Breaking the Bat - TDKR

This moment was one of the most awaited sequence for every comic book fan. If Bane is going to break the Bat or not something everyone was talking around specially. Although this scene was underwhelming, Bane lifts Batman and goes for the backbreaker in the film. It just happened and I felt like it was done just for the sake of it.

Opening scene in Dredd 3-D

Dredd was surprise of the year. It was rated R like its comic book version and it was worth it. The scene opens and we get the glimpse of Mega city with criminals being skinned off and being tortured in different ways. The opening scene gives you an idea how violent this movie is going to be.

Thor vs Hulk – The Avengers

Thor vs Hulk is something every comic book fan talks about. No one expected that Thor will try to stop a rampaging Hulk on SHIELD Helicarrier thus bring of the the most epic battle sequence in the comic book history alive on screen. The excitement grows stronger when Hulk attemps to lift of Thor’s hammer and fails. These scenes are straight from pages of Marvel Comics and like most of the times it ends in a no contest.

Spidey’s last swing – The Amazing Spider-Man

In his final attempt to save Gwen and stop lizard a wounded Spider-Man swings through New-York and the city comes up to help him. This scene was epic for me because of two reasons 1) It was a direct homage to the Original Spider-Man movie where people of New York come ahead to help Spider-Man from Green Goblin and 2) Because it reminded me of the classic Spider-Man game where Spider-Man swings across cranes and construction during the police chase level.

Bond-Silva Chase – Skyfall

For me this chase was awesome, gut wrenching. It’s a treat to see a menacing villain who is always a step ahead from the hero. Bond runs after Silva through tunnels, changing trains and nearly gets crushed by a falling train. By nick of time Silva would have succeeded in killing M at the courthouse if Bond had not arrived.

Football stadium scene- TDKR

What happens when a menacing villain has a earthquake machine in a city whose hero is gone? He takes over the city by demonstrating his power. Bane might not be as powerful as his comic book counterpart but he was as smart as he was supposed to be. He tears apart the ground as makes it look like some comet struck that spot. Still why blow the place up when he was going to detonate the bomb after a given period of time when he could have just taken over after breaking Batman is something that I never understood.

I am the Law – Dredd 3-D

Dredd is known for this catchphrase and in entire movie he used it only at one place where it was most needed and that made the movie worth.

Captain America vs Iron Man vs Thor – The Avengers

in another epic moment from this movie where Iron man and Thor battle each other tearing apart the whole mountain while The God of mischief watches them fight, the fight interrupted by Captain America only fuels up Thor’s ego and the final trike on Cap’s shield levels the entire space whatever was remaining in that mountain.

Battle of New York – The Avengers

Loki’s plan comes in action and he opens a portal over New York that brings his army on Earth. The whole battle sequence was big cinematic moment with lot of moments to count in it. Thor and Hulk killing off a leviathan and Thor getting punched out of camera by Hulk was awesome. Hulks transformation, Captain America commanding police officers and later ordering fellow superheroes, Black Widow’s fighting skills, Hulk Smashing around, Cap and Thor teaming up and so much more to. This battle was again something that was straight from pages of comic books that only Joss Whedon could have pulled off. In total The Avengers was itself a big cinematic moment and it would be really biased on my part to point each of them out.

Thanos Mid Credits – The Avengers

Mid Credit scene: In the mid credits Thanos was introducem Avengers have no idea who is pulling the strings and fans got an idea what is up next in MCU for them. The Other tells Thanos about what happened on Earth and Thanos simply looks back and smiles.

Hon’ble mentions

Battle of Gotham TDKR

Hulk smash Loki: The Avengers

Bond vs Silva: Skyfall

Lizard Transformation: The Amazing Spider-Man

Plane Heist – TDKR

Helicareer vanishing act – The Avengers

Shwarma – The Avengers

Cool... not seen Skyfall yet, not had the time.

RISES was a disappointment - plot holes crappy ending etc etc, if they cut it down and change/tweak the ending a bit could be near much more enjoyable!

