For the general audience a mention of the Triskelion or Central City means nothing, but to fans, it's another entry in the laundry list of nods to the future of the relevant franchise.
In the years of the modern comic book movie universe we've been treated to a fair share of them, some large some hidden for years.
But, what are the best? Here I count down the top 8 teasers and easter eggs in comic book movie history.

DEVLIN712'S TOP 8 EASTER EGGS AND TEASERS

The Film: The Amazing Spider-Man
The Egg: The Bridge

2012's The Amazing Spider-Man was met with mixed reviews from fans, Sony's Stutter-Man Spider-Man reboot didn't go 100% to plan. However, look past the flaws and you will find easter eggs galore. The best of which, lasting no more than a split second, suggests that Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy might want to steer clear of the George Washington bridge...

Nothing visual in this one but as we see the George Washington bridge Peter's spider sense blips for a fraction of a second. History has shown that Gwen Stacy and the George Washington bridge are usually linked by the constant... death.
In terms of math:

When G = Gwen Stacy and B = Bridge, the two can be linked with the equation, G = kB, where, the constant, k = death.

The Film: The Green Lanter
The Egg: The Sinestro Corps

If the Green Lantern's first solo outing weren't so damn bad, we might just have seen one of the most badass cosmic villain in history take center stage. Unfortunately, any chances of a sequel died after another failed atempt at a Ryan Reynolds CBM (Neither of which were his fault), taking with it any chance of seeing Mark Strong in the role again.
We did still get a great after-credits scene showing us just how much we missed out on.

The Film: Captain America: The First Avenger
The Egg: Winter is Coming

Right now, we are only 4 months from seeing Bucky Barnes all grown up and tearing through Washington. Back in 2011 however, nothing was known about the sequel, we didn't even know if it would feature Bucky.
We did get a great easter egg in which Cap finds Bucky on an operating table, talking to himself, apparently brainwashed.

Not much is made of the scene in the film, but to fanboys it was an instant warming sign; Bucky wasn't finished just yet and next time we see him, things might get ugly

The Film: Thor
The Egg: To Infinity and Beyond?

A precursor to a later entry on the list, fans went mad as a titan after laying eyes on Marvel's most famous piece of jewellery. Nothing more than a passing glimpse of Odin's vault's most precious item was enough to raise the hopes of fanboys world wide.

What at first seemed like nothing more than a throwaway prop would go on to become a lot more meaningful the following year...

Let's take a break from the competitive mood for a paragraph or two and move away from the big screen; let's try TV.
What takes the award for best TV teaser? There's a plethora of them to choose from, Deathstroke to A.R.G.U.S or Gravitron to the Triskelion, but on this occasion I'm going for smart writing over comic book accuracy.

Heads Up if you haven't watched up to Arrow S2 E2, you might want to skip on. You've been warned.

In season one, a depressed and on an emotional bungee cord, Thea, tried in good old CW fashion to get it on with her brothers best friend. Unfortunately for Thea, Tommy tells her she's nothing more than a sister to him. Jump forward one season and would you believe it, Thea and Tommy are siblings.
Now that's smart writing.

The Film: The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The Egg: Venom Storage

The Amazing Spider-Man: Rise of Electro isn't even out yet and already the easter eggs are being picked dry. The villain list is filling up after than the Flash can run. Will Venom be one of those villains? Probably not, but that doesn't take away from this great teaser in the first trailer.

As well as hinting at Venom, names such as Dr. Connors, Dr Morphius and the Australia Project (Kraven) are all mentioned. Much like the now famous computer scene in X2, this seems both too good to be true and too detailed to be dismissed. Only time will tell.

The Film: Iron Man
The Egg: The Avengers Initiative

If Marvel's plans were to break the internet back in 2008, they succeeded. Samuel L. Jackson's cameo as S.H.I.E.L.D' one eyed maestro in Iron Man sent fanboys wild and CBMs haven't looked back since.

10 words was all it took to change CBMs from a fun once a year action film into regular Hollywood blockbusters being consumed by everyone in the western world.

The Film: The Avengers
The Egg: To Infinity and Beyond!

No one new what to expect from the Avengers, never mind what came after. Luckily for Marvel the film was a success and the hype that followed topped every entry on this list. The purple Titan didn't even have to speak to make his mark.
Marvel had given a face to the mastermind and puppet master of the MCU's evil force, as well as making Thor's Infinity Gauntlet teaser a lot more relevant.
The hype was unparalleled... Well... Maybe one scene topped it...

The Film: Batman Begins
The Egg: He leaves a calling card

Do you remember 2005? Back when HD was the shiny tech of the future and Bush was still President? Me neither.
Well, back then Christopher Nolan made a film for WB, I won't bore you with details, we've all seen Batman Begins.
Nolan's masterpiece was an instant classic; Batman had ditched the camp and became cool. He was dark, cruel and ruthless, all the while giving every minute of his life and every ounce of strength to save Gotham City.
An origin story done right; Liam Neeson's Ra's All Ghul was as evil as it gets, everything Batman could do was because of Ra's. The technique, the brains and the stealth were all down to Ra's and his League. But no one left theatres talking about Ra's, there was a different villain on everyone's mind.
DC, Marvel, it doesn't matter who you prefer, not Thanos, not the Winter Soldier, not Lexcorp, not Doomsday could top this. After 2 hours and 30 minutes of origin, Nolan showed us what was next. Nothing beats the 1 minute and 25 seconds that rounds off Batman Begins.

At the end of the day it's all personal preference of a fan. What do you think? Was I right or wrong? Sign off your opinion below.

