing or the scenes on mars of the transformation into Dr. Manhatten. He also stayed very very true to the graphic novel.

The next I will praise is the cast. I for one think Jackie Edward Haley's portrayal of Rorschach was as good as Heath Ledger's as The Joker [please no negative comments on that], he played it so well and just how you imagined when you were reading it. I also love Patric Wilson as Nite Owl, he played almost in a nerd type way and made him seem like a normal guy but when he got out as Nite Owl he completly changed. One thing I did not like was The Comedian in the movie. In the book he seemed like a cool guy but a little bit of a jerk and in the movie he was more full on jerk, it was not the actors falt but more the writing. The rest of the acting was pretty good too, I especially liked the casting of Malin Akerman who was not quite like silk in the book but was still good and not a big name actress like some they were conidering.

I loved the script writing and how close it was to the graphic novel. I loved how it swerved things from the graphic novel subtly.

I just want to say this pushed the envelope and is all around the best cbm ever.

I agree with you man. I watched the film last night and was so blown away with the attention to detail and the very visual of it all. If you didnt like the graphic novel then it would make sense if you didnt like the Film but if you read the novel and liked it then no one should [female dog] because it was the closes adaptation to a comicbook or hell even a novel, that we have seen to date.
marvel72 - 3/30/2011, 5:46 PM
i loved watchmen,i think this is without doubt the most accurate adaption to date.

from comic pannel to film frame this is the best,i know it had slight changes, the gore was turned up to the max & it had an unessacery sex scene.

but overall near perfection.

personally i think watchmen & superman the movie are joint first as best dc movie.

Snyder's second best work after dawn of the dead
writernick - 3/30/2011, 6:53 PM
I liked the intro, that was about it... I never read the graphic novel, and after watching the movie, which I enjoyed (though, I didn't think it was a masterpiece), I don't think I'd ever go back and read it. Watchmen is for a select few. For the fans, not for the general audience, and that's why it didn't work.
daredevilfan - 3/30/2011, 7:13 PM
@ writernick you may have not loved it but you can't deny the art of it
Supes17 - 3/30/2011, 7:21 PM
WATCHMEN was set in 1985...... Imo: Superman '78 > TDK > Watchmen > BB > Batman'89
whoa123 - 3/30/2011, 7:36 PM
I completely agree with you dude except for one thing Patrick Wilson played Nite Owl not Patrick Stewart.
daredevilfan - 3/30/2011, 7:40 PM
@superman17 and whoa123 oops i'll change right away i rushed a little
Supes17 - 3/30/2011, 7:57 PM
Although in my opinion the original superman and TDK are superior, I must admit that Watchmen is one of the best CBMs ever made as well as the CLOSEST to the source material. The thing is almost a motion comic. Jackie's performance as Rorscach was one of the best I've seen, and I consider WATCHMEN to be Snyder's best work, not 300 or Dawn of the Dead. PS, Read my editorial on the Joker, its simple but straightforward. Let me know what you think :)

Constantine was the greatest to me.

Well I wasn't such a big fan. It looked pretty occasionally and the opening montage with 'Times they are a changin' playing in the background was superb. But after that it was a big let down.

Felt the director and the actors were almost too reverential and looked as if the roles were like straitjackets on the cast. Just a real lack of creativity.

Would have prefered to have seen in it as a TV series with a bit more exploration of the characters and story rather than craming the source material into two and a half hours.

Caedus137 - 3/31/2011, 6:51 AM
Whilst I respect your opinion and the points you put forward, for me Watchmen was a 3 hour bore-fest. I really didnt enjoy it. Im not here to bash or name-call or anything, I just really didnt like it.
xBlaze96x - 3/31/2011, 8:07 AM
Well, I Do Enjoy Your Opinion I Liked It But I Don't Think It is the greatest.
Yes it was close to the source material very much so and i love that.
But after awhile of watching it i got a little bored.
I still remember the whole naked sex scenes....which was kinda hot with the chick but i really think Nightowl screwed it up....it is a great cbm...but not the greatest in my book.
Keep writing though.

I found the film to have a solid narrative, it new where it was going and how it was going about it. The characters were fleshed out (enough) and the visuals were decent. I can understand how many can like it, for all intense and purposes it is a good film. However to things for me don't work, one being that it is very dark film, i find it difficult to like a film that has no "heart" or "warmth" I don't care for the character's plight because i don't particularly like them. My second gripe is a childish one, but still holds true, manhatten man was too strong. When you have a character like that, that can't be beaten, it's just plain boring to watch. There's my two cence.
Geeksiah - 3/31/2011, 3:24 PM
It's a good CBM

My last comment was deleted, so I will simply say this:

While I do not discourage your opinion on this matter or others, I simply, completely, disagree with your opinion on this matter.

Please check your grammar, i.e.:
"The next I will praise is the cast."
WesleyGibson - 4/1/2011, 7:21 PM
it isnt cool to delete peoples comment just cause yu disagree, like if it is someone just telling yu a mistake that is one thing but deleting someone else's opinion is another dude..
daredevilfan - 4/4/2011, 8:41 AM
@theworldisyours did you read his last comment
kriswone - 4/4/2011, 11:20 AM
Yea, my last comment was a little ridiculous, worthy of being removed but completely hilarious!

I re-think about that deleted comment every once in a while to get a chuckle. hehe.
WesleyGibson - 4/5/2011, 12:11 PM
@daredevilfan
just letting you know for future references. Some people on this site like to go delete crazy and just start deleting random comments they don't like. so yeah.

still though I hold strong to what I said because you can never just cancel out someone else's opinion. Opinions are like noses, everyone has one.

P.S. I'm a big DD fan myself. Read my article of top 5 fav heroes if you would be interested.