I'll keep BEGINS and TDK close to my heart still :p

Yeah the Bane Batman breaking back scene was nothing compared to how cool it was in the KNIGHTFALL chapters, just saying, felt so rushed. : D

THE AVENGERS was fantastic, only bad point not even a 20 second cameo of Hank and Jan (maybe as S.H.I.E.L.D agents or anything) still we got AVENGERS 2!

Deff AVENGERS was beyond awesome and blew most of us away, by far the best movie of 2012 easy!

DREDD was cool, big Dredd reader, much better and close to the comic than Stallone's one : D

Just needed a bigger budget, though what they had to work with, they did amazingly.

Fingers crossed for a sequel with Judge Death & The Dark Judges!

SPIDER-MAN was cool too, just hope they keep to Super Villains that haven't been brought to the big screen b4 for the new movies. So many Spidey villains out there, do not need to go over Doc Ock etc again, though we all know Green Goblin's coming... Electro be super!

Yeah that THANOS bit was beyond breathtaking... cannot wait for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!!!

Cool read.

For me the top 3 moments are 3) High School fight between Spidey and The Lizard 2) Bane breaks the bat 1 (a tie) Avengers Assemble/Thanos reveal
AC1 - 12/27/2012, 10:07 AM
The back break was weird in TDKR; it could've been a breath-taking scene, but the pacing was ruined by Bane's (pointless) explanation of his base being under Wayne Enterprises and Batman's armory being needed. If that tiny part was cut out it would've been much better, plus it would've made more sense since Bane has no reason know where Bruce's equipment was developed.
xSaintx - 12/27/2012, 11:49 AM
I'm not going to troll or anything (not my intention what's so ever) but maybe I'm missing something. How is Skyfall or anything related to 007 considered a Comic Book Movie? Sure, there have been comic book adaptions of the original material (novels) and films but that's not the origin of the character. I see movies on this site from time to time that aren't CBM related on any level. It's not that you shouldn't review 007 or The Hobbit on here by any means, please do. I enjoy reading them... but to add them to a list definitively for Comic Book Movies? Just catches me off guard.
StrangerX - 12/27/2012, 12:05 PM
Good to see you back in action LEEE :)
OptimusPrimeTime - 12/27/2012, 12:07 PM
@@LEEEEE where have you been my friend?!? Long time no see!

The Broken Bat scene was extremely underwhelming and poorly done, IMO, because of the cut directly in the middle where you could see they took the weight of lifting Bale off Tom Hardy.

The Avengers Thor vs. Hulk was awesome, but still felt a bit underwhelming. Iron Man vs. Hulk was much better!

To me, the absolute top moment came in the Avengers when:

The pan-around of the team right after Hulk transforms, Iron Man lands and it pans to show the Chitauri on the building. I still get goosebumps today!!!
OptimusPrimeTime - 12/27/2012, 12:09 PM
Iron Man vs. Thor** is what I meant, not Iron Man vs. Hulk
Hitboyj - 12/27/2012, 12:09 PM
The whole Avengers movie
shadearts - 12/27/2012, 12:16 PM
The best scene is the full Avengers team Assemble and they showed it so much on the trailers but nothing else tops the camera rotating around the team cause thats when we realize that shit just got real and someones about to get that ass kicked
Maximus101 - 12/27/2012, 12:31 PM
@acira that's an odd reason to not enjoy that scene which is clearly most fans favorite scene this year. Bane knew everything about Bruce so I don't find it surprising at all that he knew exactly where Bruce's armory was.

