SHIELD has fallen and after years of planning Hydra have emerged from the shadows and come into the light. But what have they been doing in the shadows all along? In hindsight, with all that has been said and done in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, let's take a look back at what SHIELD were really up to back in 2012.
Check out the setting in this scene, it's filmed in a NASA facility and isn't your typical "green energy power station", is it? For example, I'm no physicist, but last time I checked, power stations don't need landing strips and arrival pads. If you didn't know better you'd almost think SHIELD were trying to pull someone through...
Marvel have proved that anything goes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier's Hydra takeover. So, with that in mind, what was the Tesseract really being used for back in The Avengers?
The placement of the Tesseract containment device almost looks as if it's been aimed/lined up with the pad... Next up, look at the portal that is opened, it looks a bit familiar...
Anyone else starting to see a trend appearing?
Well, my conclusion anyway. SHIELD had set up the Tesseract project to work on Fury's Phase 2 weapons, but Hydra had different intentions for the project. Hydra were attempting to use (without making it clear to Hawkeye) the Tesseract to pull their leader, Red Skull, back from the depths of deep space. Loki/Thanos flipped the switch from the other end and proved it worked, what if the Sentinel of Liberty's most formidable foe is already back?
More from me:
What do you think? Am I hitting the mark with this one or would I be better suited to trying to build portals to other worlds? And regardless of the out come of this, is everyone's favorite Swede, Eric Selvig a member of Hydra? Take what you will from this editorial, at the end of the day I'm just a fan who likes to fanaticize. Sign off your thoughts on the matter below!