This should be on the front page! Loved the visuals!
ForeverPowerful - 12/27/2013, 9:42 PM
Agree completely. I was never more satisfied with a movie than I was with Batman Begins during those last few minutes.

It was one of those "oh no they didn't" moments for me.

[frick], I still get chills.
MCUfan1 - 12/27/2013, 9:43 PM
I think the Nick fury one should have been first.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 12/27/2013, 9:46 PM

TheSuperguy - 12/27/2013, 9:54 PM
Great list! I know it's not a great movie, but that was pretty cool when they mentioned Gotham in Superman Returns.
DrunkenPirateNukem - 12/27/2013, 9:58 PM
only one left....wayne enterprise´s sat in MOS
Nomis - 12/27/2013, 9:59 PM
I never heard a louder response from an audience in a movie when Batman turns over the Joker card!

The theatre literally shook!
BatManiac - 12/27/2013, 10:01 PM
I agree, the Batman Begins Easter Egg is the best. What makes it a 100x better is the pay off...

Firgosaurus - 12/27/2013, 10:03 PM
Was at the front row watching BB so I only caught Gordon's pleated pants during the reveal.
CaptShipwreck - 12/27/2013, 10:06 PM

mrHJK - 12/27/2013, 10:12 PM
Best one is in Batman & Robin when Batman says, "This is why Superman works alone."
Bread - 12/27/2013, 10:13 PM
I liked it when Sonic the Hedgehog and Green Lantern were in Batman Forever.
BatManiac - 12/27/2013, 10:13 PM
"He leaves a calling card"

I think the IM2 easter egg when Stark and Fury are talking at the end about Stark being a consultant and one of the monitors is showing all the locations of other characters yet to be introduced in the Avengers Universe needs to be included.

Also, Mjolnir in the desert at the end of IM2 needs a little bit of notice.
GreenLanternRulez - 12/27/2013, 10:17 PM
I got goosebumps when I saw Mark Strong put on the Yellow Ring of Fear
BatManiac - 12/27/2013, 10:18 PM
The Phoenix Easter Egg at the end of X-2 deserves an honorable mention.
inkslinger616 - 12/27/2013, 10:31 PM

The Phoenix Easter Egg at the end of X-2 deserves an honorable mention.

^^^^THIS^^^^

I remember the following week of school when all the guys in the class were talking about that scene! lol The 90's X-Men animated series made everything so incredibly easy for us!
TheBlackNerd - 12/27/2013, 10:41 PM
Or the scene from X2 when you see the names "Franklin Richards" and "Omega Red" pop up on the computer Mystique was hacking into. Just goes to show that Fox was already planning a shared universe seeing that Franklin Richards was originally in the Days of Future Past comic which singer was already set to direct after X3.
BrownandYellowWolvie - 12/27/2013, 10:55 PM
Seriously a toss up between Thanos and Avengers Initiative. Maybe Avengers Initiative on top by a smidge.

Why?

Because nothing has been done to bring together stars of individual movies into one gigantic team up movie--not before then and not even now! DCU hasn't even done it yet. When Fury mentioned the Avengers, we got the greatest easter egg of all. I mean, who in their right mind would have expected such a thing?!?! NO ONE. It pretty much spawned the MCU and the successful franchise that it is today. Without the Avengers, it would have just been a bunch of individual movies that didn't culminate into one gigantic box office smashing epic. And DC wouldn't be trying to copy them.

Really, it's all because of that IM2 easter egg...
MisterMagurlypse - 12/27/2013, 11:03 PM
Totally agree with your top three. The Phoenix one at the end of X2 was awesome too. Probably the Wayne Enterprises nod in MoS also.
TheSuperguy - 12/27/2013, 11:07 PM
The Sentinel head in X3 was pretty cool.
SageMode - 12/27/2013, 11:35 PM
Thanos was the best to me, hands down. My favorite villain of all time making his FIRST live action appearance.....geek-out bomb right there.

SageMode - 12/27/2013, 11:37 PM
@INTRUDER

Yes it did. In"motha[frick]in"deed

If Marvel isn't #1, trudy's gonna tell you he ain't happy.

Anyways,
great list.
Varanus - 12/28/2013, 1:20 AM
The Avengers initiative easter egg is my favorite.
BaronZemo - 12/28/2013, 1:41 AM
I was actually the one who spotted the Winter Soldier easter egg and i posted an article here about it. I think i was the first to see it, ever.
SoundWave - 12/28/2013, 1:49 AM
The Sinestro Corps is VERY-VERY BAD scene. Not the worst after credits (the worst is stupid scene after Iron Man 3), but so illogical to the movie...
Sumitsjc - 12/28/2013, 2:05 AM
Batman(even you don't see it) or Wayne from Man of Steel Should be on this list.
ahhmynuts - 12/28/2013, 2:08 AM
@baronzemo

keep telling yourself that bro
rogue88 - 12/28/2013, 2:13 AM
the cocoon???
IUsedToBeThecase - 12/28/2013, 3:26 AM
None from MOS?? Keep Calm and Call Batman, Wayne Enterprise, gold booster, Empty pod?
None?
Shit list
Odin - 12/28/2013, 3:28 AM
Sinestro easter egg is funny thing; the whole movie was so boring that you regret seeing it, yet that one final scene kinda makes you wanna see the sequel.
TheSisko - 12/28/2013, 5:10 AM
Sorry but I think Thanos should be ahead of Joker. The Joker is not that great a teaser because, whenever Batman is around Joker is not far behind. Thanos was a complete surprise.