I pretty much agree with redskulls list except I would switch the hulk vs Thor scene with Thor vs iron man. I would take out spideys last swing scene completely, take out the battle of new York scene and the thanos scene completely. I would put the opening plane heist scene in TDKR in there somewhere in the middle and add the opening skyfall chase scene in there somewhere as well.
batman1216 - 12/27/2012, 1:02 PM
I am going to play a game. I watched TDKR now 15 times. Phenomenal movie and no one can tell me any different. So you throw a supposed plot hole at me and I will give you an answer. They are mostly all there clearly in front of you for the most part if you pay attention. There may be 1 or 2 I really don't have an answer for, but there are no where near as many plot holes as are made up to be.
batman1216 - 12/27/2012, 1:17 PM
It is, because several people keep trashing the movie on every article. I am not attacking The Avengers. Loved it and saw it many times as well. I really don't see any distracting or movie ruining plotholes in the movie. I analyzed it pretty well and everything is pretty clear to me.
Nomis1800 - 12/27/2012, 2:07 PM
Like everybody knew who that purple alien was at the end of Avengers, guess not!

Favorite moment was the ending scene of TDKR, just so beautiful!!! But the first return of Batman, breaking the Bat, big chase and many more moments were amazing!!!!!!! Fantastic film, fantastic trilogy!!!!!!!!!!!!
SageMode - 12/27/2012, 2:11 PM

"Humans....they are not the cowering wretches we were promised. They stand. They are unruly and therefore cannot be ruled. To challenge them is to court DEATH."
marvel72 - 12/27/2012, 2:29 PM
@ maximusnolanite101

i'm surprised that you didn't put every single scene from the dark knght rises in the favorite comic book movie moments of 2012.

maybe your nolan tinted glasses need a clean. :D
PeterParker1991 - 12/27/2012, 2:32 PM
1. Bane breaks the Bat

2. Iron Man vs Thor

3. Spiderman vs Lizard/Bridge Scene/ High school fight
AmazingFantasy - 12/27/2012, 3:27 PM
TASM bridge and High School Fight
skylarscar - 12/27/2012, 3:53 PM
That was not an earthquake machine in TDKR, how can you critique a film's plot if you didn't even comprehend it. I haven't seen the film since its first day in theaters and I remember and understand it better than you. The earthquake machine idea was speculation from the internet after the trailer was released, did you watch the movie out just look up YouTube highlights?
Originator2000 - 12/27/2012, 4:32 PM

The Dark Knight Rises :

Catwoman "About that whole guns thing. I'm not sure I feel as strongly as you"
RayRafaelAlvarez - 12/27/2012, 5:10 PM
@LEEE777 the back breaking scene came in the third film, I wouldn't call that rushed.
graveyardtramp - 12/27/2012, 5:28 PM
The mid-air plane heist that introduced Bane and started off The Dark Knight Rises, regardless of how much sense it may or may not have made, was easily the most breathtaking cinematic moment of the year for me. CGI is fine but there is no substitute for having a real person dangling thousands of feet in the air...was a spectacular sight in IMAX.
graveyardtramp - 12/27/2012, 6:03 PM
The first fight between Batman and Bane was another definite cinematic highlight of 2012...no music, sharp editing, great dark lighting, Bane's dialogue was terrific the way he played with Batman ("Theatricality and deception are powerful agents...to the uninitiated. But we are initiated, aren't we Bruce?"). There were audible gasps in the cinema when Bane lifted Bats over his head and threw him down across his knee....
ThePowerCosmic - 12/27/2012, 6:13 PM
Thanos wins for me!

Breakingof the Bat would have been good if he actually broke him, but its more like he threw a disc out of place.
fayzon10 - 12/27/2012, 6:43 PM
Nothing beats the Avengers team in a circle with the camera going around them!!!
Kevwebsz - 12/27/2012, 7:26 PM
THE AVENGERS MPNEY SHOT WHEN THEYRE ALL TOGETHER
LexHairFight - 12/27/2012, 7:58 PM
I prefer Batman's initial reveal on the batpod. The cop's reaction 'you're in for a show tonight', was fantastic. It may even be the first real 'fun' moment in the series. I was expecting the back break so it didn't surprise me - a big factor in this stuff.

TASM was definitely the high school fight scene, but to be honest this movie doesn't have too many for me.

Skyfall, I lost my shit in the final scene when they showed the old Universal Exports office. For some reason that shot really drilled home the high-level, justification of Bond that the movie set out to do. Epic.

Avengers is pretty much the whole thing. There are so many great moments you forget them all, but the circling shot is ridiculous. Everyone saw it in the trailer, but seeing it in the theater - everyone still freaked out. Epic-er.
DrHorrible - 12/27/2012, 8:09 PM
I can't believe I agree with DangerStranger. TDKR sucked as a whole, especially the shitty looking "back breaking." It made "Bane" look like he had a knee made of Flubber. Ridiculous.

1.) Avengers finally assembling in NY
2.) Spidey vs. Lizard (School Fight)
3.) Spidey's Final Swing
UltimateHunt - 12/27/2012, 8:35 PM
Watching the Movie Marvels Avengers is a CBM event unforgettable, somthing DC didnt dare to do but thanks to Marvel they will. In tdkr my fav part was the 1st boss fight and at the end when Batman tells Bane back "Where is it, then you have my permission to die" In TASM i like the Spider Man last swing, but overall Watching Avengers looking at all my fav characters whatching people from ALL ages having a good time was a special moment. the entire movie is the tdkr too (i had to say it so i dont get bitc* by Nolanites)
Jolt17 - 12/27/2012, 9:41 PM
Great list, and I surely agree with most of them, although I'd personally add some of these...

The Avengers:

None of the other moments of the movie gave me a smile wider than these two. God bless Joss Whedon for putting them in.

Dredd:
The Mega City-One chase scene. It's just as good as the chase scene of The Dark Knight Rises. The ending scene also deserves a nod, I think:

Skyfall:

The Aston Martin DB5, man. When it raced and the classic theme played, I jumped on my seat. (Yeah, too bad the video isn't that good.)

And if you count 'em, then I'd also definitely include the opening as well as the gun barrel sequences.

The Dark Knight Rises:

Say what you will about the movie, but the ending is definitely a powerful chain of scenes, supported only by such a wonderful score by Hans Zimmer.

The Amazing Spider-Man:

OK, I do like Coldplay, but what's important is that this scene captures the teenage dynamics of the characters, and can only be nailed by Marc Webb.

This scene is where Spidey truly becomes Spidey to me, and the VFX Breakdown impressed me even more. Not to forget the Stan Lee cameo featured in it!
Jolt17 - 12/27/2012, 9:47 PM
Oh, yeah...The Dark Knight Rises' Ra's al Ghul and Jonathan Crane's cameo, of course, and the bridge scene of The Amazing Spider-Man was also great.

And I forgot the "Silhouette" scene of Skyfall. That was beautiful.
INFO - 12/27/2012, 10:54 PM
BANE BREAKING BALEMAN WAS THE GREATEST SCENE EVER BROUGHT TO LIFE FROM A COMICBOOK IMO.
phoenixforce9 - 12/28/2012, 12:35 AM
rurouni kenshin was my fave of the year so i gotta show it some love
AsianVersionOfET - 12/28/2012, 12:49 AM
The [frick] is this shit?
KNIGHT3000 - 12/28/2012, 1:38 AM
For me its not the Silva chase in SKYFALL, its the SKYFALL scene in SKYFALL, from the point OO7 stops at storage straight to the end. Also the Hong Kong scene, those visuals, that whole vibe was what was truly AMAZING this year.

Watching the BAT break was pretty awesome... Dark Knight returns bike chase should've been longer, awesome though... BatCopter too...

Avengers assemble, followed by IRONMAN vs THOR vs CAPTAIN AMERICA, then HULK vs THOR

That Spidey swing where the city helped him was PATHETIC. I can't believe somebody thought it was epic, thats like helping Flash run, or Aquaman swim PATHETIC. Best part of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN was... high school fight... cop beatdown... web-shooters, that movie is seriously flawed though.
phoenixforce9 - 12/28/2012, 2:24 AM
@AsianVersionOfET in the US its samurai x. google it, dude... that movie has the most awesome sword fight scenes i have seen. no cgi, no stunt doubles.
